Compensation should have been given after the 6.1 Housing lottery fuck up.

FFXIV should implement a chat filter so that if someone says "let them fight" in frontlines they get an instant ban
The roleplay missions should all be deleted. I don't want to play as the npcs.
Lalafell are Master race
If you spam the chat in Crystalline Conflict, I will take the time to report you after the match. If you can be salty for something stupid like losing in a casual match (that's all I play), then I can be salty because you annoy me with the spam. :P It's against the rules anyway so I'm not sorry.
If it wasn't for the Garo event the queue times in pvp would be hours long. Because it's so heinously bad it needs to just be removed entirely and whoever came up with it fired for making the worst thing to ever hit MMO's.
Instead of dealing against blatant cheating that's been going on in CC and arguably in pvp since pre 6.1, SE would rather shot down 'toxicity' of a "Good Match!!" because it's not a good look for the game mode in the majority eyes of the oblivious.
Shadowbringers wasn't all that of a great expansion to end all expansions. Some classes lost a lot gameplay-wise and story was overrated.
I loved and still love Bozja, though. Which is also another hot take, judging by the forums complaints back then. Didn't love the reduction in other contents.
Ozark.
Wendy > Marty.
@me.
Blue Mage is fine as a limited job.
The way Blue Mage's level cap content was implemented is what stinks.
The FF community is actually worst than the WoW community.
The tomestone pricing is the dumbest shit ever, why does it take two weeks for gloves etc?
I usually get unlucky EVERY week in P1-4S, today I got lucky and ended up with 4 twines ( with books + Aglaia added ).
And I end up being 5 tomestones off for the last twine ( still need head too and another twine )..................
WHY THE HELL ARE THEY PRICED 495?????????????? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
Why aren't they just priced 450????????
The MSQ isn't as good as people make it out to be.
to specficily avoid you overgearing the fights to fast? As well as keeping you playing a bit longer
While Yosh-P did STATE that he wants you to be able to take a break from the game
that dosnt mean he and the Dev team dosnt ALSO want to keep player retention and engagement .
You can take a break, dosnt mean there wont be minor consquences(or major if you count housing, which is INCREDIBLE lenient at what? 30-45 days?
And the "take a break" is more directed towards the casual crowd, as a raider taking a break will have consequences in terms of power level, it wont be to major, and it will only last for a few patches, but it exists, and it should, so you can take a break for an entire tier for example and still not fall to far behind in Powerlevel to be unable to join the next raid tier when it drops with some preperations
If you are concerned enough about getting Tomestone gear augmented and are reclearing savage from 1-4 then you arent a casual. at that point taking a break should hurt, and at that point having a retention mechanism(like weekly lockout and tomestone pricing) is justified
Being a Healer isn't as boring as people make it out to be. You still get to heal.
FF14, the game where you can play every job on one character!
...Except at endgame. Pick a single main job to gear properly, the rest can wait for months until the tier is irrelevant. Your alt jobs being weaker will make you play longer, somehow! Which as the community will tell you is a good thing, while simultaneously telling you the game respects your time, take breaks and you're not meant to farm gear for months.
FF14 gearing is straight up rubbish. Bland, unexciting, time gated, alt job unfriendly and mostly pointless. I guess when I get my p4s chest my group can clear content we've already beaten 0.1% faster. Can't wait. We're not even meant to log or aim for personal bests to give it even some small purpose.
People are going to miss Zenos.
Yea, each person's portrayal is different and if you ask 10 different people what makes a good villain, you'll probably get 10 different answers. I am also glad he is unique to FFXIV too and not taken from past FF bosses or lore like Emet-Selch or our soon to be newest villain.
I've not played WoW, so can't speak on that, but I absolutely love me some Archeage and spent a lot of time there for PvE things (not a PvP fan at all..). That community was interesting. Most people were normal enough, but now and then there would be these ridiculous fights going on in Nation chat, basically a game-wide shout chat, over who knows what. Profanities flying all over, really lame insults....people would get SO worked up, and it was hilarious.
I'm totally not condoning blowing a gasket on people, it's kinda sad if that's the only way you know how to react to someone, but honestly it's a bit refreshing seeing open hostility vs. what we have here. It feels more honest if nothing else. I will say that I think the majority of XIV players are decent, but there is definitely an overwhelming smugness to the community (talking mainly the online community), and people toss about veiled insults all the time, then you have all the crap that goes on in these forums and subreddits.......it's SO much more obnoxious to me than AA ever was.
You mean complete silence unless you are RPing? Because even if you pepper your msg with <3 and :D to show good intentions and friendliness you will still be hit with a ban if someone wants to complain. I have never played an mmo or coop game where chat was mostly reduced to just Hello/Goodbye because even friendly interaction has been so easily weaponized.
