..What are you talking about? In XI i spent a whole day waiting for earth weather in the most common earth weather zone in FFXI just to complete ONE magian trial.

At least in FFXI there were NPCs to give you an idea of when to expect the weather you wanted. Don't think there's one of those this time.
I agree it would be nice to have weather people but did you actually just wait for 3 hours? You have plenty of low level crafts that could have been easily worked on while you waited. You could have done what I do and studied or done something in RL while waiting. I don't agree that 3 hours for rain is a long time that should not happen as I too played FFXI and remember the amount of time it took to get Fire and Earth weather for just the SMN quest let alone the Trials. If you seriously just stood there and watched your screen for 3 hours that is totally you fault.
I remember in EQ camping this guy for my monk epic weapon for 3 hours a night every night for a month. Yeah.. get real man. Having to do something that takes time makes it actually worth something.
Lol.. I remember camping Sirocco for days for that wind dmg knife. He only showed up once a day and only during double wind weather. Then when he was up you needed your linkshell to come out and kill it. .. Fish for three hours? Plz.. thats lightweight stuff =P
I must i've gotten lucky it didn't rain right away but entered the Inn and left and it was raining!
If you read your posts, you at one point claim that you don't enjoy rushing and so you waited 3 hours for it to rain but at the same time you are complaining that you waited 3 hours for it to rain so you could catch the raincaller fish I believe.
For this quest I would recommend doing other things in the meantime (Real life and ingame) and when it rains, run out there and fish. This is what I did when I got to this quest. If you are indeed in no hurry then this route is the best.
Fishing was stated to be a casual thing. I don't know why you felt compelled to do it now now now. There's so many other things you can do in the game if it just didn't happen to be raining in Gridania that one time you showed up. I sat in Gridania and did some Carpentry waiting for the weather to turn in between dungeon queues.
People like you are what ruin some more of the immersive elements in this game and sometimes influence the devs to capitulate to make things "easier" when they weren't even hard to begin with.
