Desynthesis Endgame Guide

Chimera felt sash of casting 11800 gil from node. I buy 100 each time.

I get this as a low end result since I was above 175 weaver skill

6 hq silk 15k
100 lightning cluster 1k

I have had upwards of 40 chimera felts at a time and this is pretty much an average of my low end results. It did "appear" I got more low results using bacon broth over tinkers balm. I did not test extensively though.

The above results still are profitable if you sell everything, but it is not worth my time anymore. I have a nin that sends me stacks of chimera manes now and this is no longer the cheaper option for me.

I would love an answer to this question as well, and if no one else tests it, will test it soon.

However, to answer the question, "at what point do you have an exactly 0% chance to desynth the HW items," the answer is either 85 OR 90 depending on the class. For BSM, there are zero r115 desynthable items. Believe me, I looked. So, for BSM, it would be 90 dSkill. For other classes like GSM, however, there are r115 items, so you can start five levels sooner.

Now, I have actually never tried desynthing something that I had a 0% chance at without any boosts and adding in boosts to see if it's possible to boost from 0% (or from below 0%). Either way, if you're boosting from 0, below 0, or just above 0, remember that in addition to tinker's bacon, you can use materia for meldable items. Pretty much all of the lowest level HW stuff is meldable. So, if you're at 90 skill and want to desynth a Mythrite Claymore, if you meld it with three materia and use Tinker's Bacon, if boosting from 0% works, you'll have a 30% desynth chance instead of 0%. Still not great, but doable. If you can boost from below 0%, you could even start earlier. I don't know what would happen though, if it's still -1.5% per level below 0 or what.

At 91 BSM skill, I'm pretty sure it said 16.50% chance with HQ Bacon Broth and Tinker's Calm together for Mythrite Pugiones. I can't imagine that being worth it at that skill level. At some point soon I'll get back to levelling BSM to 100 skill, and I can check then.

You forgot to meld. For just ~400 extra gil per desynth, you could have boosted that to 26.5%, which is far more reasonable. For ~900 extra gil per desynth, you could have boosted that to 31.5%. Assuming, of course, you could find cheap materia for ~200 gil each. Since you will gain 9 levels from 10 successes, at 31.5%, you only need ~33 attempts. 33 attempts at ~16,000 gil each if you buy them is ~500,000 gil to get from 91 to 100, which is.... actually pretty expensive. Hmm. There has to be a better way. I really need to stop slacking off about the database. Entering literally thousands of items is exhausting though. It's about 500 per class, plus about a thousand mats. I'm only up to about 1,500 items so far, and I know I have about ~2,500 to go... And then there's the dungeon loot, which is harder to add to the database.


Still, I'm still wondering though what the chance would be with 90 skill in your situation, or 89 skill. Would they be 15% and 13.5% respectively, or would they both be 0%? In other words, can you boost from 0 if your skill is right on the edge?

Not really all that viable a Desynth for powerleveling, I decided to spend 1740 Allied Seals I otherwise had no use for on a Flame Elite's Katzbalgar. At 79.79 BSM Desynth skill I had a 68.00% chance of successfully Desynthing it. I blew it :(

What's the max desynth level? Mine is at 135 and it's my only desynth leveled up (CUL) and for what level I should aim for?

Ah, melding...of course. But yeah, I'll stick with Summoning Bells all the way to 100 probably. It's not that bad as long as my friends don't get tired of me. :P

And my best guess about being able to boost from 0% is that you can, but it goes into the negatives. In other words, if 90 skill meant exactly 0% chance, then you boost it from there, but if 86 skill was -6% chance (which would display as 0%), and you boosted it by 10%, you'd have a 4% chance of success. Those are all just example numbers. I forget what the actual numbers would be.

It seems be 180 the max desynth now, atm im 170.23 in CUL, but sadly nothing much to do now with it as just crafting mats & some materias seems to be the better desynthing fish from HW. Though not much info for the folklore fish yet, 60* star fish hard to find and low rate to desynth yet (though doable like 35% with buffs now, havent take time to get other recently as im leveling other stuff)

Sitting on 170/171/172 on ARM/GSM/WVR atm. 145, 150 stuff only give 0.03 skillup, or less. Dungeon drops 0.10->0.20. Max is 180, I presume.

That's what I originally expected, but then I realized that it's not a constant 1.5% per point. When your desynth skill is within 10 points of the item's rlvl, it's 2% per point. If it's within 30, but not 10, then it's 1.5% per point. So, if it's 31 away, who knows? Maybe it's 100% per point, meaning something that's 31 above your skill will always be 0% even with all the buffs available (Careful Desynth +6 and 5 Materia melded, which is +40%, biggest possible bonus right now).

Oh, hey, someone with high CUL desynth and access to 60* fish! When you get a chance, could you please post here what your exact CUL dSkill is, and the exact chance to desynth a 60* fish with that dSkill level? You don't have to actually do the desynth, just check the %. I want to verify if they are r180 or not.

If they are r180, with 170 CUL dSkill, your chance without buffs should be exactly 30% (170-180=-10; -10*2%=-20%; 50%+(-20%)=30%).

Well, if I stop putting it off and I get to 100 BSM skill and beyond, what do you think I should test this on? I imagine checking with some weapon that's ilvl 133 at 102 skill and then 103 skill? Rlvl equals ilvl with those weapons, right?

