Binding Coil of Bahamut T1 - Query of Strategies

So im just here, slowly gearing up my tank in Crystal Tower gear due to always not being able to enter Coil. Either by the elitists PFs, or people just not wanting people who havent done it yet which leaves the unexperienced to to get the scraps of everything else, and im getting pretty sick of it.

So im just looking around for videos on YT, guides on how do the bosses, the ADS and the boss. I did a practice run with a PuG, all of us new to try and see what can we do. We got murdered, to put it lightly lol

While im looking for guides, I find an interesting one called the burn strategy
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUkkXWBvpeI

If I was better geared and had a well coordinated team, I could try this but sadly, too much in the blind. One thing is to see someone else, another is being unable to put it to practice.

But beside the less risky slime strategy and this burn strategy, and the "supposedly better" Enrage strategy for the later Turns, any other tips and tricks are there for this turn or others in general?

There really are only two ways to do this fight "under geared" as most would say. But in CT/darklight you are able to use the burn strategy (burn 1 snake to 5% then kill other while ignoring slimes) but its very unlikely you will be successful due to tank gear (may be possible with CT gear).

When we first started doing Coil in only darklight gear we used the slime method and dedicated two people to drag slimes to each snake. It took much longer but it was the only way with our dps to kill it.

We are all i86+ now and are even able to tank 8 stacks on the snakes now and just use one tank.

One strat is to ignore everything and have the tank run around in a circle having the WHM spam Stoneskin and SCH adlo. Have all ranged dps just dps the one snakr and if you get too much aggro kill yourself on tail swipe and rez them.

    Hope this helps!

Make sure you're capping your Myth weekly so you can get some of that gear as well. Coil drops can be pretty stingy.

If you don't overgear the encounters you probably will have to do them the conventional way. In Turn 1, for ADS you'll want to kill the first 2 adds then focus on ADS, whereas high ilvl groups can just ignore the adds outright and burn down ADS. For Caduceus you'll have to use the slimes to maintain the stacking buffs, whereas higher ilvl groups can just nuke them down without worrying about slimes, or just have them remerge.

For what it's worth they're putting Turns 1-5 in DF in March, so if you can't beat it by then there's always that.

Well, we did this in mostly Dark Light gear and Relic weapons (+ the odd myth piece here and there on some of our party members) and only fed slimes up until the split. Then our tanks separated both snakes and we assigned 2 DPS per snake to bring them down relatively equally. When HP on one of the snakes was low enough, we used LB2 to kill it. The other tank than just popped Hallowed Ground, while all of the DPS focussed on burning the last snake down. If it wasn't dead by the time HG expired, we had our tank kite in big circles around the ranged DPS and healers to buy him some time. In the beginning we had to feed 2 slimes prior to split, due to being "undergeared". Nowadays we just feed 1 slime, drag them apart after the split and burn both down equally, DPS is usually fast enough so we don't need any LB or Hallowed Ground.

Wow, that's what you call a "strat"?

It's not actually "better" (and most certainly not faster) ... it's easier, because it takes advantage of a design flaw to circumvent all of the regular mechanics of this encounter, basically turning it into one noob-friendly autopilot EZ-Mode tank and spank feast. I'll advise against using this method if you want to learn how to deal with game mechanics in a proper way rather than just cheating your way around them for the sake of grabbing loots.

bahaha, i love these posts. The enrage tactic is not cheating and its not a design flaw. If the devs wanted it to actually kill you they would have made it so. The devs actually would have had to plan it to be healable with 2 geared healers or 3 semi geared healers. I just LOL when these are posted when 90% of the playerbase used the WP/AK speed runs to autopilot getting myth caps...

At max gear you don't even have to kite actually...we just let the snake combine and tank it normally, avoiding spawning all slime and trigger tail whip as much as possible. 8 stacks is very much healable when everyone is geared out.

Keep hope alive man. Your best bet is to look for a coil static on your server through public channels of communication. Be honest that you're new, and are struggling to get enough experience with the content through simple pug's. An eloquent advertisement will do wonders for you, as it'll help demonstrate that you're intelligent (which bodes well for being able to understand and take constructive criticism to heart). You can fix lack of experience, as well as lack of gear, and many seasoned raiders know this and are happy to get you up to speed if it means they have somebody who will stick around to help down future content and do so with a firm grasp of their class.

Ark, I just unlocked Coil today, and I've been itching to try it myself. Videos and strat guides are great and all, but nothing beats the first hand experience. (call me overgeared/overachieving but I beat Titan HM with a random group on the 4th try, all from half-watching a video and honestly, just being good at dodging. The rest was the basics). If I could, I'd totally startup a learning group with you. I would still encourage you to try, and like others here said, be honest that you're new. And that you WANT to learn. If they don't want to take time to teach you, that's their right, yes. But that's another group that's going to be wasting their time shouting in Revenant's Toll for members to join their group for hours.
