Frustration because you casuals can't get all the end game gear first month?
It's a shame I gotta leave, this was getting interesting.
No HNM's (edit: 24 hour + spawns) I don't like the mechanic. It would be better to make faction NM's more difficult. Gaining points is far more interesting than waiting for a pop.
Whats great is, he probably went back and searched your profile or the countless pages, just to get that and "stick it to you". Kudos.
there is nothing more exciting than waiting for 3 hours just to loose it to a bot and having to wait another 24 hours for the next try, maybe for months. Better yet for years, that would make the loot sooo much sweeter.
How about a linkshell bot that does that for hours? and then when they leave a JP bot linkshell come and take it from you again? Btw they do this to you every 1hour because that the repop from it? Then if you do get it , fail no drop? then you get it 20 more time and no drop? you try tomorrow and the same ls is there again? So at the end it does not matter if it's 24 or 1hour :)
At the end i bet you be the person buying there drop anyways :) have the bots do the job for you while you see tv then buy it off you and you wont be ban because you just did not know :)
Sadly Bots would be in the game there a few website selling crafting bots for 5$ a month -.- i bet that how most players are getting 5+ craft to 50 in such a short time.
SE please do something about the bots :(
I can't believe some people think they're good players because they spent months getting some item due to a shitty system. I camped Kings for years and I saw a shitton of those. Just because you spend your playtime STANDING AROUND (cause that's all you do when you camp a HNM on FFXI) doesn't mean you're badass. And please, please don't say killing Kings meant you were good cause that's bullshit. They weren't hard.
Basically you're just saying good gear should only come to people who don't mind standing still for hours because that means they have more skills than those who don't. If not that, you think they deserve it more cause they're willing to just stand there with their dicks in their hands. And are you REALLY using lag as a good example of why Kings were fun and challenging in FFXI? Hey buddy, I can set up a fight against Bubblie Bernie at 0.5fps if you want, cool challenge. I can't believe that shit, lol.
Anyway, you can go back to camping Fafnir and prove your worth all you want. Personally, I'll just go back to having fun and getting the other kind of gear, the one you get through playing, and not doing nothing in a crowded zone.
Without a doubt I am so for 24 hour HNMs and even 3-7 day respawns.
Player-skill wise they are not. But they have the patience and courage to go through this. That doesn't make a good player but it helps a good player to become even better. I also camped HNMs for years in FFXI to get items like e.body, ridill, dring and so on. Sometimes it's annoying to deal with competing ls/bots and droprates but after all it was fun, i don't regret it.
For those who dislike the timed respawn for HNM's Square Enix could add something like the VNM system we know from FFXI which would work very well in XIV's large areas.
Oh well, 24hr HNM....that's sooo 2005, can't wait for it :)
You guys do know SE is lowering the Pop times of all NM's in XI to be lower then 24 hours? Even the oldbies like Argus might end up as 2-5 hour repops.
I actually took the time to read every post in this thread and I have to say I am both amused and disgusted. The things i've read from Visch and his two groupies are just pathetic and have no place on this forum or any other, especially when the majority of the posts were insulting and personally attacking others. Grow up, seriously.
And another thing, I consider myself on the middleground between hardcore and casual since I spend a lot of time in this game (8-10 hours) and I still find the time to do activities in real life like go to school and hang out with friends. It's my personal opinion when I say I look down on those who prioritize video gaming over real life, which is beyond pathetic to me and is a sign of weakness and low self asteem. As in, "I will never amount to anything in the real world so i'll retreat to a virtual universe where I can be the best!"
Wait and see what happens, it's hours away
If you end up throwing your keyboard out the window, then get help and stop taking a game so serious
Whether we fell for this troll thread, added fuel into the flame, or went along with the ride; I would take these threads any freaking day than threads about missing genders or cosmetics.
I'm with Nahaara. I picture these guys in the real world as the type that nobody really likes all that much, but falsely feel as if they demand respect successfully. But thats just me judging.
I can't believe anyone would have the audacity to say that someone else does not have a place here in this GAME that everyone has to (will be) pay(ing) the same amount to play. It's a sad day for their community.
All I want is balance. I loved playing ffxi and I'm determined to stick with xiv, but I'm older now. I have other focuses, such as my wife, my job, raising a family, contributing to society, etc. I don't have the time that I had in that game. I know that means I can't experience as much as the bunch that does. I can understand that and accept the consequences. But don't make those consequences take the joy out of the game for anyone.
If I don't have the time to camp the hardcore 24 hour 5-7 day spawn NMs for the elite gear, give me an only slightly weaker version that I can conceivably strive to attain. That way, the pathetic bunch that plays for the sole purpose of being better than those around them can feel good, but at least (gear-wise) they really are only slightly better, and I won't have to miss out on anything else I want to do in the game for not being geared properly.
