Eh... whatever. Takes too much effort to discuss this in circles.
Just remember all of this once ARR launches and things turn out to be all just peachy sooner rather than later.

Not to be mean but, English isn't your mother tongue is it? There are so many grammatical errors in your post I don't really understand what you are trying to convey. And that sarcasm totally didn't make sense...
Oh yeah, one more thing: no one buys items from npc as is because they are horribly over priced. Why would that change after the redenomination considering gil obtained by quests etc will be reduced by 1/10th as well?
Im sorry for my english but as shocking as it may be, not everyone playing FF speak english as mother tongue.
I'm sorry I'm not as lucky as you are with your server. In mine I have to buy a lot of things from NPCs since the items aren't sold at the AH or are sold at even higher prices (as stupid as it sounds)
I'm worried that players that are already used to selling stuff for x price will continue to sell it for x price. So if a miner is used to selling his product for 50k, he continues to sell it for 50k, he doesn't switch to selling it for 5k. So, all this accomplishes is the reduction of the amount of people who can buy the product and helps to further increase the difference between those who make a lot of money and those who can't (ie: crafters that already have a lot of money, and new crafters that can't access very expensive raw materials).
Well it's unfortunate that you find yourself spending excessive amounts of gil on overpriced npc gear. I avoided this problem and the overpriced ripoff market ward prices by simply forgoing gear altogether. You'd be amazed by how little a difference gear makes in this game (ifrit reindeer suits?). Honestly you could save yourself a lot of gil just lvling off of leves and equipping the rewarded gear.
You could also lvl your crafting classes and craft your own gear. But, gear is overated.
I've not followed this thread.. but in the german forum it was said, that everyones gil (the gil of the whole economy in a total) is being reduced about 1/10 (90%) of the original gil.
the new gil cap is just a result of this because 99.999.999 milion gil are 10% of 999.999.999 ;) so you wont lose your gil because everyone's gil is being reduced. you will stay as rich as you are now in the same value compared to all other players. the only difference is, that we have much lower inflation and gil is much more worth as now.
and that the difference between old and new players isnt that big anymore. i really thing that this change is aussum. we do not need 999.999.999 gil for a player..
an other good thing.. gil seller wont like this ;) bot characters/gil farmer chars carry hundreds of million gil with them and so they just can have "only" 99 million per character. it will hopefully mean less inflation then. (gil will be much more worth then)
haha this is great i already see prices doubled on on the MW as people try to dodge the gil wipe, thank you yoshi for making me even richer
How can people be worried that players will continue to sell items at X price once 2.0 arrives, when they're actually selling stuff themselves in this 99% player driven economy ...
If the the market stays higher than 10% of what the current prices are, then they'll profit too ...
people who double their prices seem to have no logic what it really means to reduce the whole gil amount on a percentage based rate.
their wealth with stay the same in comparison to other players/the economy ... just the gil number is lower. thats all. 99 million gil will be worth the same like 999.999.999 is worth now.
and if all works fine a sword which costs now 1 million gil will cost 100k afterwards.
I'm now of the opinion if anyone wants to quit due to the perceived unfairness -- please do! The game will be far better off without you.
And with what money people are going to purchase goods that are 20 times overpriced? (If what you meant is doubled old prices). Oh yeah they can't. Enjoy not selling a single item and being undercut hard by players who will be already happy to make 50% profit on something.
What we need to ask is not whether this is fair or not. Doesn't matter. I was under a huge Impression that on many occasions Yoshi-P and the Dev team indicated we would not see anything taken away in going from 1.0 to 2.0. I consider this a new challenge on the Man himself and the team if they are going to out right lie to us about not to worry everything will be carried over and expect us not to catch them in it. How are we suppose to believe anything they say from now on if they say it will be there in 2.0 and can't keep up with their end of the deal now? I don't think we can really trust them. They have promised so much with 2.0 and I believe this to be a long list of deceptions and lies to get us hooked while they under deliver as promised. This gil reduction is the first. They even out right said we would have our own servers till the economy on the new worlds where New players would be created stabilizes. I don't see that happening now.
oh wait wha--?Quote:

it's amazing how naive some people are to think that prices will adjust to 1/10 in the market.
here a gift that will help shallow the disguised gil wipe once the market don't turn out like you expected them to be in ARR.

Quick question: if everyone continues to sell at 1.0 prices, who is going to keep buying?
people won't sell at the same price they are now, but it's completely naive to think the price of most items will drop to 1/10 of what they sell now. At best they'll sell for 1/5 but more realistically speaking 1/3 of what they sell now. It's even more naive to think that the same people encouraging this measure won't be the one overpricing, and/or buying overpriced items. Thinking that all the leathers and hides and junk items will go from 4000gil to 400gil is kidding yourself.

People are investing in stock items to sell in 2.0. Remember how we made fun of Fallout style economy concepts?
That's pretty much what we're getting. From a lore setting, it's amazing. From an MMO Economy standpoint it's stupid but it keeps the field balanced for new playorz to try and catch up. Atleast you don't lose your CRP50 to craft furniture, your gathering to gather mats, you can still be at the top fairly easy.
I am gonna feel sick lol when all my gil is gone :( i am not too bothered though if things work like they say...if not then ill ask for it back lol!! I also craft and gather for myself, just feel a little sad that they have done this now after 2 years, why not when we all started?
I never said economy wouldn't work itself out, I'm just saying some people are plain stupid to think everything will go down to 1/10 of what they sell now. I'm pretty sure we'll see inflation at first, then a deflation for a couple of months, then items will sell for much more than what everyone expected. Around 1/5 to 1/3 of what they sell now. By then most people will have forgotten or found a way to make gil to compensate the loss and won't care. Don't underestimate human stupidity, and that even more when playing a MMO.
This being said, and considering how naive some people are in MMO, it's probably best to turn into a full time crook. I'd probably make a living selling thin foil hats pretending they protect against Moogle invasions.
Two errors in this post:
the first is the idea that the difference between new and old players wont be severe. This isn't true because all methods by which a new player will obtain gil will also produce one tenth of the gil it currently does. So the difference will be no different than it is now.
the second is this idea that bots and gil farmers will be hit hardest. Actually, they will be hit the least. They most likely already have capped gil amounts. And as was pointed out by Noctis, the gil cap isn't being reduced to 99mil (uconfirmed imho) but just their current gil. Which means with less gil in circulation gil sellers will have a bigger potential market to sell to if players dont adjust their prices to 10% (which they wont). And since they are bots afterall it wont take them long to bot their way back to gil cap. Sure it will take 10x longer than before but they are still doing it at a rate 2-6x as fast as any other player who plays 4-12 hours a day since bots run 24/7.
Lol guys are you really out of things to argue over? The discussion in this thread has trivialised to a guess game at what percent MW prices will drop to. 10% 20% 30%... greater fluctuations have happened in the market for simple supply/demand reasons, and will definitely happen after we switch to 2.0 and so much changes.
The point is the effect of redenominaton on the market will be drowned out by so many more significant factors. All anyone can say for sure is prices will drop globally and eventually find new values based on supply and demand. This may be more or less than 10% of what any given item is worth now, but it will depend on the item itself more than the redenomination.
All Gil is being reduced to 10%, including the gil cap. So basically... nothing is changing. If you're actually capped, you'll still be capped.
I practice the ancient chinese art of divination by applying a hot iron to turtle plastron and interpreting the sounds produced by the cracking of it's shell. When this method turns out inconclusive I supplement my imperical data by Augury, the interpretation of bird's flight patterns.

You gunna make up your mind Noctis? I'm starting to question the validity of anything you say...
