This WHM looks like shes contemplating moving over to the dark side hehe. Love it.

Quickest and easiet tells are the facial markings on the males. The girls can change up or even outright hide a lot of facial stripes but the guys can't hide the V or C shaped markings on either side of their nose. The markings can look a little different, some more obvious than others, but they are always there.
i love when this thread comes back up. here's one i did this morning.

Your original sentiment was that no one is innately born with the ability to create. This is simply not true. Mozart's means by which he attained excellence (as per your opinion) have no bearing on the original topic.
Not everyone has the same giftings. True, hard work and discipline are substantial factors in the pursuit or development of something, but to tell someone with tone deafness that they can be the next Andre Bocelli if they work hard enough is cruel and indicative of a culture that portrays humankind like the Special Olympics. Sorry, not everybody wins.
Pursue your passions, but always know that there is someone out there, somewhere, who has attained your level of excellence in a fraction of the time because they were BORN to do that.
Commissioned AAAninja to draw my Altera in any kinda outfit he wanted to draw, and this was the result xD

I never posted in here 'cause I thought it was for stuff we personally had drawn. I can't do better than stick figures, but a good friend in my FC drew this for me sorta out of the blue. I've actually got a full sized print of it hanging on my wall :D.

^ This. I can't tell you how many times I've come across really great artists to find out they've only been drawing for 1/8th the time I have, yet they're 30 times better :/
It's actually kind of frustrating, especially when you see these people who go from crap to amazing in ~2 years, while you've been at it for about 16 years and aren't even half as good lol
>_> Not going to lie, part of me wants to be all negative and tell people the truth that chances are, even with hard work, they'll never be extremely good. But apparently telling people the truth and hurting their feelings / crushing their dreams is frowned upon lol
And I will stand by the statement. No one pops out of the womb with the ability to craft masterpieces any more than they have the ability to dance Swan Lake.
Some people will have an easier road than others due to a wide variety of reasons, but we all start at level 1, and it's a wasted effort to compare your rate and direction of growth to others. And I seriously can not emphisize that enough so I'll say it again.
IT IS A WASTED EFFORT TO COMPARE YOUR RATE AND DIRECTION OF GROWTH TO OTHERS.
Even the handicapped can still grow and learn. They can find alternate routes. Strengthen their weaknesses while pruning their strengths.
Yes. Only the one in first will win the metal, but that doesn't invalidate everything below it. Especially in something as subjective as art. Not being 'the best' is a down right terrible excuse to not work.
I'm not saying that you will be the next Rembrandt van Rijn, or Johannes Vermeer. But you mustn't forget artists like Picasso and Dali are also renowned.
Find your imperfections and acknowledge what make them beautiful. Make them strong while developing the techniques, knowledge and methods to clearly and boldly relate your concepts.
There is no one route. No one single objective goal.
There are no rules. Only tools.
I don't think I'm totally clear on what you're trying to challenge or assert, but I hope I'm being clear enough on my meaning.
Your artistic development isn't a competition.
I don't focus much on techniques or stuff, I know how anatomie works and when it looks right it's okay.
You make art sound like it's science but to me it's just fun and I think having fun is more important,
even improvment is coming faster when you love what you do ^^
My latest... She's a alt I never play. :p

And here's my former self! I've posted it before but it's been buried somewhere, so here it is again.

No I never worked for it, you know why? Because I love to draw and it's not work if you do what you love ^^
I don't see art as science or work, it's relaxing for me and my way to express myself.
Of course I have improved, this happens when you draw and keep drawing.
Still I never focused so much on some techniques I just did my thing.
If it looked right for me I continued and if not I tried to fix somehow ^^
Aaaah btw just finished a new commission ;)

This is my fan art of my character this is it since very long time, across a lot of universes like Phantasy star online from dreamcast, Oblivion, Skyrim, Baldurs Gate I&II, Diablo, Destiny and finally FF14.

