When that happened, and I saw it was a "NPC follow me", I immediately canceled the quest acceptance and explored on my own as far as I could go.
The first impression of her is soured for me, but I would like to see if they could fix her being so one-dimensional (and possibly grow to be more mature). That would fix most of the problems I have with her, and not having to interact with her as much as well. We played kingmaker with a child, and it rubs me the wrong way. This isn't the first time we've played kingmaker, but it's never been with someone who didn't at least grow a little.
Same, if anything, DT has cemented my opinion the Lyse hate meme for "stealing WoL's spotlight" is unhinged and insane. It's like they went out their way to write a character the way Lyse haters claim Lyse was.
She spends an entire zone milking sheep off screen for fuck sake, which I fucking wish Wuk Lamat had done.
This hits the nail on the head. Basically Wuk Lamat doesn't have any flaws in the eyes of the characters around her. She is just ever so quirky and lovable. The irony is she acts like a naive child even to the point of sympathizing with a genocidal AI.
On top of that your character's autonomy is completely ripped away from you. The moment she tried to force me to call her sister or lame - mitee or whatever. I was feeling, "hell no, I don't even like you." And actively it ruins my estimation of other characters like Alisae who literally speaks for the WoL basically saying "he's just so honored he's at a loss for words." Screw that, I was basically hired help for a perfect little princess. At no point did they do anything to show her having to make tough choices.
The worst part is that the other chosen actually had interesting motivations. Their presence should have been contrasted and challenged Wuk Lamat's naive nature. Think about it Wuk Lamat's only defining characteristics are happiness, peace, and friendship. Challenge that with the concept of technological advancement vs maintaining old ways. Challenge the idea that peace is not always going to be an option maybe the concept of a just war. Even Bokaal Ja they could have had her challenged by a brutal culture where the Mamool Ja tribe only followed the strong and violent. At no point were her ideologies challenged as not being correct.
This stinks of standard modern writing tropes. The barely flawed Mary Sue wins the day because she has the correct morals. The funny thing is I've seen a lot of people mock this by comparing it to Shonens like Naruto. Comparing this to Naruto. Makes the juvenile level of writing in Naruto look like pure Shakepeare.
It's as if they didn't have a proper editor that came and said. "Cut out this incredibly boring crap. Flesh out these characters more."
Imo that because Wuk and naruto are almost the same character to a point I wonder if the writer didn't just binge the show while writing Yawntrail. Just to name a few.
Both of their father are the Dawnservant/Hokage.
Both want to become Dawnservant/Hokage to continue their father legacy and create a peacefull world.
The local population hate/cringe at the both of them and ignore their legacy (Naruto cause of his nine tail demon, Wuk cause people see her as that one weird and undeserving kid of the dawnservant)
But it okay cause the few people that don't hate/cringe at them happen to be perfect guy to give a power up (In case of naruto) or to solve the Rites of succession challenges.
And both just somehow become friend with everyone for no reason.
Oh yea also Zoraal Ja solution to bring peace is very similar to the One Sasuke has as the end of the series when he want to become hokage lol.
Have you watched Naruto? What lies are you spouting?
1. True
2. Naruto wanted to become Hokage so people would respect him, because he was desperate for love since he's never shown it. You can tell the importance of the bonds he created throughout the story in the anime during the final rasengan scene where he's able to create a rasengan by himself without a need of a clone, or you can interpret it as a wanting of other people and instead he's fine with what he has now.
3. The local population doesn't hate Wuk Lamat, she has less worshipers than the other promises, but she still has people cheering her on, like her not dead father and milk-mother. Naruto had no one, manga-wise.
4. Naruto is hated by everyone, so idk where you're finding people that don't hate him. He has to slowly earn everyone's recognition.
5. Naruto doesn't become friends with everyone for no reason, he worked with and helped many of them. He usually has to beat them, Gaara and Pain. He had to talk no jutsu a lot of people, like Zabuza w/ Haku. He was also beaten up by the Cloud Ninjas, the girl that became Choji's wife. ETC he went through alot. We can only hope we get a scene where Wuk Lamat gets punched up bad, but doubt that's going to happen.
6. Sasuke wanted to create a better world by becoming Hokage, redoing the whole shinobi system that was corrupt and caused the suffering of his people and brother. Zoraal Ja had daddy issues and wanted to feel special by doing something grandeur because he's a special child for being born.
Don't relate Naruto to Wuk Lmao. Watch the Anime, skipping fillers, or read the Manga, because you don't know what the heck you're talking about.
People need to stop relating Wuk to Naruto, it's such a bad take.
Dawntrail is more like Guardian Spice, than anime. Same shtick.
I play this game on ps5 so naturally I played ff16 around the time it came out and the voice acting and direction difference between it and Dawntrail is like night and day. Its mind boggling how great the voice acting was in 16 compared to Dawntrail, if you showed clips from both games to people who don't know anything about Final Fantasy they'd never be able to tell that they both come from the same studio. I've never heard any of Sena Bryer's previous roles so I can't judge if she is the one at fault for Wuk's voice acting or if it was the directing she received.
naruto and wuk lamat are the very same archetype... it makes sense to compare them
