Holy Crap Batman! So it appears they are using the IE shell extensions to load a webpage from the launcher.
If you have an older version of IE that has notoriously bad ECMAScript (JS) support which loads a page requiring a file hosted by a third party which can update / change the version outside of the control of Squenix (Google CDN Hosted) you are going to have a bad time. This is just bad design on their part by using the assumption because it is windows that all windows users have IE installed and all windows users keep their PC updated.

IE File version 11.0.9600.16384
Windows 8.1
Getting the script error. Had it Monday Nov. 25, ran CCleaner and that fixed it. Game loaded up fine last night. Now all of a sudden this morning, getting the script error again. I assure you my PC didn't update while it was shut down overnight. So frustrating!

Sadly I haven't been able to play in about 2 weeks now. That's half a month's subscription gone... I really wish there would be some official acknowledgement of this error.
-
Guess it's time to unsubscribe...this is unacceptable.
I've uninstalled IE11/10 and have just IE9 installed...still script errors. I had no issues yesterday...

I started getting this error last night. Sent off for support which I know won't get back with me until after the Thanksgiving Holiday.
It was a "Script Error 454" but now it is a showing this number:

I've tried everything i've ran across and updated from Windows 8 on this new PC to Windows 8.1.
I'm kinda glad to see others are having this issue but also pretty angry that apparently it seems a little more rampant and isn't getting resolved very well. Or, just doesn't have a conclusive resolution I suppose I can say.
I've already paid for a three month subscription and the fact now i'm going to have about 2 months of it cut out if they don't get this fixed is going to make me more irritated.

Same issue, script errors regardless of whats attempted. I renamed the folder in %homepath%\Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn, and it recreated... Appeared to load once allowed me to accept the terms then repeated the script errors above. Also rolled back IE to 9, and reset it to default settings. Also cleared all browsing history both from Chrome, and IE. Really aggrovating at this point, and have only seen moderators bounce new posts to the "RESOLVED" forum which says to do what I've done... I hope this is being worked on!!
Edit:
Found some malware on my machine that appears to have installed a proxy, and was serving adds on webpages. Not sure if its a true resolution obviously, but after removing it the launcher is now running, and updating as it should. Mine was called Scorpion Ad something... Double check Programs and Features for anything installed recently. Should be able to sort it by install date, and once you've done so be sure you haven't been hit by any drive by downloads. Sorry if your issue persists but one or all of the above worked for me.

If you're getting a 454 script error you may have malware, malwarebytes solved my issue. -Q.

as said in the two posts above malware was blocking me to it seems

What Poosammich said worked for me

This fixed my error as well. but when I deleted the program and restarted it gave me an unable to check versions error. So I then proceeded to run malware bytes and it works fine now. I wonder if those two errors coincide with each other? Maybe the malware program put some malicious content into the launcher?
