After a week I finally got #18 and completed the first 20 entries. Now I don't understand how to unlock the other 3 pages of the log. I tried to talk to Naoh in Gridania but she says nothing.
Anyone else who got this behaviour? Am I doing something wrong? Or could it be a bug?
Nevermind, I just discovered you need to talk to Millith Ironheart at the falls, not Naoh. In case anyone else is stuck, that's the thing to do :)
#71 has a seriously complicated description. Just go inside the tower and climb the stairs then at the top of them, jump onto the vista.
I can't climb the wreckage for 80, any tips other then the "specifics" since that didn't help me
Never mind I figured it out. Helps if you zoom in a bit
I know you've figured it out now but just in case anyone else is having trouble I made a video: http://youtu.be/jKzd5Pf35KI
Finally getting my last one in 4 ingame hours. Coerthas decided to give me the fair from 0 to 8 am after all
Thanks for all of the people working together for this - I'll update my Spreadsheet to change times to A.M. P.M. for those unfamiliar with a 24 hour clock and add several sheets so you can even print it out properly to keep track without having to have a second Screen (or to look on your PC as Playstation Player)
To all that are still working on it:
Keep fighting (or more likely waiting/porting) - the sights are magnificent when you go into ego-perspective and view it like descripted in the log ^^

/edit: forgot the direct link. As we are now finished with the logs there won't be any editing anymore and everyone can copy this in their own drive if wanted:
There we go: Click me! o.o
I think I'm at the right place for 32. It looks right, but it doesn't say I'm at a vista. :/
Did you check the link to the screenshot in the OP? http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post2177627
#38 is making me want to tear my hair out. Any tips?
Just use the furnitures that hold the lances as jumping pads. #38 is actually fairly easy :x
Derp. Meant #39. not 38.
Does anyone have a screenshot of #48? I can't find the right spot.
Does anyone have any tips for getting on top of the pillar for #59 in Southern Thanalan?
Even with sprint I'm having a really tough time. :/
update: chocobo, got it.
I hope we get more sights in the future. I would love a sightseer or eternal tourist title, something like that.
The apkallu is nice, but man. Titles.
#48 is probably THE hardest jump to make out of the entire sightseeing log.

In great detail: figure out how far your mount can back up on the log to the left in the picture. That's your jumping point. You will need just about all the space available on that tiny log. Next, figure out the very highest point on that log, the very tip. You MUST launch your jump at that point, with grievously little room to get your mount up to speed, because that is the only point on the left log where you have enough elevation to reach the vista log. Run your mount straight through the center of the log, and aim for the center of the middle log. Basically it requires a pixel-perfect backup, and then a pixel-perfect launching point at the very topmost of the launching log.
... Then rip your hair out in frustration as you run off the vista because you didn't check your mount in time. :/
Congratulations to all those who've now gotten their sightseeing logs completed. And yeah, don't forget the one true point of the content: to make us appreciate the beautiful sights and vistas around Eorzea. Sometimes - when we're racing around doing battle or questing - we don't have time to stop and admire the view. Several of the places featured on the log are particularly stunning. #31, #41, #71 and #72 come to mind.
Happy sightseeing all. And thank you to Square Enix for adding the feature. I'm a huge fan of any extra lore they can throw our way. ~

PS. I named him Churro.
Down to my last 7 to go. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here that posted info & screenshots. I was stuck on #48 as well but got lucky... someone else was up on the vista already and offered to teleport me to vista via raise. I got killed by the nearby mobs, near the person, they raised me... and it put me up on the spot!
I just wanted to post here and say thank you to those who contributed to finding the locations, and also the people who created the google docs as an easy way to organize time of day, weather, and location. I finally finished up my locations earlier today. I have to say, the ones that gave me the most trouble were... 39 (jump from the logs to the canvas roof in central shroud), 76 (jump from wall to wall to wall at dawn), and 80 (climb up the red structure in Mor Dhona and then jump in the tree). I knew where to go, but actually making the jumps/maneuvers was driving me insane. I don't think I'm very good at judging distance, but after enough time, practice makes perfect... it's just frustrating when you are racing the clock.
I found the easiest way to do this was to organize every location by time of day, location, and weather. That way, you can keep in mind when weathers change and teleport around to see if the weather you need is up or not. A few days after making my own sloppy notepad organization, I realized someone did the same exact thing and made it a very visually appealing google doc. XD I did make some friends along the way, which was very fun... in particular, when one of us couldn't make it up and others are struggling, the one person to FINALLY make it up would coach the others on how to do it, and provide words of encouragement.
I'm very happy with the apkallu pet, but I'm wondering if they do anything besides just following you around... I haven't seen anyone else with one yet to test it out, but I know they must be around.
About 48... I think the description provided in the OP is a little misleading, which may be why people are having trouble with it. Like many others, I tried to stick to the provided advice exactly... but that's not how I got up on the log. I tried to jump from the northernmost log several times before getting frustrated and realizing I just wasn't going to make it that way. So, I went back on top of the horizontal logs and tried jumping up to the middle log at an angle... It only took a few tries. I believe I was on my chocobo at the time. Then, some other person just couldn't get it so I raised them on top of it. I'm sure it's possible to do it the way the guide says to do it, but I also did it this way, and it was easier for me... I don't know. :S
Anyone got a screenshot of #50? I cannot figure out what branch this thing is on. Been jumping around there for days now.
When you go to the high clifftop overlooking these roots (west edge of the map near the tower), you will be standing by a large stump. You see the roots extend from below the stump.
Hug the right side of the stump as you approach the cliff (west side as you walk south), then drop down on the roots below. At the point where the roots split, take the leftmost arm and voila. Vista.

Appearently the only thing that it does XD
But yeah, Apkallu indeed is very cute to be honest :>

A toad spawned like that for my leve. Is he sightseeing?
how the hell did you get on top of that light???
I want to give a big thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread! It was a great help to me and many others.
Major props to all those who figured out these riddles without help. Some of these were pretty difficult so kudos!
And congrats to all who finished!
::bighug:: :)
need help with log 67 jump can't seem to get it lol and i missed weather thanks to that XD
Im tired of waiting 3 weeks for a weather pattern to pop only for 1 hour et time. So I have to camp this spot rather than do content. Great design, so many time synch to hide lack of content
Go up the steps of the lookout and jump onto the railing. Back up and take a running jump into the top of the right gate door. Back up a little and make a Sprint jump to the left door. Walk to the tip for the vista.
Get into the railing near where the group of mobs are kneeling. Get on chocobo. Run forward to get momentum then somewhere near where there is a break in the railing turn and jump diagonally onto the landing on the other side if the pillar. It's a tricky jump.
I think the weather for this one might not be clear because I was standing on the vista during clear weather and I tried /lookout at@17:00 and it did not work. I'm thinking my /fair weather.
I got 31 during fair weather not clear.
They've changed it since 2.3 so that you can now get sightseeing locations that require fair or clear in either condition.
"Sightseeing Log vistas that require fair or clear weather can now be recorded when either weather condition is met."

Can someone tell me if #34 is broken? I've gone to the exact spot three times now and I am not getting the You arrive at a vista message at all. Tried everyone over the arch and nothing.
