This just seems to be a common MMO launch thing. I believe MMOs should have to launch with competing functions as current MMOs.

We had this in early 1.0 however most people hated it because they felt it went a bit too far in what it allowed you to do and to some all of the classes felt almost identical because of it.
So all MMOs that launch these days must launch with the equivalent in terms of available classes and dungeons/raids/campaigns as every other MMO out there? Come on, MMOs grow with time. Every game can't launch with 20 classes and 6 full campaigns spanning an entire world.
Things take time. If you don't have patience, then the game might not suit you.
a joke? compare to early release of FFXI where there is only 6 jobs?
I want more personal customization such as more gear options, why force people into AF then DL then Hero and so on. Also less gear that forces you wear a helm or cowl ... why not have Primals drop gear equal to DL instead of weapons? It's not like anyone is going to keep a weapon from them past relic. Crafters should be able to craft some purple and blue gear too.
A secondary weapon could be nice, but not a biggy. Like Vindictus has your primary then at later level you can unlock another weapon to use if you wish. I could see that being a viable option down the line somewhere, but you still have to take FF lore into consideration as well with this idea. Really I could only see Maruarder and Dark Knight (when it comes out) having a 2 handed sword option, Paladin maybe a mace as well, Monk a bo would be cool, dragoon ... well no idea, double edged spear to whirl around and do Jet Li moves???
Jobs, they're coming. But I want a TIME MAGE and real support roles!! It can so work.
Cross skills ... eh, I could care less. I don't need a million skills and prefer them not junk up my screen anyway. Hell back in my day I had to pick just 8 skills/spells to use.
So what you want is the illusion of customization... Yeah WoW had 11 classes and each had a talent tree which pretty much went away. Still back when you could pick a spec with talents it was still an illusion because if you wanted to play your class correctly you had to take specific talents or else you would never be as good as those that took the right ones...
Really you people need to open your eyes and see what it really is... an illusion...
The cat is bemused =-.-=
I feel like there are lack of fun skills in general, and they try to mix it up by giving us boring ass cross-class skills.
The only one useful to help me as a WHM is BLM's SC. I'm no going to FATE grind or wait years to dungeon
to get it.
There is plenty of jobs in the game as of now, but they are pretty weak in terms of really fun skills.
I agree that the Job amount currently in game would be fine IF you could do some sort of other role, or allow the ability to slot more useful Cross class skills. There is only one weapon, one build, one armor set for each job and you are really going to argue that this is sufficient?