Ohh ty for the info rescue, well now to get those folkore tomes and try to confirm that dusk leather came from 60* star desynth, yep those seems 180 desynth because stormcatcher is 60* and when i had skill 165.46 chances were just 22.50%, now that im at 170.52 need to catch it again and see, though im think stormcatcher is the only 60* that not need folklore to catch them

I was 84.67 this morning in Culinarian Desynth, I used a bunch of the gear ive been stashing on my retainer to cap out my seals and buy glacier crystals in mor dhona. I turned those in for 20 better crowned pies and blew them all up under a hq tinkers calm and nq bacon bread. That took me to almost 89, then still under the buff I had a 10% chance on icepicks. I bought 300 off the mb for dirt cheap and burned them all down under two tinkrers calm in ten minutes. I finished off with sky fairies, and then star fairies and threw in some philosophers stones and illuminati perch for good measure. One hour later I'm now 150 culinarian desynth...

Where to go from 166 Cul desynth?

is there a reason the i85 crafting tools can't be desynthed?

I've been struggling to get my crp and bsm desynth high enough for the i115 stuff and this seemed like a good place to go, but I made a Mythrite Halfheart Saw to desynth and it said it couldn't be desynthed. It wasn't my level either, there was no 0.00% like with the other stuff I'm just not high enough level to do. Farming primals is tedious and takes alot longer than it should for something that isn't anywhere near cap anymore.

Try unequiping it before you desynth. The 52 tools in my inventory all show the option, however the one currently equiped does not.

Remember that ilvl (item level) does not always equal what I've been calling "rlvl" (Recipe Level, though it turns out the game uses that term for something slightly different, so I've deemed their Recipe Level to be "Craft Level" ("clvl")). The rlvl is all that matters for desynth, not the item level. otherwise, those Bridesmaid's shoes (which are i1, but r70) would have been desynthable by anyone, not only people with high LTW desynth, and they would have dropped no demimateria at all.

That Mythrite Halfhart Saw, despite being i85, is r125. You'd need a skill of ~110 to start on that.

And yes, that item is desynthable.

So the only things worth a damn to desynth for bsm from 60-90 are still primal weapons? That's frustrating.

If you're looking for skill .. Tinker's Bacon and the Summoner's Bells seem to be decent.

Oops. I completely forgot to stop at 100 BSM skill and test out your negative, 0% skill theory. I'm sorry. :( All I can say is, uh, 117 skill is required to get 100% on a Wave Harpoon (ilvl 95) with NQ Bacon Broth and HQ Tinker's Calm.

And almost on the dot, I got 5 BSM skill points from 80-100 every 20 Summoning Bells with HQ Bacon Broth and Tinker's Calm. It was surprisingly, and frustratingly, consistent. Now it's going even slower because I have to meld two materia to every single Mythrite Pugiones...but I guess I'm getting somewhere. Making a little over half my expenses back from it all, but man, it's not so fun right now. But it's cool, just wait until the Expanse weapons become desynthesizable and we can get Demimateria of the uh, Clouds (Bismarck), and everyone will want cool cloud weapons!...right?

Anyway, Mythrite Round Knives and Hatchets do indeed come from the Traveling Merchant at Tailfeather or, according to xivdb, the Vath Merchant at Loth ast Vath. Something interesting about that: At 130 skill with NQ Bacon Broth and HQ Tinker's Calm, my chance at Mythrite Stilettos is 62.50%, but with the Round Knife/Hatchet it's 72.50%. So even though they're the same class level, their recipe level is different. I didn't think that would happen until much later in class levels.

Lot of the items have a different rLevel and cLevel from what I noticed leveling up tri-desynths. There was some inaccurate leveling paths on the guide as well that I noted because of this, but I was having trouble at the time logging int to post about it, and now I don't recall which. But, I'm pretty sure it was with Mythrite for armorer, or rainbow for weaver from vendor, and there was a slightly more expensive 100-200gil option that had a 10% chance higher desynth. This was first week of HW, though.

is the dust leather confirmed or just what has been said on forums?

FYI, under the effects of the NQ Bacon Broth, and a skill of 97.33, I have a 13.00% chance of desynthing Mythrite Pugiones.

Not sure if that is a data point that you were looking for.

No, it was faked. It's very likely Dusk Leather doesn't exist yet. I imagine it will be added in 3.05.

6 Aurum Regis Nuggets (1 of which was HQ) (usually yielded 1, but did yield 2 once)
5 Hardsilver Ingots (2 of which were HQ)
3 Scale Glue (1 of which was HQ)
21 Fieldcraft II's (yield was ranging from 1 to 3)

haven't gotten anything special at lvl165 ltw desynth on i160 stuff

Can anyone help with Cul desynth after 166? Don't know where to go from here.

Most likely best quality fishes/food, besides the new 1 star food. Don't think many people have dabbled into fish

Anyone else who struggles with Carpenter (mine is 75)? Varnish cost 5-6k and no one does HM primals anymore.

The only way I can think of is desynthing about 300 aged spears to get like 50 spear shafts, then making perfect firewood and trying to desynth it with bacon and tinker.

Any ideas?

Most likely the best idea, and probably cheaper/less time consuming than any other alternative

Desynthed 49 pieces of perfect firewood.

With broth and tinker it was 50% average.

Game's "rng" scammed it into 37% average though (18 success 31 failure)

Got .45-.65 per successful desynth.

Varnish is a level 41 ALC recipe, takes two Raw Amber, 1 Linseed Oil (aka 2 Flax), and 1 Terebinth.

If Varnish costs that much on your server, might be worth leveling your ALC a bit to make for your use, and to sell.

Flax and terebinth cost quite a lot as well, profit margin ain't high enough to bother.

Vendor sold, and botany retainer gathered (or gathered yourself), for the terebinth and flax, respectively.

Most expensive part of it is going to be the shards. But even there, at 4k that's a very large profit margin, if you have those classes leveled.

stupendemys 60* and folkore need,

1st one: desynth skill 173.49 (unbuffed) sucess rate 36.00% -> into blue pigment, 2 water cluster, 2 wind crystal
2nd one: desynth skill 174.21 (unbuffed) sucess rate 38.00%
