You kind of answered your own concern. Lockouts are a means to an end: encouraging continued subscriptions, that keep development money flowing and players active. They should not be an end to itself, but will be replaced or lifted as content rolls in.Quote:

The problem with these threads that respond to lockout threads is that they offer the polar opposite argument. It's not black and white.
I'll list out the various potential CT lockout options
1) CT no lockout w/ loot lockout across all jobs - This is the option they are going with in 2.1. You can run as much as you want per week, but can only loot one item across all jobs. If you run CT as much as you can across all your jobs, but once you loot an item, regardless of job, you are locked out on loot until the next week.
2) CT lockout w/o loot lockout across all jobs - This is how coils runs. In this case, you can run CT only once a week but potentially loot everything across all jobs.
3) CT no lockout w/o loot lockout across all jobs - In this option, you can run CT as much as you want per week and you can loot gear every time you run CT. You can theoretically run CT as many times as you can per week and loot everything and gear all of your class. This is the most open option.
4) CT lockout w/ loot lockout across all jobs - In this option, you can only run CT once a week and once you loot an item, regardless of job, you are locked out on loot until the next week. This is the most restrictive option.
5) My recommendation - Run CT as many times as you want per week but allow the player to loot one piece of gear PER JOB. If I loot a CNJ/WHM/SCH item, I can't loot on another one of that type of the next week, but I can still loot on a THM/SMN item if I wanted to. This removes the restriction slightly and lets you gear your alts at a moderate pace(which in my case is the point of CT since I am almost all ilvl90).
Take all options into consideration before creating ANOTHER thread that bashes ANOTHER lockout thread. My recommendation may not be the best one and it will have its criticisms, but at least I am putting some critical thinking into this issue and not blindly creating these black and white threads. There is a middle ground and we can offer constructive feedback to SE with logic so that they can hopefully take it into account (maybe I am naive) and they can make things better in the future. -

A loot lockout on CT is ridiculous. When minimum entry requirements are iLvl 70 for coil, why would you lockout ilvl 80. In a sense, you can now gear up for coil with myth and ilvl 80, but ultimately, you are going to be able to go into coil anyway. That and it's been said to gear your other jobs in CT, but the lockout makes it mini coil.
I am hoping when the live letter hits tomorrow, they will talk about the loot lockout. It would have been nice if you got 1 free need lot, and the rest of the runs will be greed only. -
