did FF14 fail because they used FF11 as a "beta"

FOV= Guildleves behest= Wing of the godness where you go and sign up and you get attack by mobs. SE team said while working on ffxiv they use a lot of stuff they thought that ffxi players may like so it took them time to find a way to make it work with ffxi system and a few idea did come from it and became leves and behests sadly tanaka did not have time to show the rest of his version which i think would have been great but now we never know.

yoshi-p is making this game more for casual and pointing it at wow players with the new interviews i been reading.

If it was the "best of ffxi" it wouldnt have failed, while leves are the same as FoV/GoV and from the point of view of somone who doesnt care about lore behest is similar to campaign, it wouldnt have failed as badly because its things the ffxi crowd are used to, alot of people quit cos of no content yet they would FoV and campaign all day with no complaints. and some others quit because its not enough like ffxi.

Leves and behest dont make ffxi a beta for 14, because its 2 things out of many.

Finally Yoshi-P doesnt want to make the game more casual, his view now is casual during the week (when people are working and dont have much time to play) and hardcore during the weekend when people have more time to play. Tanaka wanted to make the game more casual with leves the main way to get SP with the cooldown time, and with fategue which are both going to change in the next few patches

wow, was the OP really thinking people will agree with the rant?

My initial thoughts on FF14 when i first started and such:

Behest = Garrison/Campaign
Guildleves = Fields of Valor with BCNM-esque feeling/timer slapped on
Crafting = Upgraded Synergy
Gathering = It's own thing, but with VNM system slapped on.
Task Board & NPC (!) Icons = FF12~
Riding the boat = FF11 (other than not being able to physically board it).
Story progression & CS's = FF11~ but not as seemingly stale & stuck to the ground

Xiv took a nose dive at launch because they didn't just kick it out on stage unprepared. the poor thing was wrapped in a towel still dripping wet from the shower it was snatched out of, to add to this train wreck it did not know half of its lines and knew bugger all about the scenes it was going to perform.

Ok i think i have stretched that metaphor to its limits.

XIV is nothing like XI. Did you recently get lobotomized or did you only play FFXI for ten minutes? The only similarities are the races, the rest of your comparisons don't even make any sense unless you strip each element down into extremely vague terms.

Even if XIV was similar, which it isn't, FFXI was not exactly "niche". At its peak during ToAU it reached 1 million subs and it stayed fairly consistently at 500,000+ for years and years. When it comes to MMOs, that is very successful.
