I may be one of the few playing Highlander that would rather have any of the other race’s hempen camise tops instead of the one highlanders get. Not the end of the world if this never happens, though.

It can't be done without listing all the race glamours individually for every race.
Let's use roe hempen gear, you'd have to list it as roegadyn hempen camisse (lala), roegadyn hempen camisse (elezen) and repeat the same for every combination because race gear uses different sliders than other gear. It's why they're the only gear that follow the sliders you chose in character creation.
They would have to remake these hempen gear for a 1 size fits all like all of xiv's gear which will look VERY different from the original hempen gear which is is very specific to that race's measurements.
It's why we should push them to make all gear based on race and their measurements instead of 1 size fits all. The better mmos lock all glamour to races and avoid doing 1 size fits all.
Hope its in at 4.2 ^^" i keep waiting it ^^"
This so badly. I love the way it looks on lala and tried it on my aura.... it is okay from the back but.... just looks like you stole it straight from a lala and tried wearing it :/
Still holding out for this. I realize it might be some work to remodel them all for each race, but its fine. As for naming them, all they'd have to do is rename each style from hempen underwear to "hempen (other word for underwear)" and if anyone can drag out a bunch of arcane, unused words for underwear, its Square. I never knew there were so damn many words for pants until I played this game. -_-
I just hope they model them to each races specific range of proportions. The bust slider seems arguably irrelevant these days when it feels like the armor determines the size of your bust and not the other way around.
This would be awesome if they created a system like GW2 where all cosmetics were saved instead of kept as a physical item. Unlock it on an alt, use it on your main.
I do remember in Star Wars Galaxies a preorder item was a pair of sunglasses. You could click the sunglasses and a drop down menu showed up, then you selected one of 3 models. So it was basically one item that had 3 models attached to it and the player was able to select which one they used.
For Hempen it could work like that. Click hempen item, drop down menu showing races, and then it selects that model.
I would even be happy if this showed up on the Mogstation, I doubt they would ever put that much effort into an item which brings in zero money.
I wish they would do something about this...they said they would bring them in a future patch since March of last year before SB. When will it be SE? Will it be in the game, or the shop or there some way around it like this new glam dresser? Can we please have these SE, a lot of people would love to have the option to choose any of these hempen for their character and not lock behind race lock.
i hope we hear soon on this ^^
I remember this thread...they never did get around to it huh.
Ah, finally! I really would like to see Femroe hempen on my elvy.
Almost a year ago. I'm wondering if it will be unlocked in the cash shop.
I don't think "unlock" is the right term. They have to re-design each hampen set for each race. The models were made for each race specifically. There is no magical button that will make the female roe set work on female au ra or such. Basically they have 6 models per gender that they have to re-create five more times ... That makes it 60 sets for both genders? (if my math isn't off due to lack of coffee in this hour) I can see why this isn't in their priority list.
Give me that Au Ra harness please.
I wonder what happened to this and the male bunny suit.
I long for the day where I can use my miqo hempen on all the other races. I fantasia far too often, and that bloody top is the thing I always miss most. ._.
I'm sure we'll see this previewed in the fanfest teasing stuff for the 6.0 release.
And we'll see the male bunny stuff once they hire designers willing to go out of their comfort zone artistically(probably never).
true but being something that already made i don't see it being to hard as they make gear for all races for each patch so gear that is already made and just make it for all races would be great. also there been more brought up about this topic in Q & A in japan and also there is a NPC wearing another race hempen set (I do know that you can't the NPC too seriously but still it gives us hope).
I don't know if it would be something for the cash shop or something they add in the game for level 1 craft stuff to make. I hope we hear something soon.
It would be very nice to see gear that shows a lot more skin then covering up the whole body. ^^;
I'm hardly an expert on stuff like this but i'm fairly sure that all they would have to do is alter each set to fit that of each of the races, not actually remake them. Still will take time regardless if that's the case but not nearly as long as it would remaking them from the ground up.
I've been against this from the beginning... but it sounds more and more like it's going to happen anyway... so I was thinking about ways to implement it in game.
Personally, I hope they don't go the cash shop route. I actually think a fun way to add the items in to the game would be through a Fashion Report update. Right now there are only three unlocks to the shop at 100, 300 and 600 Fashion Report points. I propose that "hempen" styles get unlocked at something ridiculous... like 2000 Fashion Report points.
Also, rather than change the existing Hempen Camise, Hempen Undershirt, Hempen Pantalettes, and Hempen Underpants... add new items that replace the word "hempen" with _______ (race name). For example, Roegadyn Undershirt, Highlander Camise, Au Ra Underpants, Miqo'te Pantalettes.
That way, players' existing inventories will not be affected by the addition of the style unlocks. If changes were made to the already existing camise, it will inevitably create some kind of issue with which item ends up in players' inventories/glamour dressers, etc. For example, Player A spent 1mil gil (based on my server's prices) on two General Purpose Pure White Dye and applied them to Hempen top and bottom in the glamour dresser. After proposed update the hempen style is changed to an alternate style that Player A doesn't necessarily like... so now they are out 1mil gil if they want to change it. Adding the style unlocks as separate items could circumvent situations like that, as the existing hempen items, and by extension players' current inventories, will remain unchanged.
Lastly, if the styles are added in as new items, I would personally like the dev team to use this as an opportunity to make small visual updates to them as well. Perhaps texture updates, to give them a sense of being made out of fancier materials and maybe adjusting the dyeable portions of some. If they go this route, I also wouldn't mind seeing some extreme changes made to the female highlander camise and pantalettes. For example, removing the the thigh "bandages" from the pantalettes, removing the leather crest thing from the center of the camise, and changing the brown leather portions of the camise and pantalettes to be effected by chosen dye color. I can only speak on the that set though, because that's the only race I've used and I honestly haven't looked at the other races hempen styles enough to critique changes I'd like to see made to them.
