Post Your Healing Horror Stories.

Hate people like that. Instead of leaving and taking the 30 minutes now a lot of people go out their way to get kicked or pretend to DC to be kicked. With the amount of drama some of them cause they might as well have just left because they annoy people in chat for 30 minutes before everyone is sick of them. Need more to be reported so the GM's know their game. Need bigger punishments on people demanding to be kicked and being abusive when that doesn't happen. 10 minutes in a GM jail and a telling off isn't going to stop them they just find it amusing and brag about it to their friends.

I did a low-level roulette the other day working on my ninja and the first tank we had decided he wanted to pull everthing in qarn at once. We wiped and when we all revived at the start he had apparently been disconnected. The next tank we got was friendly and easy to work with. I felt bad for the healer though because it looked like the tank didn't have a handle on some of his cooldowns and seemed to get hit hard a lot. I actually had to tank a mob for a short time when he dropped midfight. Still a fun run after that first tank was gone.

I'm running a Dzemael HM from DF. NIN/WAR/BRD and me and WHM. We aren't overgeared and the WAR doe big pulls so outside of needing constant heals I can pull out a Holy to make things easier or a few Stone II. What I didn't realize is that they wanted a heal slave. My mp is visibly low as for whatever reason the Nin AND the BRD are taking dmg (never seen a melee BRD before then) and I popped SoS early before first boss. BRD isn't playing any songs. Ask after the 2nd big pull if BRD can play manasong. I drop dps since it was clear that no one was waiting. BRD refuses to play any song (heck could have played Swiftsong to make rushing faster). WAR pulls boss with me at 700 mp or so NIN starts kills the adds and makes the party eat a chunk of dmg. I'm full heal slave at this point when NIN goes down. I try to rez him.... out of mana. Party wipe.


I again told them that I was OoM and the dps was like "stop dpsing". I asked them if they wanted me to be heal slave and they all said yes. WAR doesn't say anything. Instead of argue, I played the style that people are expecting. The rest of the dungeon goes as planned. Everyone silently doing their job. NIN insults me at the end of the DF. I say nothing.

Not all DFs are like this and I know my job is to heal as a healer role. But good lord if the difference between getting heals plus some dps is a single button press that you don't have to micromanage (manasong or.....any song) why would you refuse to do so? I wasn't rude when asking. I was just shocked at how cold some people are. It's one reason why I stop talking in duties. People are so focused on themselves and are social able to anyone outside their immediate circle of influence.

That said, I just assume (as always) the heal slave role. The argument goes "If you want to dps, play a dps class." I think a better argument goes, "If dps plays their roles better, i.e. stop eating unnecessary damage, any healer can do their role better and contribute to dps to make things go faster.

Yep, that's just the reality sometimes. In 30s and 40s dungeons especially, the ability of your dps players and mitigation/pacing of your tank can have a significant impact on the amount of damage you are able to deal. You did the right thing in this situation by just switching to healing, although I wouldn't have liked those guys either if they were anything like you describe.

Props for not losing it when that thankless ninja insulted you afterward.

As far as the bard goes, I usually commend those who actually sing unless someone else in the group does something incredible. So many bards believe that their music doesn't matter when it can make a huge difference in a run.

Finally, the tank sounds like my least favorite type, the one who goes in regardless of the fact that waiting can sometimes be beneficial. This is not only for the healer's mana, but sometimes to make sure someone isn't locked out because they are watching a cutscene. I see this the most in Battle in the Big Keep, where a tank will rush into the second part and lock out 1 or even 2 or 3 people. That doesn't save time. It just extends the fight and annoys everyone else.

Doing WOD today, and the bard kept dying to simple mind mechanic. It being a bard, i asked him, why couldn't he dodge better, being the easier DPS class to play. The person replied "I'm lazy, so do your job and heal me". He didn't receive a heal/raise from me since he said that, and kept crying in the party chat about it.

Was doing Expert Roulette today, got Keeper of the Lake. Run is going really good, one of the DPS happened to be a friend of mine on the same server (we were gonna commend each other and stuffs~). We get to the last boss (Middy) and he's about half dead at this point.

And all off a sudden.

BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

By the time I had gotten my damn computer running again and the game launched, they were still in the dungeon, but I wasn't. I was so sad. QwQ

It'd be like commending dps for doing damage while using their defensive buffs, or a bard for playing their songs.

I haven't had much trouble lately. Except I've been tanking a bit and I get annoyed seeing Healers just sit on their hands casting Cure/Physick endlessly.

I think I figured it out. It might be Tam Tara Deepcroft HM, based on the fact that he mentioned the ninja attacking adds and causing the group to take damage. It would also explain why the group would be continually mass pulling after the first part. There may be other dungeons that fit, but that's my conclusion.

If somebody isn't willing to try then no point in wasting mana on them. I feel the same about people who die,get a raise and then die again 10-20 seconds later.
