Free Company Capacity - Insufficient Resources to Complete this Action

Someone a few posts up (and me on the second page) mentioned an alliance between the two Free Companies. And I thought that this was something the developers had already talked about.

I'm assuming from some of the replies that it's not yet in game.

Hopefully, an alliance of the 2 free companies would at minimum share the chat channel, solving the biggest problem you have.

Also, I'm rather saddened by the fact that between the time I went to sleep and the time I got back on the boards, that this thread, which shouldn't have been controversial, had devolved into mud-slinging so quickly and thoroughly ><

Hope that an alliance system is coming soon and that it solves this issue for you guys! I'm glad to hear that you have such a big group that functions well, and that people are always willing to help each other! Keep up the good work and make sure you continue having fun!

I don't think we're asking for the world here, and we're not demanding anything. Just asking for SE to consider something that would help alleviate our current problems in hopes that other communities will chime in if they are having the same issues.

- An expanded FC capacity would be ideal.
- Some sort of cross-fc chat like an FC alliance would also work

We already are doing our best to prune inactive members in the main FC. (less so in the overflow because it hasn't been necessary yet).
People claiming that we are recruiting in shout and random invites are just wrong. In fact, it's quite the opposite. We have very strict guidelines for joining. One of which includes being a member of our community for at least three months in good standing. You can't just buy a forums account and join that day.

Yeah, that's what's puzzling. We were excited to hear about it ourselves, and have been following news of how FCs were going to work since before Alpha since it's been extremely relevant to our interests, but the last we heard of FC alliances was something like early beta at the latest. At the very least I hope we can get clarification on whether or not there are plans to continue with this or if it's been scrapped.

If they have a large gaming community and want to have all their members included, then as long as its technically possible according to the system/engine and server, there's nothing wrong with allowing that to happen. Some people like small Company's, some people like large ones. I myself prefer small ones (as evidenced from my current Company), but if people want to be in one which has hundreds, thousands of members then thats their right and opportunity.

Commenting on the activity side, 5+ days inactivity seems excessive from my side (Our Own Company has no more than 18hrs logout activity usually), but since they have multiple internal teams running independently of the Company, it probably wouldn't be as big an issue logistically.

In the end though, its their Company and their people. The only real reason not to allow for something like this in the future would be if it was limited by the game or the dev's philosophy/vision.

I hope they do follow through with the alliance for Free Companies.

My husband and I, along with my few alts, created our own free company because we want shared storage and housing. We planned to eventually ally ourselves with a FC that matched our play style. If they don't institute the alliance option, not sure what we'll do.

Hmm, I think I'll pop on over to the thread for the letter from the producer live and ask about FC alliances ^^

Wow a lot of people replied to the thread while I was out for the day!

As many have indicated, FC alliances would resolve a lot of our issues, I would float the idea that alliances would be great on the premise that it would be implemented properly.

It would be horrible if it did things just like allowing the shared chat channel and then didn't allow the alliance members to enter the shared company housing! It really would depend how it was done.

Some people only have time on weekends, or go on vacation. We're not a no-fun raiding FC, we're a social FC. Some people don't really want to do much more than maybe a weekly Coil raid or get tomes on Monday until there's more content (understandably).

Ouch, some harsh assumptions there about me and my Company. While people may think of us as a raiding Company due to our numbers, we don't actually equate time spent = raiding/hardcore. To us, spending time in-game just means that you like to play the game, and that you are more likely to participate in events (whether social, casual, or, as above, raiding). What you do with that time is up to each player. As an example, we have a guy who has probably only gone into Coil once, but he has 6 L50's and 6 relics, (along with a L50 culininarian in case people bring up the craft side). We have another who runs Coil nearly every day, but only log in for an hour or 2. Another person is really heavy into crafting and is spending all their time doing Vanya and Rose/Astral.

Sometimes I'm a social player, spend a few hrs just chatting in linkshells/Company chat and do some odd crafting and gathering. Sometimes I'm a dungeon runner, spend 5-6 hrs just chaining Keep. And when I'm up to it, I'll splash a bit into raider, running Coil and Tower consistently. A lot of people pigeonhole themselves into categories or 'types', but in truth, if I like a game, I like to try everything. I'm probably more of 1 type than another, but simply saying that people who spend more than a few hrs a night into the game automatically equals raiding/hardcore no-fun, is a bit presumptuous.

I like to think I know Anna well enough to be correct in clarifying that I don't think she meant to imply anything about your FC, as we really don't know anything about it. There has, however, been some kind of belief that WE are some sort of hardcore endgame raiding FC, which is not the case. 5 day inactivity is not overlong for the FC we actually are.

It's really not hard to keep it all together, because we're already together outside of the game.

(side note: because of this, you can't even join the FC, unless you have an SA account in good standing)