My two cent attempt at being constructive to the idea.
I am not really against the whole Mog shop thing as I just like to see them finally in the game. well for the Fashion thing is all fine and stuff but to behonest it's ok as far as add on to GS but the thing that screams out it's like grinding and takes forever to build up like the tiger mount and 2 seat Pegasus mount. Or there could be a special shop NPC that sales them. personally would be something crafters can make as a level 1 gear piece. I hope they don't really change the designs as most gear pieces don't really change for each race other then these and the starter gear pieces (also a couple between male and female versions). Either way I hope we can finally see these in the game.
I'd love to have au ri gear on my miqote
Still looking for more RSE, personally.
We have far too little.
I like having something that only my race can use since everything else looks the same on everyone. I also really have no interest in seeing lala underboob in the highlander top....
How about instead of spending time on this you take some time to make more than one partition with a door for housing? or maybe a vertical half wall partition.. things that might actually be useful for us.
Just gunna add my thoughts to this... it needs to happen. I am in desperate need of a plain white tank top for my Hyur Midlander who is trying his hardest to represent Axel Stone from Streets of Rage!!!!! Even a sleeveless shirt will do.

Well like I said, I've been against this from the beginning... I posted several times somewhere in the jumble. Just caught up with the thread recently and saw the last GM post which seemed to indicate that they're favoring the opinions of ppl that want it to happen. Which is why I'm now just thinking about implementation.
Still against this, and promote the idea for more race locked gear sets in the future. I would hope for more GC locked role gear as well. Why after all this time we still have only level 50 gear to represent our chosen GC makes very little sense. To say nothing of weapons not being made for newer jobs introduced to the game.
I still say more race gear should be made and what little we have now should be kept as is. Wishes falling on deaf ears to be sure, but hoping against hope all the same.
On a side note: Will this stop with just hempen gear, or will it take from the race's starting gear as well? Will those that demand this be satisfied with just the undergarments?
My Elf lady needs them booty shorts. Please and thank you. :D
I don't get why people would be against this. Since when has has more customization options ever been a bad thing? Maybe I'm wrong but I just take "I'm against this" as "I need to feel special for playing this race cause that's the only reason why i do."
My take is: It's pretty annoying to like the hempen clothing of one race but not like playing that race. It's especially annoying if you like making casual looking outfits because some races can do it way easier with their hempen parts. Fem Miqos for example have great hempen tops for casual outfits but I don't like playing them, fem Miqos race gear also has one of the best skirts in the game and I feel like it should be available to all the races.
The thing about racial gear and the hempen styles is that there doesn't seem to be any lore behind it, at least as far as I've played (starting HW now). Nobody besides players (adventurers) seem to wear the starting gear. I haven't seen a Miqo'te village where females tend to wear little red skirts. Where do these clothes come from if there is no cultural context? I’ve seen the Miqo'te hempen shorts on one character and of course Yda wears the Midlander shorts. If these are traditional garb of specific people groups there might be a valid point for restricting them. If so then maybe there should be some sort of reputation grind to become friendly with each group's tribal leaders, etc. However, there doesn't seem to be cultural centers for specific races. Most areas of Eorzea seem to be culturally mixed.
There are references to where these races may have come from in ancient times but these areas have either become part of the current city-states or are extremely distant. They are not likely to be where our adventurers came from.
One thing I would like to add to this point is the factor of the Au'ra starting gear. When you read the text about the Raen and Xaela in character creation it somewhat explains the culture of both versions of the race; Raen are an isolated nobility type of culture, while Xaela are warring nomads. But when you look at the starting gear it only looks like it fits for the Xaela. If there really was a cultural aspect to the starting gear, wouldn't the Raen and Xaela have different starting clothes?
Granted, I'd personally be satisfied with just the hempen gear being unlocked. But that's because of the fact that it's more than a little annoying to see it on someone of a different race than you, like it, and craft it yourself just to realize it's nothing like what you saw on the other race. The starting gear has the race name in it. The hempen gear does not. And while I may be envious of say, the Elezen starting gear when I'm playing an Au'ra, I can get past it as that's the gear you start with when you pick that race. We're not in 1.0 anymore, races no longer have unique underwear when you take off your gear and all that keeping it locked does is limit other players from properly expressing themselves through their character.
The only race/gender combos where the hempens are worn and match the racial lore are highlander males & (xaela) au ra males. In that same vein, the only starter set that matches the racial lore are xaela au ra. Everyone else just gets cute generic looking fantasy-esque casual clothes.
If they were more unique to the different cultures I'd see why people would want them to be exclusive..but as it stands, croptops, nighties, and sleeves are hardly representative of their respective races so Im in the camp that says unlock em.
I don't think I've seen lore for the hempen gear /1.0 RSE aside from a mention somewhere that Highlanders sew talismans into their undergarments, but IIRC the lorebook does have sections on cultural dress for each race which describes the 2.0 RSE. E.g. Lalafell favor loose-fitting clothes and scarves, whereas hyur favoring leather because their native Ilsabard is cooler in climate or something.
Here's a web page I found with the lalafell thing.
Isn't the Midlander hempen set (as worn by Buscarron) already a vest? Or does it dye badly?
I just looking forward to when it happens as many of us players want this and keep asking for it. This is a 70+ page thread about this topic alone so that shows that a lot of people want this. So I hope we can see something soon from the devs. :3
