My suspicion is that it was the most used skill and had the least Kenki Cost, can be easily conpensated with potency boosts and then we played it and hated it, since Kenki was stripped from it's original purpose and now is just there to gatekeep filler attacks.. great trade off.. *sarcasm*

I play multiple alts aswell, though those I also play samurai on are on pause, since I will not subject myself to this weak limb excuse of the 6.1 Samurai Playstyle for a long amount of time beyond my Main..
and the sad part is that I wanted to complete all Endwalker side quests on my Kitty's Samurai, who I dressed her in the 2B Glamour + 2B Hairstyle + Pod Minion + Pod Mount.. but NOPE ><"

Another patch without Kaiten.

And where is the problem?
They would need to remove all the other things that came with removing this one skill.

Kaiten was taking away. Mean, one skill lesser to have a focus. In exchange gave they some skills auto direct/crit hit. That should be enough and a fair trade.

Nobody wanted the fucking auto crit (it's not an auto direct hit, learn to read your tooltips) in the first place.

And look at where we are. Severe imbalance between classes and roles, more boring classes and a pissed-off community that is steadily losing all faith in the development team.

Lets remove Leylines, Fellcleave, FireIV, Broil, Glare, Lifesurge, Brotherhood, Trickattack etc because => by your logic " One skill less to focus on ". Just cause a Job performs in numbers doesn't mean it got reduced in gameplay by pruning our abilities. Not that I don't have fun on my SAM, I just don't enjoy it as much now with Kaiten removal.

Just a side thought:
I've been wondering, do most of you sam mains enjoy how gaeshi interacts with midare and ogi namikiri ?

Personally, I would prefer both skills to hit twice as hard, instead of repeating them on gaeshi/ themselves. More impact on the abilities, as well as fitting the class fantasy of few deadly strikes, more.

On ogi, yeah. The kaeshi version is actually a different animation that follows the first cast. On midare? Now that we've long since gone past the point of "HOLY SNAP, DOUBLE MIDARE!?!?!?!" It isn't as awesome as it used to be. It was great when the number that appeared above me was above 38k, but now that they just rapid fire so much at 23k, that's uh... quite flaccid. Granted, I don't know what it looks like post 6.2 since I've sworn off of using SAM for the time being. I switched to the only other thing I know how to play at cap, GNB.

I think Kaeshi Namikiri is amazing, just because it slashes at a different angle than Ogi Namikiri, so it feels satisfying to use as a combo. I also love the sound effect and sheathe animation at the end of it

I don't think Kaeshi Setsugekka or Goken feel good to use though, they're kinda just whatever

I'd love new animations for both of those iaijutsu when repeated with Tsubame Gaeshi

I'd love Goken to be a cone again, but that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.
