“It's elementary, my dear Watson.” - Sherlock Holmes
Effort = Skill
The harder it is the better you are.

socialise with people in your LS whilst crafting, browse websites, muck about on facebook, watch some TV, read a book!
Its great to have a change of pace in the game, something that doesnt require your full attention. Sure, its a timesink but it doesnt have to be boring if you occupy yourself with something else whilst doing it.
People will say "you should have a crafting system thats engaging and that you cant semi-afk whilst playing". Ok then... so skill up on something thats 8-10 levels above you, thats a challenge and needs some real concentration.
If you can't put up with the grind, find a way to make it fun or don't craft. simple really
But can't we find a right middle between a smooth grind and an "You dislike you leave"?
I've spent 4 hour~ to do 36-37.
It's not the time to farm material,
It's not the time to farm rare material like Gold & Mithril
It's not about the quantity of shards required to grind
It's only about the big (for me) time needed to craft the material, AfTeR, you gathered all what you need.
I mean,
I (we?) don't ask more SP for same receipes.
No less ingredients (or I would sell less items with my Mining :p )
Just spend less time on the material on which we spent a lot of time to gather
A bigger % for each work <.<
Or
*An ability to do 2 crafts at a time.
I don't really ask this, it's just smalls ideas.
* An Iron Needle is:
6 wind shards
6 fire shard
1 iron nugget
at level 33 for example you could obtain the ability to do 2 items at a time
So 2 Iron needle
12 wind shards
12 fire shards
2 iron nuggets
Of course we could add something to keep synthesis 1 by 1 more more efficient
1 needle 600 SP
2 at a time 950 SP for the same level
and if you miss, everything is lost of course
yeah I see your point and its a good one. The grind could be better designed,
I still feel that there should be some different crafting leves that change the system completely. Maybe like a group crafting quest that has you and others timing your abilities or balancing out % gain with dura loss together to complete it. I'm still gutted that SE have completely separated DoH/DoL from battle situations. Theres such a wealth of potential but again... will they do much about the system to change it/vary it - I very much doubt it
