Not even close. Hamlet in 1.x was closer. Then again, I don't care much for FATEs - So can you tell me which battlefields are unlocked through controlling certain areas with FATEs? I mean, you can stretch anything to make something similar. You see that group of level 10 Qiqirin's just chilling around a camp fire? If you and your friends go and wipe em out, CONGRATS! CAMPAIGN BATTLE!

Ballista was much fun then this crap we have.

I would love Campaign battles too, it was one of my favourite things to do in FFXI when I had nothing else to occupy my time.

Uhm, we already have campaign battles. They're called FATEs. Sure, they're shorter, but the concept is basically identical.
