The flavor of this one is more MMO-like:
-single character
-real-time combat
-one-button one ability (no more paradigm)
-multiple classes
-Gear has specific graphics
-real time world events
I personally like MMOs so I'm pretty sure I will enjoy the game, BUT there are a lot of FF fans who will probably not like it.

I played it. I liked it, but I'm fairly easy to please so meh. 13-1 Was good cause it had gunblades that actually shot stuff. Only thing I liked about 13-2 believe or not, was that Noel dual-wielded. 13-3 does look interesting, I'll give it that.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of Lightning and the XIII saga (despite the criticism by a lot). I loved 13's beautiful environments and eidolons, wasn't really a huge fan of 13-2 (I disliked the "recycled" models of the npcs and environments), and I was very excited while playing the LR demo. I'm glad to be controlling Lightning again, and think the game is on the right track this time in finishing the series on a positive note. They've introduced more RPG elements that were lacking in the previous games (and that lots of people criticized the first games on, such as shops and open-world exploration), and I think that will greatly impact the experience in a good way. The costumes for me are kind of iffy since Lightning's personality doesn't quite match a lot of the outfits she can wear in the game, but the customization features are pretty detailed and very cool in their own respect.

The main thing i hated about FFXIII was the introduction of endless melodrama. Final Fantasy 8 and 10 were almost exclusively emotional love stories, but they wern't written so badly. FFXIII-2 was enjoyable but only because Square Enix fooled me. I was under the impression that they would release the game for $60 and continue to add ACTUAL content to the game via DLC, but instead all I got was a game that rehashed itself, a story that made no attempts to stay coherent, and a cliffhanger worthy of death threats. Oh, and 2 DLC "chapters" I completed in a day and never played again.
And so it stands that for the first time in my life, the first time EVER, I am so thoroughly put-off by XIII and XIII-2 that i'm not even giving this one the benefit of the doubt. I refuse to pay Square Enix to continue this insulting series killing spree.
No matter how many small good things can be said about XIII: Lightning Returns, nothing will make me forget the fact that if this were 14-15 years ago, under the name "Squaresoft", XIII:LR would have been a start-to-finish standalone IP that had nothing to do with Final Fantasy. And i'd probably love it.

i kinda liked the demo but I will still skip this game.

It's really sad to see SE stoop to such low, base and very cliche tactics to save a character/story. It happens a lot in "Japanese" niche games where you get to dress up the main characters. NiS does a lot of these games i.e Hyper Dimension Neptunia is one that comes to mind and the only saving grace for these games is the diversity in clothes. SE could have used that money to make FFXIV a better game rather than try to make up for the fail trilogy known as FFXIII.
*Note; when I say Japanese I mean games which are so obscure to the culture outside Japan that it rarely ever gets imported, it also falls under a "special" category but I'll leave it to your imaginations ;)
I thought we were done with the days of swapping discs to continue a game. The series should be called FFXIII disc 2 and FFXIII disc 3 instead of FFXIII-2 and FFXIII-3.
