When the devs aren't acting dumb and negligent towards players who really need help with a bug, you should try it. It's a great MMO, just a bad dev team who apparently choose to acknowledge a lag problem rather than a launcher bug.
Some feedback dev most know about ps4 launcher.
Im one of those the have issues with 22.7gb power out.

Can you change the way we save our download progress I think is around 1430mb ( ex: right now if im downloading a patch and I have a internet iteruptiom and I have less of 1430mb we lose all the progress and we need redownload all again)
Some of us dont have a good internet connection im (200kbs if im lucky) that mean (1430mb = 1.98 hr) I know that is not your problem but that is the best internet I can get her where I live. So if I have a internet problems when im around 1000mb we lost all the progress and we need repeat all again. That really hurts more that Raubahan Pipim and Susano together.

No power outage this time, PS4 shut down normally, still got this fatass download when relogging, looking at more than 600 minutes. This is simply UNACCEPTABLE.
It happened to me again, i cant believe this nonsense , are ps4 users less valuable than pc users ? Where is our damn fix?

This just happened to me. We just changed internet service providers, so everything got a hard reset and power cycle, and it reinstalling.
This happened to a friend of mine on PS4 two days ago.
This... is still going on? Is SE waiting until the next scheduled maintenance to do something about such a pressing issue?
Still, to all you PS4 players, if you fear the error appearing (as it can appear without a power surge/outage) do not turn off the FFXIV application and simply put your PS4 in Rest Mode. This way, so long as there are no actual electrical troubles, the error has no chance of appearing again. To completely avoid the error, I am afraid you will need a battery backup or wait for SE and the FFXIV dev. team to figure out why this is happening and fix it.

Apologies for not replying sooner. I'm currently floored with a bad case of food poisoning and the only one who can post here, so sorry for the silence. I'm doing this update from my phone, so please excuse typos.
That being said, there has indeed no update. I realise that this is unsatisfying, but I can guarantee you that this is a priority problem for my colleagues as well. As noted in the last update, the dev team got in touch with Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Complex issues can take time to resolve, especially if a hardware manufacturer gets involved. In the meantime, I can only advise to take measures to try and prevent sudden power loss to the hardware. Sorry that I can't give better news for the time being.

just had a short power outage and bing download of 22gig after this ps4 system update so far it has been 8 times with this issue and we have to pay for this they should give us those days for free since they still charge us for something that is broken or we can not play at any time we want it feel s like a free to play game where they just take sweet time to fix or not to fix apologies here apologies every where is the actions did SE turn in to a small indie game company it was bad enough with the so early access 1st instance issue so you release a dlc and see all these pre orders and you take no measures for what is sure to b a hit or did they expect it to fail free days of play for us pls
Just had the same problem. Hint SE. It's called compensation. I have to download for 24-48 hours now and that is money I spent for game time. Not to mention the inconvenience. I expect compensation for my money and wasted time and energy.

Nope, I tried that after the 2nd time it happened to me. It doesn't work
For some reason, I don't believe any files are being corrupted from power outages. It wouldn't surprise me if the file check performed after the "PlayStation 4 was improperly shut down" doesn't detect the data written by the new XIV launcher/downloader. Something like the files not being distinctly marked in PS4 OS's file system.
This is the 2nd time this has happened to me on ps4
It looks like he may be in charge of communicating it, which is unfortunate since this should be on their news item. He's not a dev, so that's a different team working on it.
It's not just for people that experienced it, but there are players that are unaware of it on PS4, so a warning on their news site so that they know to be careful on how the PS4 shuts down and what are the consequences isn't unwarranted. I mean the forums is kinda "after the fact". That's like warning someone of a forest fire when their house is already burning vs putting out an alert that a fire is on their way.

