Uh...I don't know...the developers who spend countless hours creating digital beauty for you and your friend that you chose to leave out of a raid rather than switching off with him??

What do you think Ul'dah is now? What it brakes down to is a glorified lobby where most of the people gather there maybe sit there and level crafts and watch the shout channel for groups. Be it exp, ifrit or mog fight. Only unless you have correct jobs leveled for the cookie cutter set up people like to use on Ifrit or Mog you aren't going to be able to get in a group. If you do have one of those needed jobs leveled and have a full group you warp out to a crystal which is very close to the battlefield for the fight, there isn't some vast large world your exploring here.

Content finder is a good thing because it lets people play the game, instead of just sitting around in town doing nothing or waiting for hours for a group to form.

Not directed at me but, yes you would still be smart to find a linkshell/company.

Content Finder isn't going to change the fact you still want a core group of friends & players for STRATEGY, SCHEDULING & CONSISTENCY.

Some days you might just want to play on the whim & just do something. You might just want to see new faces & mess around (perhaps on a class you don't normally do events with).

Then when you want to get on & get stuff done, you go with your LS.

tl;dr - Yes, still need Linkshells & Friends


This isn't a lobby MMO, but it practically is already with the way content has been designed & everyone making Ul'dah the main hub.
It's never really had that "open-world" feeling of adventure & progression that we all know. Anima & instant porting everywhere along with copy-paste areas & lack of content has robbed us of it since launch (which 2.0 will hopefully fix).

It's a shame, but everyone is already in town anyway. Making it into the alleged "lobby" everyone is afraid of. Shouting & waiting is the same thing as queueing up & waiting. Shouting just takes longer & "forces" you into the same zone.

tl;dr - Feels like a Hub now. Shouting is almost the same as queueing anyway


If anything we need a dev comment with their conceived plans for this system. Are they going to design it for all content or some? How do they envision the cross-server aspect & what limitations (if any) do they have planned?

It would be much easier to discuss this knowing a bit more about how SE wants to implement it & the future of the designed content that will link to it.

(Community Team, please help us out if you can manage to get any more info!)

I will always starts from my LS first, I don't really do content with strangers unless it was really needed. (this is a simple logic really, unless you are #foreveralone guy)

Then, queu and shout at the same time if spot needs to be filled, whichever comes faster.

The way Ul'Dah is currently is just as Big a problem as what a Content Finder would create. Just because something is already broken doesn't mean you can ignore the problem.

Getting people out of Ul'Dah should be one of this Dev Teams Highest Priorities. Not adding ways to help people stay in one spot.

But like I said previously in this thread. The only thing they need to do to Make Content Finder acceptable is make it so it does not Teleport players directly into the Content.

As I said before when I played WoW I used to ask in Guild chat first get 3-4 people from my guild and then find the rest in dungeon finder. (this was for 5 man content)

Raid stuff I used to do with Guild only because you can't rely on random players in WoW, its not as bad in FFXIV.

I can understand why you have these feelings that its one way or the other as maybe you haven't experienced this kind of system in other games before, but they aren't half as bad as you make out or probably even imagine.

Agree on both counts, sadly it seems SE are determined to make Ul'dah the main hub, they put the Materia Goblin in Thanalan only, Ifrit/Moogle Vendor in Ul'dah only.

I agree that they should make players proceed to a dungeon, the problem is you can't group people unless they are moved to the server that holds that instance.

Maybe there is a way to do this, but the main reason most MMO teleport players in this manner is because there either isn't a way to do it or its very complicated.

Saying that, 2.0 will have zones similar to how FF11 did which are basically large instances so there may be a way to do it.

I'll never understand the attitude of "I don't like it so it shouldn't be in the game".

If it doesn't directly impact you, stop complaining.

Don't like Gobbue mount, or any of the new mounts? Don't use them.
Don't like the ability to teleport from anywhere, and think that teleporting should only be possible from a crystal? Only teleport from a crystal then.
Don't like a content finder function to group people? Don't use it. Continue to make groups using LS members.

Pretty simple.

Problem with this logic is, like anima you'll have to use it even if you don't like or want to use it. Why? Because what if you're that person who dislikes anima and teleportation to everywhere, you get a party invite and decline their teleport offer because you'd rather chocobo/ride your (x millionth cloned chocobo mount) to the party location because of your feelings and then making your party wait probably up to 20 minutes or more?

How likely is it they'll keep you around if they can easily replace you for someone who doesn't feel the same way? The same with content finder, if the majority of the playerbase rather use it, like it or not, you will be using it. Even if you have a choice, the choice is made for you based on what the playerbase does, this happens in every MMORPG.

Don't like PvP? You better hope and pray you never leave the newbie locations or level into auto-PvP range (Usually when you hit level 20+ you can be PK'd or asked/forced into a duel.) So yes it is pretty simple. Depending on what systems they incorporate into XIV, shouting, "linkshell/company only" content would be moot if everyone rather uses the easier option (content finder.)

Just like the goobuu "DOn't like it don't get it" well I still ahve to deal with it because its still in the game. I'm also boycotting the goobuu. Just like I'll boycott this, even if it means creating enemies or making people upset.

You signed up for a party to experience some sort of game content. If you want to take a 20 minute chocobo ride somewhere, might I suggest doing that anytime you feel like it, when people aren't depending on you.

Seriously, how funny would it have been in FF11 - "Ok, let's do Promyvion - Dem. I'll cast teleport Dem and take us there."

I'm fairly confident that this game isn't going that route. PvP is going to be limited to actual events that you willingly sign up for, not random attacks from players.

Seriously though, the bottom line is that allowing casual players the option to experience the game's content is not taking anything away from your gaming experience. You can still go do the content with your LS. Personally, a content-finder wouldn't affect me in any way at all - the only dungeon or primal fights I have ever done were with my LS, and that'll likely stay that way.
