Cant watch that video but put simply.. lowgear = feed slimes whenever you can, propergear = feed a few at the start and avoid the rest

Anyone that avoids all slimes and solo-tanks or whatever is probably fully geared and playing with fc/friends trying to make it fun, leave that stuff for later, not for inexperienced pugs

If you need to feed slimes after the split, you're in full i55 gear or playing with bad players (which is likely, because 99% of you can't even DPS correctly).

We were one of the first groups to down T1, in a mixture of i55 and i70, and we only fed slimes until they split. After split, we stopped feeding and rotated cooldowns on the tank.
Burn down one snake, limit break the other, and then kite it around in circles until you win.
It's very possible (and easy) without excessive gear.

You know, you were fine up to this point. Do you talk to people like this in the real world? Cause I don't imagine that type of condescending attitude would be very well received. And honestly, if you believe the player base of this game is THAT bad, why are you playing it? I'm sure there are other, more hardcore MMOs "worthy" and "deserving" of one so talented as yourself. . .

There's nothing wrong with pointing out a wide problem. Most of you cannot DPS correctly, period.
Do you expect nobody to call you out when you do something wrong for months at a time in the real world, without trying to fix the problem?
If having it pointed out hurts your feelings, fix it and nobody will have a reason to tell you that your DPS is bad? I don't know what to say.

Have you noticed how many duty finder/party finder groups for Extreme Garuda can barely meet the DPS requirement with ilevel 75-80, even though the encounter is intended for i65? There's a reason for that.

At least you get an A for effort in this game. In the real world you just get nothing, at best.

Oh both my DPS my feelings are fine, thanks. I'm personally not bothered by blanket statements that don't apply to me, but in an odd re-application of the point you just made, I'm simply pointing out that not so much what you say, but HOW you say it is, well, wrong. Facts are facts, opinions are opinions, and I'm not debating which one your statement falls under, but would you deny your words are, shall we say unnecessarily sharp? Condemning 99% of the players of a game? Unless you're looking at vast amounts of player data across that broad a range, I doubt you're capable of making that analysis.

Obviously, no, that's not the case. So let's call it what it is: you have both an elitist and negative view of the game. One of the first to beat Turn 1 with low gear? Congrats. I've done tons of things with low gear, simply because I didn't FEEL like switching. Or because I just wanted to see if I could. Most of the time, I could. Where's my prize? No, I haven't noticed that most groups can't meet the DPS requirement for anything, because - honestly - I'm only concerned with whether I can meet it. I would like to think others do too, but I know mileage may vary there. Big picture here is that, no matter how good you may be or how much you might know it in no way validates looking down on the 99% (ha, that's actually kinda funny) or having a nasty attitude about it.

Seriously, if you're THAT good, why not teach people? Nicely, if you can. You lose nothing, and yet, you gain at least one more knowledgeable player that can help you, should the planets ever align and you'd actually need help. And if you or someone else might need that ego boost, you can say that you taught that person everything they know in this game. Sure, it's still a game, but that's a lot more tangible than being that 1% that did it first.

While his post lacks tact, the more I play, the more I find there to be truth in the statement. There are a lot of DPS in this game that don't know what they're doing. Sadly, some DPS players I've encountered in random groups are also stubborn on top of their ignorance.

I had this happen in a Garuda X party recently. We had a 3 bard pick-up group (bad right there, I know), and one of the bards insisted on using Mage's Ballad to prolong Foe Requiem during the first few phases of the fight. We asked him to stop putting up Ballad, pointing out the fact that three bards can easily rotate Foe Requiem without it. Instead of comprehending the point, he argued it and continued to put it up during several attempts, costing the party 20% of his DPS for nothing. Finally, we got him to stop using it, and he got snippy with us other two bards about our own timing for putting Foe Requiem up.

I can't vouch for the quality of other classes, but I see bard after bard that doesn't know what they're doing. Missing DoTs, never playing songs, poor positioning. I still learn things all the time, but it's amazing how many people don't understand some of the fundamentals of their classes (or the game). I don't agree with Yenn's tone, and while his point cannot be backed up statistically by anyone but SE, it's something I'll verify anecdotally that I've encountered with a sad frequency.

Now that, I can understand and agree with. Yes, there are a LOT of players in all classes who make some questionable calls. But I strongly believe that there are just as many who DO know what they're doing within that 99% he so dismissively condemns. Maybe its a server population thing, but for every 1 bad player, I tend to find 3 good. The sad truth is, the big bad wolf mentality really does stop some people from even wanting to do something or learn something.

While that's definitely not new to MMOs, it creates that player gap that is wholly unhealthy for the game's life, and that even goes beyond MMOs. The good become skilled, the bad become dependent, this makes the good/skilled players feel underappreciated and annoyed, and the bad feel entitled and surprisingly, also annoyed. There becomes no room for beginners or errors and hostilities over that become rather open. This eventually leaves a shortage of good players unwilling to teach bad players out of sheer exhaustion/irritation, and a multitude of bad players who are unwilling to learn from good ones with nasty attitudes. Then you get exceedingly long waits for people to run content that can be just as easily taught to someone geared for it, but lacking the knowledge to put that gear to good use, or worse, people leaving the game because they simply feel like they've hit a glass ceiling.

As for Bards, I'm far from perfect, I miss the occasional song myself, and having originally been a tank, I have to suppress those tendencies, but it's REALLY not that hard to play. Anything can be taught, but would you rather learn by calm guidance or brutal criticism?

Unfortunately, for every good player, I tend to find 20 bad. Well, maybe not all of them are bad-bad per se. Some are simply mediocre, not maximizing effectiveness.

Exactly. And that can be changed. I personally set out to learn proper Bard rotations and how to maximize my DPS, and even still, others (both FC members and the occasional random Bard) gave me pointers as they saw I needed them. And I took it in and only got better. Now, if it had gone something like, "OMFG do u even know how to DPS properly?! What's wrong with everyone who plays this game?!!" I might not have been so receptive to what they had to teach me, if at all. I'm by far no MMO veteran, but the big problem I see is we're too quick to tear down rather than build up.

Is there an abundance of tanks on your server or something? I see pf groups sitting forever looking for 2 tanks. Why don't you just join one, explain you've watched videos and researched strat but have never cleared it? This week I pugged turn 1 with a brand new tank. We wiped twice, the second due to a dc, and cleared it the third attempt with no issues. If you mt you just stand in front of the mob and spam your combos. When platform lights up you move to the one next to it that isn't lit, then move back.

The group I pugged had pretty low dps so we dragged 2 slimes, then burned the main add to 5%, burned and limit broke the second until dead, then switched back and finished off the first. I've tried various strats of dragging slimes after split with low dps and it just seemed to make things too complicated. Save your big cooldowns for when he has high stacks. Hollowed at 5. It's an easy fight once you've cleared it.