Ehh, I don't buy into that for the most part. Some people are petty and will report over nothing major, but just because you're reported doesn't mean you're going to be actioned. The GM will see whatever conversation happen and can determine where it all lands.
I think it's mostly silent while running things as this game requires you to constantly be hitting buttons which makes it a bit challenging to really have a conversation.
e: I don't know how report-happy people reaaaally are in game, but with all the constant screaming online about how this and this and that should be reported.....that does totally add to my feelings about the community. Obviously some things truly should be reported.....but the online community comes off like a bunch of whiny tattle-tales who have zero interpersonal skills.
Been forever since I played WoW beyond goofing with the free trials and such but to me the community wasn't substantially worse or better than this one. Lots of people going on about their day, many nice people, some who had rough days and so it was just a fluke there was a negative experience, and then of course your village chocobo butts who were always a pain lol. Definitely not having a zone, region wide, type chat changes some atmosphere but I think if we had one you'd also have that type of thing too. Ul'dah / Limsa chat can get vaguely similar occasionally.
Not an insult either, I think a lot of people think their stuff smells great and other people's doesn't and I'm not quite convinced of that- though the knowledge of the other community is dated.
Only community experience that really threw me for a loop was LoL, also old experience and haven't played recently, do well and someone threatens you, do poorly and someone still threatens you lol. Maybe they got a better handle on it /shrug.
A hot take uh? Sure why not: I think the overall story of FFXIV is "average".
I went over from the start a few years ago, replaying the entirety of ARR (pre-nerf) until basically now and while I enjoyed some parts of it (HW and EW in particular) I just thought it was overall "average". It's good, but not great.
I played dozens, if not hundreds of jrpgs before and this one just felt "okay" at best, forgettable at worst. I legitimately went in thinking to hate it but in the end I just...don't care about it. It's certainly not "pay 13 euros a month" worth to me.
I'm happy that EW finished the main arc of the story but beyond that I'll think I'll stick with single player jrpgs. At least I don't have to wait patches upon patches, expansion upon expansion, to see what's going to happen.
Everyone is a degenerate. Alternatively everyone will shamelessly simp for something at sometime or another even if it is a secret that you will tell no one. Even if you doubling down on an unspecified thing, know that even if you have convinced a majority you will never completely convince everyone. You will never safe.
I mean, outside of ultimate and people who desire to parse super high or run clears super fast, there is no reasson in having a BiS on every class,
The biggest problem personally really is that some classes within the same group need VASTLY different Melding or oyu just waste a huge amount of stuff.
(tanks with WAR comes to mind), most of the time, meldings within groups of classes is similiar enough that if you get a optimal geraset for one class, it is "OK" for the entire group, sure, you may want a BiS for every class to play, but that dosnt mean that not being able to aquire that quickly means that its impossible to gear alt jobs to a reasonable level.
The time gatting also only really exists for a while(historical, ignoring End of expansion tiers, it is locked for roughly 3/4th of its "lifespan"(aka till next floor drop sometimes more sometimes less.. first Alexander tier was unlocked same day as next tier so thats that)), As soon as the next floor drops loot restrictions on the previous floor disapears(historicaly speaking even a few weeks to months earlier), Thats the point where you gear up your alt jobs for the new floor, yes that is "when the tier is irelevant" acording to you(ignoring the fact that it unlocks weeks prior to the next floor dropping, making it still "relevant content")
YES you are meant to pick a main Job(or at least category) that dosnt mean you cant reasonable have a second or third job, at reasonable level, unless you get unreasonable unlucky and us exclusivly partyfinder, you will get enough gear pieces for several classes in a few months in most situations, the later you start clearing certain fights, the longer it will take, sure, but you portray as if it was impossible
I like G'raha Tia a lot and he's probably my favorite Scion. :)
break the ToS, get punished
casual =/= lazy
To clarify, not every casual player is lazy, but every lazy player claims to be a casual, as if it justifies being a liability to others
Hot take: The story is OK, but people who like the story would have been better served by a single player or co-op game, and people who like MMORPGs would have been better served by a game with a less linear path through the content.
Baby faced male Viera need a proper beard option. The best they get is a weird goatee that somehow makes them look even less threatening than before. :/
The majority of people don't actually want devs to look into issues, they just want their 15 seconds of fame for being the OP on a thread. If they actually wanted things resolved, they would post in an already existing thread and make it's post count high enough that the community reps take notice, and pass it along to the higher ups since it is a million times easier to find information in the one singular thread than it is when spread across 20+ threads.
You also notice that alot of these types of threads, OP makes ONE Post and then disappears.
Doesn't even contribute to the discussion of their own thread.
Plus, some of these threads are technical issues....why are they being posted in General, when they should go to the Technical Section?
There are many different sections for these types of discussions or reports...but they all seem to come here to General.
