The last boss is a lot easier than most bosses in the whole raid series, the sad part is that phase 1 was a lot more interesting, at least unique if not difficult, but as a FC mate of mine put it, phase 2 made the final boss dumber.

This was the biggest issue I had with the story... after all the exploration that Prishe and Alxaal enjoyed in XIV's world, they still instantly wanted to go back to Vana'diel, where neither of them had been truly from to begin with. I really don't like how the story itself seemed to keep sidestepping the fact that they were both anomalies and didn't actually belong in Vana'diel because the true versions already existed there.
And not only that, but their electrope was clearly running out, and maybe my FFXI knowledge is a little old, but I don't remember tech in general in Vana'diel being anywhere near as advanced as some of the lands in XIV... so they're just dead as soon as they arrive I guess? Or they will have a few days at most, and then die. Why wouldn't they stay here and at least have a hope of someone like Cid or the Alexandrians figuring out how to restart/recharge their electrope cores? It was like some kind of Old Yeller ending, where the WoL is like "haha of course I'll visit you someday!" like an obvious white lie, and Shantotto leads them back home where they just get a bullet in the head.
What's also kinda hilarious though, is that those two staves should be the same quality, but the Light staff is clearly something new, like maybe ripped from Dissidia, while that Fire staff looks like it was ripped right from XI with it's low poly ugliness. So they didn't even really get them using the same staff model when that Fire staff probably should've been updated for this.
Checking Garland Tools, the NPC staves are custom weapons. Main Hand 8015-4-1-0 (Custom) seems to be the new Light Staff, while Main Hand 8015-1-1-0 (Custom) seems to be an updated Fire Staff used by the Hume BLM in Jeuno near the fountain.
We can hope that they release an updated version for WHM and BLM, where the orb can be colored to give you the type of staff you want.
Overall, it was better than Myths of the Twelve, but it's still references to a game I've never played and don't particularly care to play.
I have never played F11 but i liked the raids. I expected some fan service and i got some fan service. It would be nice, if they would combine both subs. So i propably would try FF11.
Cheers
Please revert the Promathia arena to the way it originally looked.
I was thinking about this today and realized they actually made the Fire staff WORSE with this update. I have an image from when I think the first FFXI raid had launched, and the black mage hanging out in Jeuno actually had the nicer, newer version of the staff:

But when you go back to the black mage now, it's actually the OLD/WORSE staff on his back instead!

.... I wonder if it was a mistake that they changed it back?
It could be that the new light staff is a WHM weapon or maybe they didn't realize they already had a BLM weapon when they used the new staff. The NPCs actually use the weapons and cast spells in the Windurst raid off to the side of the Besieged fight, so maybe rather than make a BLM version of the light staff for the NPC to use and have the right animations they just rotated the old Shantotto Staff instead, and changed him in Jeuno to match? I can only assume how their item creation/implementation processes work.
It could also be that they did it as a way of saying they saw our feedback about it being rotated.
Maybe they should downgrade the whole raids so that they exclusively use ff11 graphics like that.
