I sometime use Repelling Shot to dodge WoL but frankly I don't recommend it.
Its CD isn't up for every WoL, and you will realize when you are in the middle of 5 WoLs. And one mis-click = dead.
Anyway, Repelling Shot can dodge WoL just fine if execute within certain time after WoL appear.
Biggest change for me was hard wiring my connection, went from crazy rubber banding to NONE whatsoever
Latency spike like everyone else that has the problem. I've had two friends download WTFast and they now swear by it. One of these friends lives in Australia and suffered 4000ms Ping spikes during Titan. He now dodges like a boss.
If youre complaining of slowdown/pauses it doesnt sound like internet troubles
Overlapping wotl's does cause framerate drops, on lowspec laptops or old ps3's I can see that being a problem, but not one thats likely to be high on the issue list
The issue is that updating position data (and not using animations during the cast) should not be necessary to dodge anything. Also needing to download 3rd party programs just to be able to dodge also shouldn't be necessary. There are a lot of players who are not tech savvy, and also a large PS3 audience who cannot even utilize those applications.
I've said it hundreds of times and I'll say it again. Progression should be skill based, and not location, software or hardware based (as long as the minimum spec requirements are met). Each and every player should be on a level playing field, else don't even bother to release the game in specific locations (AU/NZ tends to have an extreme amount of issues regarding this).
