Happily, not everybody think like you "i want to see how others play to know if i will play or if i will sit and watch"
Seriously ? As a bard, if you don't use your ballads, you're useless for the teamplay. If you are useless, better kick you from the team and pray to get a real DPS, or a real bard...
Almost became one of these, and I actually started to understand these people, but no excuse to them of course. Why I was doing WoD as bard? Not because I like those fights (first 10 runs were ok, but after that it became just boring). The reason is simple - I needed that BiS bard body. And I couldn't get it doing WoD since it was introduced in game. How much time passed? 3 months? So after I recently finally got it, you most likely never see me on bard in WoD.
Of course this can't be an excuse for afk bards (any job actually) there, it's just one possible reasoning why they do this.
Throw all bards in one bag, ultimate deuche move. :D
dafuq kinda parties are you part of that healers don't raise? I think this goes back to the "I'll raise you when I get a chance" and "if I've raised you more than twice you're on timeout" comments most of us healers post in reply to every one of these types of posts.
I might be misunderstanding you, but are you earnestly suggesting that if you as a bard are in Alliance A, and your BLM is in Alliance B, that you shouldn't play Foe's Requiem for them?
Because if you think your Foe's won't affect your other BLM's, you'd be wrong. Foe's applies an AoE aura on the BRD that debuffs enemies who come into it. The debuff being the increased magic damage taken. You are -literally- buffing the alliance's magic damage by playing Foe as a bard.
I might be misunderstanding you, though. It just sounded like you were - if you were saying you only care if you have a Caster in your party, then, well... I don't really have a rebuttle for that, since it's still sort of wrong considering the above.
Edit-In:
For the reference, the spells on Bard that 'Only affect their party' are:
Army's Paeoen
Mage's Ballad
Swiftsong
These apply an aura that only affect party members, and thus, only your party in the alliance. However, Foe's Requiem is an aura designed to affect enemies, which is why all parties get the benefit of it.
T10 Bard who didn't want to use mage's ballad just before last (and most mana intensive part) because I had 1.9k mana left (no shroud avail).
I tried to explain that i wasn't asking just for mana i'd already used, but was about to burn through for tethers, wild charge and electric burst mitigation for people who may die , and add in Raise costs.
Was told promptly by said bard that i was bad, despite my more than capable farming of the fight prior.
Seriously, I'm not telling bards HOW to use their class, but if a white mage is asking for mage, chances are they need it. (BTW, this was during the slight lull in battle of last dps before electric burst. There was time, and more than enough dps to cover needs. )