But, more on topic, don't make the new NMs of the H style yet. That would be a mistake. We don't need endgame yet, even though quite a few uneducated loud-mouthed brats seem to think we do. Rank 50 is not the end of the game (See what I did there?). We've all seen and experienced the consequences of releasing things into this game (or the game itself) before they are ready to be released.
They're completely serious. All of their shell has that same mentality. They migrate around from MMO to MMO together because there's not enough of them left to have a voice otherwise. The last remnant fans of a phased out inferior product. We had the same kinds of players on XI. They left for Vanguard because FFXI was getting too casual. Lol how'd that turn out...
The inferiority in HNMs come from making the practical and technical aspects of doing the content the rate-limiting step to enjoying the content, or even participating at all.
The only consideration devs should give these people is difficult, challenging content. If they can't be happy with that without monopolizing arenas and keeping others from playing the diffcult content, there's no point in even acknowledging they exist. Chains of Promathia was their last shot at proving they had what it takes to lead the genre, and that expansion darn near killed FFXI as 75% of the player base never even used the content because it was so painful to access.
There are plenty of hardcore players who don't want their bizarre world, and their world has been proven to be inadequate to power a MMO.
No 3am camps. No 3 hour windows. No vokebotting 6-teams-on-1-NM countercamping bull****. Let those who can kill Nidhogg kill it. Let all those who can't wipe to it. Claiming it...camping it...dead entertainment forms tailored to players who nobody really wants, so they advocate content so obnoxious to everyone else that they become needed.
XIV will never be the game they keep looking for. Sooner or later they'll take the obvious hint that most of their Bluegartr clan did and move onto another MMO.
What's HNM/NM? :)
From what I've read it's a certain drop(s)?
o-o
HNM is a FFXI elitist's way of saying "The NMs we camp are better than the NMs scrubs do."
High notorious monsters, or Highly notorious monsters. They have higher endgame difficulty ratings and more imposing spawn conditions.
Mostly it's jus the spawn conditions. They're not that hard.
:S And the issue is that some HNMs are too hard/easy for some people?
I vote "NO" for some random 24HR pop HNM's. It's just silly and very inefficent when it comes to time.
Not really, the real issue is that HNMs usually have such silly spawn mechanics and camping requirements that they cater to a specific kind of player, and not necessarily the best ones. More like the asperger ones who could entertain themselves ripping a piece of paper up as many times as they can for two hours. I mean just straight bordering on Autism's attention thresholds that would make you and I want to shoot ourselves. Or the insistant ones who will give the shell their cell phone so they can be called in the middle of the night to a camp.
The actual difficulty of the fights themselves are the easiest part about "HNMs."
If "HNMs" mechanics became more convenient or more frequent, they would cease to be "HNMs" because they would be deemed too common by the elite, even if their difficulty didn't change.
It's a terrible system that says terrible things about the kinds of humans that play these games.
Nah, it's more of an issue if they should have been added or not.
*Zilart Kings (Fafnir/Behemoth/Adamantoise) spawned once every 21-24 hours after their last kill.
*CoP Wyrms (Vrtra/Jourg/Tiamat) spawned once every 3-7 days after their last kill (IIRC).
*ToAU Kings (Cerberus/Khimera/Hyrda) were the same as CoP Wyrms
*WotG HNMS (Dark Ixion/Sandworm) spawned once every 21-24 hours after their last kill, but unlike Zilart Kings the zone they spawned in was random instead of being in the same zone/location radius like Zilart Kings.
The issue is mostly if these should be in the game or not. Which a majority of them don't want since it promotes botting, griefing, and other random crap.
Ahh. It reminds me of the Time-Lost proto drake in WoW.
Is there any reason to camp these?
SE will cater to whichever demographic makes the largest percent of the profit. Truth be told they dont care what you want or what I want the only thing that matters is what the stockholders want. So if 24 hour spawn NMs are gonna help more people play then they will add them if it will run more people away from the game they wont. Its just that simple.
If Tanaka were here still that'd be a different story. There are people in this company that make the games that need made, not the games they know they can win with. Still, no. You will never see another Chains of Promathia and you will never see another bottleneck circus like Fafnir. There aren't enough players who like that exlusionary **** to make a game for. They will just have to make do with more popular ideas.
And they are revamping the Repop times for all NM's in FFXI so even if you wanted to camp a monster in XI it probably wont take you more then 2 or three hours to go, see them pop a few times and get your claim, kill it and leave. Even Argus might be a 5 hour affair for most people afterwards. When before it was a 24/7 5 days in a row camp fest fighting against bots to hope you even see argus before their botskills kicked in.
