Hey...SE...even other players that DON'T PLAY WHM ARE SAYING IT'S DEAD.
WHM is the best at main healing though and has the most potent cure spells.
Waiting for final numbers to see how it works is always a good idea, but currently with the iteration we have seen and what WHM has lost.... it's akin to gutting it. As others have said the utility is almost dead on WHM and with the RNG/Mechanics of the new skills they will sadly not live up to other skills the healers received. I mean... The good buffs we had and loved are gone and given to all healers in a weaker way. As for your argument Javid I question why you're even here when you're input, be it well thought out if you're like 10, isn't convincing. As someone that has healed in many MMOs, and played WHM since ARR, I can say that these changes are hurting much more than what you think they are. Go play the class. Maybe then you'll get it.
You guys forgetting that Assize is now extremely OP now? It's big damage and big heal, instantly, with 10% MP to boot.
this isnt' what upsets me at all though, the problem is they've asked me to start casting Cure I and Cure II all the time. I didn't use to have to do that, I had other WHM spells that made healing a more passive action and let me focus on my utility and dps skills. It seems like they're removing that flexibility from the job because I am no longer playing optimally when I maximize the effects of my Heals over Time.
This is a flaw, plain and simple and its an oversight the devs need to address asap
We still have Repose though. Is that the new WHM identity? We can sleep stuff in pre 2.1 dungeons?
Honestly I think it's more an issue with AST being completely OP rather then WHM being bad.
I'm recalling a certain situation.
Oh yes. 3.0 astrologian. In before that repeats, but for white mage. Then again, I'm still rolling with Yoshida's "please trust me" on white mage for Stormblood.
i really think just doing something about the Cure I/II proc limitation would be enough. I'll leave the raid meta balancing to others to let them figure out the perfect potency values for everyone, but the reliance on hard casted Cure I and Cure II's is so bizarre that it's going to drive people away from the job quick.
Really unfortunate that we need dramatic threads like we've seen the past dozen days however watching WHM SB was basically watching a slow-motion train derail and crash.
Forget the range of the skill. It has no range cool. It has a range we'll just move. The important part of it is the stacks. No stacks = no heals. The stacks will also fall off if not refreshed. There isn't enough time to cast cure/cure2 on everyone to try and build stacks. It wastes MP and focused healing on people that do need it. So, when the time that comes to actually use the skill there will be maybe at most 4 people.
Now, ALL healing spells gave stacks that would be a game changer.
Throwing my voice into the crowd so SE might pay more attention. This was my initial reaction upon
Met> First
Met> Why is it RNG?
Met> Second, why is it based on spells a WHM wouldn't be using?
Met> Third, why is Stoneskin on a 60 second cooldown? And why does it cost our guage?
Met> Fourth, the confessional system
Met> Why is THAT rng too?
Met> Why does it get built up with single target casts, but spent on an AoE?
Met> When will I EVER cast Cure or Cure II on someone not the MT?
I didn't even think they were serious about removing SS because what reason did they have to do that? I just assumed people were overreacting and it just wasn't in the screenshot at the time.
They could bake in a buff into Confession. Give them a defense boost per stack. Have them get 'Tailwind' instead to increase speed.
Was going to main WHM going forward as I did since buying the game but now I'm really considering dropping it for AST, or even drop healing all together and just main RDM.

I am saddened.
This thread is totally unnecessary seeing as how there are already plenty of WHM tear threads. Beg for attention much?
It depends on what the fights themselves will bring to the table and how able, or the more likely scenario, how willing, players will be to adapting.
Dunno what was said then. Didn't care about meta or any of that back then. Too many people were still absolutely terrible at the game. The only thing I can recall back then was Yoshida saying players are playing warrior incorrectly and the sentiment sort of being echoed at the start of 3.0 when people were complaining the stuff was too hard and what they got back was "get good."
I'm just waiting and seeing before jumping on any bandwagons.
I suspect the AoE aspect of it is to allow it to be an alternative of sorts to Synastry. FaustZ is a great example of where it'll shine with both tanks getting a good chunk of cure loving (and hopefully some saucy confessions to boot). In this sort of situation you're likely to be able to just hit it on cooldown either to play it safe whilst solo healing, or get a free GCD for a dot or stone in a less intensive setting.
AST is going to be a beast, I think I heard they also have 300% shields coming too. Should be better than scholars shields.
Actually, the people that went to the little show this weekend...all said that Stoneskin and Stoneskin 2 are not in the toolkit any more.
it's not sure if they only gave them the partial toolkit...but it appears they're both going to go away for that 60sec single target shield for the lillies.
From what those that got the sneakpeek said...Stoneskin is completely going away and all native utility skills that the WHM had...are now going to be CC...that we have to use our slots...to get back...*stares*
*Raises hand and waves it* Teacher! something doesn't add up here!
It's clear to me now that the white mage is becoming a preferred dungeon and 24 man raid healer. Scholar and Astro are going to become the preferred raid healers. This allows Square Enix to balance everything much easier and not have to worry about three healers with only two slots.
I guess Yoshida was not joking when he said that White Mage would be a Pure Healer type of class.
I don't understand why they took away stoneskin. At least then we'd still have MORE shielding ability rather than less with this upcoming patch. One that's clunky but always available(and unique now), and one that's fast but on a cooldown.

Also of note:
Cure potency of AB was increased
Both AST stances now increase potencies by 15%
AST's new skill (Earthly Star) is similar to assize and outclasses it completely. Assize has 300+300 potency and Earthly Star has 900 (!!!) + 200 potency, it just requires a bit of planning ahead for maximum efficiency. With this new skill AST will have an even easier time healing content plus the broken Balance. Honestly, anyone saying that WHM is fine must be trolling.
I'm not even going to talk about Lilies, they are garbage, there is a post on reddit explaining why cohesively. Well, I can adapt fast to other jobs, but it's sad that S.E. screwed one of the most iconic jobs. WHM will be even more shunned in SB, unless they change something before early acess, doubtful though.
Well despite a bit of sass they did they do have a point...there is already a thread in General Discussion about WHM (which you've posted in so you know it is there) so flooding with more topics on the exact same subject is just cluttering and unnecessary :/