Commission I had drawn for FC member, one goal of this was to get the anatomy of the lalafell as close to as it is in game. I think they still need to be a bit more rounded to get that true lalafell feel. But otherwise, had fun experimenting with the background as I have been trying to focus more on making backgrounds better :)

I told him but he said she'll be alright xD
Since ppl speak about their opinions and viewpoints I just added mine personal too,
if you think I'm trying to 'place myself on a pedestal above others' just by telling that I see
art as fun and not work you have a strange understanding Ô.o
seems more like you see this whole thing as competion...
And now you're judging me. Kudos. If you don't see a problem with responding to a "hard work pays off" post with "I never had to work for any of it," then there really is no point in me saying anything further. Your coy "oh, then I must be doing something wrong," was a little grating, I'll admit, but I suspect you knew that already and are now going to try to get back at me for pointing it out. If it's really not a contest to you, and not about making yourself look better than other people, don't quote or respond to this post. You've said what you need to already, right?
Hard work is not the opposite of enjoyment, just a different way of looking at it. I worked my ass off to get where I am today as an artist, but I enjoyed it, and that's why I stuck with it. By many metrics my growth could be considered explosive and far beyond the norm, but I know exactly what I did to get there, and thus refuse to call it talent.
Being a musician, I understand where Fenral is coming from. There always seems to be a division of hobby vs. career, hard work vs. "for fun", perseverance vs. a lack of resolve. In the end, I do agree that those who work hard for their craft generally is offended when someone with natural talent takes either their skills lightly or have a total misunderstanding of how difficult their work actually is. Reading back, I can see why your post comes off that way, Luua, whether you meant it or not.
Hopefully you two see eye to eye, this is all silly to an extent :s.
I'm sorry if I made you upset with my comment that was not my intention, but after all this talking about how much
work it is to improve and this technical stuff I just thought to share my thought on this-
If ppl feel offended by this I'm very sorry! I'm the last person who want to discourage someone or
tell them how to do their thing :/
What happen to this thread now , It suppose to be where we share our work drawing painting and stuff.
Here's a quick sketch I did of an old character I used to have
http://i.imgur.com/lz8IM5g.png
Finally worked up the courage to post what started out as a simple project but then got a quite bit more detailed than I had planned to do from the start. My NIN roe!

this is the best pic XD,
the fun thing is even if you can draw a stickman to a mona lisa, everyone can draw as long as your happy drawing the picture will be fun :D
hell if you ever feel like you cannot draw look at 'modern art' :D a simple square can be worth millions to someone :D
This has been sitting in my sketchbook for a few months. My alt character :D
Still unfinished, I need to get back to it, fix stuff (like certain proportions that look off >.<), and actually finish it (and finish a ton of other unfinished drawings that have been sitting for even longer than this one).

This is how i am as well, i'll improve significantly for no specific reason. but then i'll also have times where i lapse.
The truth is that if you look at a lot of artwork, you subconsciously analyse it. This improves your understanding of the subject and you'll become better at it simply because you're a human being. An artist with an art block will still find they improve once they're out of their rut, because the brain continues to work on problems in the background.
If you enjoy drawing, it doesn't matter if you're a natural or not, you'll get better because we are a learning based species and improvement is our bread and butter.
<3 post more art please! Ill try to finish sum sketches later and post. Currently my pc has been taken over by my 2 year old watching nursery ryhmes x.o otherwise id post more work ive done recently.
There's some really good stuff in this thread.
Acquired some new PS brushes, so, of course, needed to play with them. Started this about a month ago...? Worked on it for about three to four hours and haven't touched it again, haha.
So i want to see this thread boom so heres a pic i drew (after a LOONG TIME) of T11's boss
click the spoiler to see
I recommend seeing it at full size so right click and view image in new tab should make it full size :D
Drew this for another thread, to show support for equal-opportunity bunny ears! Or something. Mostly just felt like drawing my character as a Chippendale for some reason. :o

I assume that when i finally gain the ability to make a second eye that is exactly parallel to the first, my artistic prowess will flow. Until then, i have no drawings.
