You mean 599?

For someone leveling BLM at the moment and who will be stuck with the 2.x rotation for some time, is SC > T3 > F3 > F1 until empty > B3 the way to go or have things changed since I was last up to date on this job?
If you're on the old rotation
You should never cast until empty
But always leave some mp to cast B3 then Thunder 1
And go back F3
2nd answer
T1 is faster and cost less
T3 for proc
The only difference is how long T1 stay on the target (and the final potency but With luck you always have a proc)
You shouldn't be wasting swiftcast on Thunder 3. You want to be using T1 for the shorter cast, and only using T3 on procs. You want to use (in your 2.x rotation as you were saying) swiftcast for movement, or directly after a proc on a fire. In your raging strikes rotation, you use it with Flare followed by a convert.
I'm actually curious about this ^
I've been fiddling around with the Sharpcast opener and have been doing:
[Sharp>Ley]>F1>[Eno]>F3>[RS]>F4>F4>F1>F4>[swift]>F4>[Conv]>F4>F4>B3>T1>B4
Now - correct me if I'm wrong - but this should be overall higher potency than a Flare opener rotation, no? You'd still have the same hard-Swift with no proc, and with a proc you'd get the exact same nice smooth Swift>Convert transition after that third F4 cast. With the extension of AF3 in the recent patch, you can F1>F4x4>B3 under Ley Lines pretty safely, so... I dunno. Not sure what the benefit of Flare would be in this opener anymore!
Just curious if I'm missing something.
Or you can just do F4x3 > F1 > swift F4 > convert > F4x2 as well. But yeah, both are better picks then the Flare opener, with the one you posted being the highest overall potency if you get the proc and can do F3P > Swift F4 > Convert.
I'm using the Thunderbait opener which has its positives but also has its negatives (RNG), but I tend to use my F1 earlier in the rotation so that I can get the maximum amount of F4's and F3 procs that are fully buffed. I use swiftcast on a F4 after using a F3 proc when I know I don't need to use it in the next 60 seconds for movement or for AOE.
Not sure if its optimal or not, but i've found it works, its high time that I actually do some theorycrafting on openers this patch anyway ;)
No, I mean 699, front accuracy for melee. The difference between Front -> Rear should be a hard 108, according "my" recent blog post https://dervyxiv.wordpress.com/2016/...-works-part-1/, but if it's 699 -> 592, that's a 107 difference. So I'll need to rework it.
