OP was mad because a mentor didn't want to help and told them he was running mentor roulette for the astrope.
To me, that is worth a report to make that mentor lose his title.
He doesn't deserve a ban, of course, but he's clearly spiting on the title with that kind of behavior.
What many people don't understand here, is that being a mentor, as the name suggests, is taking on the role of a teacher.
Which is a important point.
Not everybody can be a teacher.
SE ask from mentors only to have experience in older content.
But to be a teacher, you also need :
- patience
- dedication
- basic understanding of psychology (how not to discourage, scare, grief people...)
So not only do you need the experience : you also need pedagogic skills to be a good mentor.
And this is what is missing in all those bad mentors.
So e.g : you say a sprout told you to f- off because you gave him advice on tanking ?
Why would he suddenly tell you f- off ? It's a little hard to believe he would suddenly say that to you after being given only ONE advice...
Did you tell him : "You should use shield oath when tanking" or did you tell him : "OMG PUT ON SHIELD OATH U NOOB !!!"
Because for some people, both phrasing won't make a difference. For others it will.
And knowing how to deal with that and other aspects of pedagogy, is part of being a teacher, a mentor. -

Let me tell you, I’m a mentor and I had a few bad runs with newbie because they don’t listen, watch their enemies bar, not knowing how to use their skills, or they just don’t care to listen to the people who took their time willing to help them, when their 1st healer abandon them and i stuck with them knowing that they needed my help but that newbie BAKA redmage didn’t listen to a word I said and blame me, how can I heal if I’m trap when no one sets me free! Omg! Talking about this gets my blood boiling... anyway...I still stay with that group till we defeated the dragon. So the point is, if a mentor tells you something about the fight, try to listen, one or two deaths is okay but after 7 deaths a mentor can get frustrated. Extreme boss is hard and that’s why there are 2 differently groups, ( practice or completed) why don’t newbie try the party finder? -_-

Well, to be clear, even when the phrasing is correct, the context, the situation when the advice is given must be taken into consideration.
Yes I know it is terrible.
But this is how teaching is.
Why do you think people say there are good teachers and bad teachers ?
Getting the knowledge is the easiest part.
Transmitting the knowledge is a whole different story.
I know because I occasionnaly train older people to newer work methods... it is always hard for an old dude who's been doing something in a particular way for 20 years, to be told by a youngster he should do it differently... -

There are bad mentors, sure, but I've dealt with so many unqualified players that try to tell mentors how to do their job I'm glad they don't get an opinion outside of a harassment ticket.
Stop trying mentors how to do their job an shut up and listen. If you don't want advice and that mentor is trying to help you, thank them, leave, and keep on being bad on your own time.
Unless that mentor doesn't straight up kick you for not responding to advice, that is. That's what should be happening first. -

But he didn't come for advices.
He came for the daily bonus, not to be told on his gameplay (which he's probably been told about more than once)

Stayed silent - and get a nice parse for myself.
And it already happened many times.
In the end, a "bad" DPS in a dungeon isn't actually a problem at all, less than when it is the tank or the healer.
In case of a less experienced healer or tank, I do with pots, self heal and aggro reducing skills...
If things really go bad, I will eventually drop a tanking/healing tip, but if I get a f- off in response, then I'll just take it on me and stop advising, or leave if it's really too bad.
I'll leave out all the "I am not here to carry noobs" talk... Idc at all...

And most importantly : Yes bad mentor behavior might be reported.
Though I thought I heard somewhere about getting stripped of the title, it is not mentionned here at all, but I believe a temp ban from the title could be given. -
