SE - Default 3rd Retainer before Fees

How about no.

A free third retainer seems fair, since inventory expansion upgrades have been put behind a cash shop's pay wall.

Also, I wouldn't mind so much if the Armoire could actually hold the Seasonal Gear in a timely manner (Dream/Kabuto's/Valentione's... looking at you).

Then don't buy it? If you want it you'll get it, if you don't want it you won't get it. Considering your join date is Jan 2014 I figure you didn't know SE already planned to charge us for additional retainers both before and after Yoshi P took over.

The free inventory upgrade have already happened.
FF XIV 1.0 started with 180 item slots (character (80) + character bazaar (10) + 1 retainer (80) + 1 retainer bazaar (10))
ARR started with 815 item slots (character (100) + armory chest (325) + 2 retainer (350) + 2 retainer bazaar (40))

If people complain about not enough space with 815 slots, then a 3rd retainer would be also not enough and they would start to complain that the 4th and 5th cost a fee.

Dream suits and Usagi kabuto are tradeable, still obtainable after the events (in the MB) and therefore would never go into the armoire.

But I want 8 of them for free.

If SE did give us 3, people would just then ask that they actually should get 4 for free, and then it will continue. Can't give people too many inches; they start to add up. I've collected all kinds of gear, and my retainers aren't full. My secret is not storing up crap materials for crafting "just in case I level that craft later". I'll farm them when I do.

I know that, even though I don't really need it, I'll likely still purchase at least 1 extra retainer. Why? Helping to support the game. More money towards server costs might just provide enough extra to keep upgrading them and making them better. I think of it like investing in the future of the game.

Then it should be enough for everyone. I'm in favor of no extra retainers for all.

At some point folks, you need to look at yourself, AND your inventory and ask 'hmmm should I clear some stuff out before I star in the next episode of hoarders?' You have a LOT of storage space currently. Storage isn't your 'issue'. Rather you don't like the idea that some people will choose to pay to have more than you and/or you don't like that some people will choose to have more retainers out on any given time on Ventures than you. But in order for them to do so, they have to pay RL money AND they have to have the time, in game, to actively earn the venture vouchers/seals to buy venture vouchers. So even then, people are limited by what they are willing to do each day etc.

But really, if you find yourself with tight storage (and this is coming from a 50/all player w/ 1 full 'box' of her player inventory dedicated to fishing bait), maybe you should rethink how much stuff you need to 'save' and sell some of it/craft and sell some of it.

And stop screaming 'inventory!' when your real issue is you're just jealous others might have more than you/you're unwilling to spend extra money.

As much as I agree with ya, if SE really wants to help the people that hoard nearly every item in the game then that's on them. It doesn't affect me to see someone with 4 retainers as it doesn't effect my gameplay. :P
