Again if you build your company up to any respectable level you will have more than one backup guy (Who isn't even a backup as you stated if you dissapeared he would probably do so as well). It would also be prudent to not just "Invite that guy looking for a FC" Add people to your free company that you trust and want to play with, that's the whole point of the thing in the first place.

Not to invite random people and pray to the twelve that they aren't terrible people.

i have my own solo FC that i love. slowly but surely, i have leveled it up (almost to 5) by myself. $$ saved for a FC house as soon as rank 6 comes around.
i have all my gil and tons of items stored there. sooooo, what happens if i go offline...?
will i lose it all? will there be an option to toggle this feature on/off? am i now forced to make/add an alt if i want to take a break from the game so there is a player for the leadership to go to?

what if they instead made it like a Vote to Promote feature instead?
after 35 days being offline, the remaining members can then initiate a Vote to Promote.

Don't give John the rights to recruit players. Don't let more Johns join if it's a big deal. They can find an active FC instead. Kick anyone out who isn't you and close friends you trust. If you want to keep a solo fc to just you, that's really the only way.
Also, if you want to override the 1000 char cap, you can edit after posting to add more.

I, too was in a FC where the leader stopped playing about a month in until December. However, we're all real life friends. So once we decided we wanted a house, we just called the guy and asked for him to pass lead. If we didn't have that option, we would've been really upset if we had to remake and relevel to get the house.

If there is no one to pass lead to then you're automatically it. This is for FCs that aren't solo but get screwed by leaders that leave with no interest to return or are gone for a long time.

Too many scenarios where this could go wrong though. You clearly don't understand my situation. I completely understand the problem others would be in and how it would suck. Definitely something like this is very helpful I agree 100% on that. But too take away the master rank and a possibility of someone you did not recruit or weren't online when recruit, holds too big of a threat. Whats stopping him from selling everything? Gaining everything you've worked so hard for and he hasn't even started paying or plan on continue playing after his free-trial stops. What's stopping the possibility when I go on holidays for say. This should be a setting turned on by default. Otherwise give us an option to turn if off if we play with a few irregulars and have little options to give up leadership in your place

To the OP: if you leave for 35 consecutive days then you aren't there for your FC. It's lame leadership and anyone in your FC that is playing is getting screwed. If your FC is really just you and a friend then boot the non friend just in case.

Your FC can revolve around whatever interests you like, however SE did not design the FC system to revolve around two person groups with apparently zero trust in others who only log in every other month.

Free companies are not meant as a means of letting someone personally buy expensive individual housing. They're meant to be the foundations of player groups and larger communities within the game and will be built upon the idea that one or two people not logging in for a month will not cause the total and utter collapse of the group.

Simple fact, FCs need to be managed. They are not the leader's personal plaything. Anyone who leaves for 35days isn't a vacation, it's an abdication.

People aren't leveling your FC up so many ranks and invested so much gil into the house, and put their logo on their equipment just to have it fall into ruin.

It will auto pass to the next seniority, so if you can't trust your next in line, you're not fit to be leader.

But I found some nice people that reminded how much fun it is playing with a group of friendly people. And like said before Im starting to trust a couple of them, that they wouldnt abuse the power if given to them. I'm totally cool with that. I don't want to stop letting them have invites neither, because roomates/friendly people they meet they can offer it while Im at work or something. I just don't want one of them to take 7days off within 35days if I haven't played and then some random they invited gets leadership.

Isn't MMO's a place to make friends and be social? Gotta start somewhere giving someone a chance when they seem sincere. Just seems like the timing for me and this is horrible. And that's why I'm looking at it this way.
