What did you all think of lightning returns ffxiii demo?

The cut scenes look awesome. The game play seems fluid. The changing outfits on the fly is odd since your changing outfits in the middle of battle; however, I understand it's a class change in reality like the other outfit change ff games. I really didn't understand the BLM outfit as far as cosmetic looks. I did like how there is actual named classes or w/e they are in that game.

While the game didn't really fill my cup of tea personally, I can tell it is a pretty good game. I think I like slower gameplay and of course ffxiv! What did you all think about it?

Combat is... eh. Think FFX-2 mixed with a fighting game's controls (dedicated attack buttons).
Instead of swapping out party members when they run out of "AP", you change cloths (which look great btw. def check out the dragoon) and some way that makes you regain MP/AP o_O

Going old school as you do not regain health in-between fights (I see we just lost half the players).

Brief demo but it just didn't FEEL like a Final Fantasy game =/
Nostalgic throwbacks are in there but... dang SE. What happened?!

I liked the first one and skipped part 2 as well. I forgot why I skipped it though.

I'm one of the few that actually liked the first one, but wasn't a big fan of the second one. The demo felt fun though, except I felt ATB starved at times. I'm not sure if I was just doing it wrong or what, but I'll either figure it out or maybe later in the game we'll get abilities and gear that will increase ATB and allow us to button mash even more?

-Battle involves moving around a small area in X,Y directions very slowly - feels a bit half-assed for making direction/location of attacks matter in certain boss fights

My stance: I liked 13 the most, 13-2 was a downgrade, and this I look forward to the least.
That said I will buy it and play it and 100% etc.

Yeah I liked 13-1 more... and 13-2 meh that didnt even exist to me. Serah and Noel didnt do nothing except screw things up. Worst ending ever.

About the demo... Well I guess its just a demo so you cant expand your abilities. probably in teh full version you can get more abilities per job and will be able to custom and probably even take off guard. Although not sure if its a good idea to take of guard, since it seems like a solo Lightning game you would need it and also help you stagger enemies better attacking after a guard.

About the Actions... I guess like in all other 13 games you will be able to add more bars, usually games starts with 3-4 actions and end up with like 6.

Pros:

-Battle system is fun

Cons:

- The story is insultingly bad. Things literally happen at random and nothing makes any sense.

- The entire game is a humongous retcon of itself. But seeing as FFXIII's story made no sense anyway, the only thing it has left to destroy are its characters.

- Lightning is not lightning. She's some chick who puts on outfits, make awkward action poses and tries to be an action hero.


tl;dr

FFXIII-3 takes the cast of FFXIII and transforms itself into a bad Manga. Like, a really bad manga. I'm talking Kingdom Hearts meets Naruto here. The battles are alright though.

I quite liked it. Still dissapointed we won't have full party control in a XIII game though, personally feel that's the weakest point of the series.
