SE, you could at least off set the cost with Free Company Credits. 10gil = 1 FC credit. I mean, doesn't it make more sense for FC to cost company credits rather than gil? Or another idea would be to just charge rent for the lot. You remove gil for the game and we get medium size housing, because let's be honest small housing is for personal use.

Upkeep is a bane for many a known veteran MMO comrade in the games it held function, before branching into the broader public.
The prices appear the culprit, by and large, without exploring perhaps the psychology of those in development which might be its own thread where it's permitted.

I can understand the large cost of company housing when we take into account that SE already stated they don't want to stress the servers with new FC homes and neighborhood zones right away. I can assume, the initial stress of people buying property could crash the server. We already know it was very problematic when players overload a service such as the duty finder, as it crashed the servers a lot at release. SE may not know how many homes will be bought, so by slowing down the process, it makes troubleshooting the problems more manageable. SE stated that the problems at initial release by players overloading the duty service, delayed the 2.1 release date.
I think this is a strong way to slow down the process at which people buy homes. If that makes it possible for me to play the game, with out error codes, I am all for it.
I wish Se did more to help the rest of us by providing a major update to the FC chest, and by providing more tools to the FC interface.

I do not know the logic of Square on the matter of housing, if you put the idea that most ppl that play versión 1, quit the game because it was so terrible, and they have the crazy notion that we are rich. We do not have money even for the smallest house. I was looking forward the most for the housing, but now forget about it, unless I sell my soul to a new class job which it seams Square is going to add without even knowing about it : Farmer.
The only people I can see happy about this is gil sellers , makes you wonder if they are in good terms with Square or something, and now for sure will make my blacklist be full since the /tells are going to be non stop.
If they are doing this cause the servers cannot handle it, well maybe They could had add housing in a future patch, and not just make the players look forward for something they are not going to have.
Also I dont even want to think the change of prizes on the Action house tomorow.

I have to agree with a lot of what was said. We have a small (like less than 10 people) free company of friends/family who play together and don't recruit. Housing, which I was really excited about, went from a goal to work towards to effectively unobtainable. Even at the lowest (2mil) - we can barely scrape together 1/10th of that. I'm not saying that it should be free or a given, but an amount that means we would have to plan and work towards it over the next month or so. If we did nothing for the next 4 months but craft for money.
It's really disappointing. Like I said, I don't expect to be given anything, but I want to put effort into getting something that doesn't take 6 months to attain.
Honestly, I don't have very high hopes for player housing now. I feel like with this model, player houses for 1mil gil will be considered reasonable. It just really makes me sad. This had so much potential to add something for everyone, not just the elite free companeis.

If merging is the direction that they want to take the game, I have a very bad feeling about where they want it to go. I can't imagine a Free Company with 500 members, or more. That's not a team; that's a small company, complete with a boss, his/her board of directors, and all the little employees serving them. Who wants to come home from work to go back to work? All the glory goes to the clown with the crown, and all the little worker bees get to freeze.
I think this, just like everything else comes down to choice. I think all of us here have decided to simply not participate in this charade. Kudos to us, I say. Sometimes, it takes strength to be different.

Eve Online corp and starbase management, not really something I wanted to get back into. Especially without the right set of controls/options for it. That is exactly what this housing situation creates though.
Being a legacy player, that played through all of 1.0, I maybe could have had the money and a few of my FC members could have too. But who saves 100mil to throw at a guildhouse?
In Eve it was through service charges and taxes within the corp that these purchases got made, very little was donations. I can't see any way that I can coax 20~600mil out of my FC for a vanity item that may or may not be worth having in the end.
At any rate, like soooo many others here, my little FC (about 15~20 regularly active) had its hopes of a cool new house dashed since only about 5 of us have 1mil+ and of those 5 only about 2 would willingly part with 1mil+ most of us are in the 50~100k range at any given time cause we don't spend 24/7 gil farming.

Let's just imagine how many ppl & time we need to get a Medium Third-class Plot (on Sargatanas it's 84,375k gill). Consider a medium player (not Bahamut-farmer) playing 5 days a week, 3h a day. Let's suppose he goes to WP 3 times a day & gives all earned money to the guild for purchase of the Plot (it's 3k gill for one WP => 9k gill a day). Take for example a 3 month period. So we have 9k gill * 3 month * 4 week * 5 day * 9 000 gill = 540 000 gill from one person for 3 months. We have Medium Plot - 84 375 000 gill, dividing it for 540 000 gill we get 156 ppl.
So 156 ppl should farm WP 3 times a day 5 days a week for 3 months (like a work) for having Medium Plot. Dunno if I want that Plot after that.
