Yeah, the game seems dead without the AI being interactive like they used to be.
Agreed.
It's always refreshing to see the game more lively in different ways, even if it provides challenge.
Though I do like and agree with the suggestion of having the curious mobs flee when you raise your weapon, that would simulate real life scenarios and would add to liveliness.
I definitely wouldn't want to miss out anything that adds to liveliness, in this case curious mobs definitely should have a place in the game!
It's stuff like this that makes me feel sorry for Tanaka & Komoto. I still feel they had a really cool, unique vision that simply needed at least another year to work out the kinks.
Yoshi P has done a lot of good, but I also feel that he's removing too much of the game's soul that Komoto tried to instill with some of these patches.
'Have to admit, I agree. The vast majority of the positive stuff that's been added prior to 1.18 was stuff Tanaka&Co. listed as being on the fix list before they were scapegoated out, and that they probably would have added and fixed along a relatively similar timeline. Yoshida's team are working hard, but they've done an awful lot of damage, too, and removed a lot of the things that made me think, 'Oh, that's a nice little touch.'
Some of their most recent additions are more agreeable though, thankfully, and do seem to be at least in part to be new.. but, even then, I also kinda preferred Tanaka's mob's priorities and all, myself XD Though I can see why most MMO players might not have, what with my putting more importance on world-building and emergent content than on gameplay and all.
/signed - A wonderful idea. I recall the efts with great fondness, my gal and our son sat for a half hour and played with the eft AI. Bring back that unique stuff. Just drop the follow friendly "aggro" or make it stop quickly.
I support everything except for curious mobs. I hated being followed.
Oh come on, it's not that old! Just shake off the cobwebs and it's as good as new.
On a slightly on-topic note, the recent patch notes mentioned that mobs will no longer give more exp based on familly, only in extreme cases. Personally I find this just another "broad stroke" to attack a problem and totally miss the point. One more blow to the diversity of monsters outside of the AI changes.
I want mah Eft AI back!
