I don't know about you, but if my retainer brought back something from t6-9, I'd sit there and laugh for an hour.

And so would I. But the forums would explode in a rage. If you could get raid content without doing the actual raid then it cheapens it a bit. Just look at how many people complained about the echo buff and making old content more "casual".
Three star crafted items are the crafters new t6-9, I don't even think people have been able to grow glazenuts yet so retainers are getting items we can't even attempt to make yet.
There's already a retainer that brought a T9 drop, and no one cared.
While someone did get a Glazenut seed, and is now growing it, which gives them an early edge, the rest of us botanist are more interested in figuring out the mechanics behind the inter-crossing then making mulah.
That is true. An FC mate's retainer brought back a Carbuncle lantern, which, I believe, is a 3 start crafting item.
That being said, I'd like to see statistics on the chances of them bringing back a 3 star item. Because if it's 1/100, that does feel a bit high.
If it's more like 1/10,000, then I don't imagine them really competing with crafters all that much.
Most of the gear drops I think people go so far are ilvl 70 and less, like a HQ Vanya gear, moogle weapon and etc. Weapon that most can't even be sold to take advantage of, and from what I understand, retainers only get such high lvl rewards depending on your own lvl. A low lvl player won't get such items.
I've yet to see a post about a ilvl 80+ reward.
Somehow I doubt that.
For all we know, some retainers have already brought back t6-9 weapons/gear and people just haven't even bothered mentioning it. And honestly, people will complain about everything. Heck, you're complaining about them bringing back 2/3-star craft items, despite the fact everyone knows (and has told you) that SE made a list of all the things they could bring back and that the quick ventures are pure RNG.
It isn't broken, no one really cares, and the amount of times a retainer will bring back something like t6-9 gear is once in a blue moon, unless someone is just OMNIPOTENTLY lucky.
It isn't a big deal to most of the community, it's only bothersome to certain people (like yourself). For rather silly reasons, imo.
Woot, so I could get Coil 2.0 Allagan Weapon be doing nothing ? If I'm lucky....
That should not be able to happen... I'm okay with getting the other things, but Coil 2.0 gear/weapons is just absurd.
I'm not the most hardcore player exactly, and another person in my FC is a lot more hardcore (not at T8 hardcore, but still...). If I got Coil 2.0 Allagan Weapon without even being near entering Coil 2.0, and he is trying hard to get it before most people, then that would certainly piss him off.... And it would piss me off too.
Hell... I'm not sure I would be happy with getting the best weapon in the game without even doing anything... that's just boring.
I used the Allagan weapon as an example cause it would be the most absurd.
First show me the official SE quote on that list because I haven't seen anyone confirm that. Also just because someone at SE made a list doesn't mean I have to agree with it 100% or that they didn't miss something. It seems to me all they did was lock out ilvl 75+ gear or anything blue or purple. Not quite the fine tooth comb I would have liked to see.
Yet as retainers level up higher you've said their chances of bringing back these rare items will go up, so over time it might start to affect crafters a lot. I'm not saying it's currently a problem but considering how long it takes to farm 500 myth tomes it might mean that crafting these new crafted items but not be the best way to get them.