If they just acknowledged it in notices it would at least save some people the headache of downloading again.
This is the fourth time this week I've had to redownload. I'm honestly appalled with the way this is being handled by SE. Why hasn't there been a lodestone post? Why aren't we getting regular updates about what's being done to fix the issue? Why is Reddit our only channel of communication with with SE? What's the point in having an official forum when you blatantly ignore hundreds of users (paying customers!) with a game-breaking issue? I get that problems take time to resolve, but this customer service is atrocious. Your lack of communication makes this way more frustrating for all of us. If you can't fix the redownloading issue, you can at least fix the way you interact with your customers.
Just happened again, third time. Not in the mood of downloading again this time, and i've just unsubscribed. Let's see how long it takes SE to fix it, if ever.
My kitten turned off my surge protector while I was playing and when I got back on its shows that I have to download the patch again. It took me almost 5 days download it last time.
Still not fix I see. Again I have to re-download. I get a power outage at least once a week, and this wasn't an issue before Stormblood...
Right now we need a refund for our playtime lost because of download time...I have 10 days try download this big patch but When is around 17gb juts tell me the need redownload all again.I allready lost 10 days of my sub because this error SE you need refund our playtime..Dev you can check my log in data base and see is TRUE . I cannot believe this still hasn't been fixed. I was just checking in to see if it was safe to use sleep mode on my ps4 yet, apparently not. After a clean install I took it upon myself to get a UPS so I can play without anxiety :/ I know a lot of people feel like they shouldn't have to do that (and we shouldn't), but I would rather improve my situation myself and enjoy the game rather than waiting on these jerks to fix it. As long as it's taking, I think I made the right choice.

Probably the worst tech issue I've ever seen with a game. =\ I can't really just make my power company not suck and have random outages, but now I get to spend three or four hours downloading instead of playing the game I paid for. Why isn't this fixed yet? :(
I am under the impression that this is on the top of SE's to-do list, but they are trying to sweep it under the rug. They don't want all PS4 players to know this could happen to them, because at some point this will affect every PS4 user. Everyone's power will go out, or system will freeze eventually. If everyone knew this could happen to them, SE would be losing even more money. This is at least what I would like to believe is going on. That they are working very hard to rectify the issue and just being quiet about it.
Silence just causes people to take to other media thou.. and like some said here.. its incredible how the Guy at Reddit is much more active and does proper customer service.. meanwhile the OF gets one response followed by a week of silence -.-
Just had this happen to me. Left my PS4 in rest mode overnight so my controller would charge. Power surged in the middle of the night. Come home from work ready to hit level 70 (Only 100k away) and find out I have to wait 3-5 hours for it to reinstall the entire game. This is pretty unacceptable.
This just happened to my wife's account on PS4.
There was NO Power Surge since last night. Nothing happened at all, she just went to log on, and it prompted her to download the 22.7GB update.
Tried to rebuild the database, and it did nothing to fix the issue.
It is insane how this can RANDOMLY happen, WITHOUT a power surge! Some of us don't exactly have great Internet, and it's going to take almost 10 hours to download the dang thing!

My PS4 Pro overheated last night so I couldn't shut it down properly. So I had to force power it down and, after the system check finished, I logged onto the game and it forced me to download the 22GB patch again.
I'm having the same problem. My neighborhood unfortunately has a lot of power outages. This issue has made me re download the whole game three times since launch. Here's to hoping that this is fixed asap.
After 5 days, I was finally able to finish the 22.7gb DL.
After talking with members of my FC, and having one encounter this bug, very few players on PS4 knows about this problem. I'm not going to accost SE on this, I do understand, they don't want to start a panic. There is no good way to break this news.
My suggestions:
Post in Lodestone: PS4 players please use caution in shutting down or unplugging unit while FFXIV is active because: (explain error). Square-Enix is working diligently with Sony to repair this problem.

People will come up with their own solutions, but they need to know the problem is there.
Technically 2 responses. But that still doesn't excuse the silence on the Lodestone. There's no panic to be had if you tell people about the situation. Hiding it from them or lack of response is really a problem. If anything it encourages user to go get a backup surge protector in case the power does go out when they are around. I've seen users be particularly nasty about this issue to other people having the problem. It's too late if someone's power goes out. However, it's not too late to warn users in the meantime to take measures via Lodestone announcement.
There's really no excuse not to post it. Saying it's a PS4 only problem - so it shouldn't be posted doesn't cut it since the other PS4 problem was posted and resolved. PSN issues have been posted in the past, why not this error?
