Dragoons like myself should be able to have a jumping bonus compared to the other jobs. It would only make sense, it's lore! But really, I would love to see how they can even out jumping with lalafell jumps compared to roe jumps..

RPGSite: Last question… what core mechanics—if any—are being drawn from western MMO developers? Such as the option to do things like swimming and jumping?
Yoshida: I’m a very hardcore gamer, and one of the first things when I got onto FFXIV was that I wanted to add a jump feature. When I threw that out to the community, what surprised me was that a lot of players were against that idea. Their complaint was that you shouldn’t be able to jump in a FINAL FANTASY game! Just because it’s in all the other MMOs, does it fit with the image of FINAL FANTASY? For example, people didn’t want to see Lalafells jumping all around. Personally, I don’t like the fact that my character is bound to the ground, so I definitely want to add a jump feature.
mounts and jumping
well hello there ancient thread from the XIV dark ages...
i thought it was already fully known that 2.0 will have jumping.
we have jumping now, it was added a few patches ago: /happy

heres your jumping!
Pretty sure offline games try for immersion as well. I know Xenoblade was pretty immersive, despite the fact that it had jumping. How is not being able to jump a few feet more immersive than being able to?
Also since it's "toony", we gotta remove Dragoon. Because they can jump, and I don't want to play WoW guys I wanna play a serious MMO.
DRG's jump ability is an ability that fits the lore of the job.
As for the thread...I don't see the point in having a bunny hop feature for the sake of it. WoW has a jump feature but has content that requires you to utilize it in an intelligent matter. If we had content that required the feature to jump implemented I would be all for it. As long as it's not an useless animation that the devs don't have to waste their time on.
However if a jump feature were added, if added as an action command(requring something to prompt the player when to activate) that will give us the jump feature and restrict any bunny hoppers!
Just make all the races jump the same height, regardless of their size. Problem solved.
Wow, you've really been living under a rock, haven't you? It's been confirmed in several interviews, and Yoshi-P even showed a video of the prototype jumping animation during one of the Live Letters that they've done a couple times. So don't accuse other people of "talking out their ass" when really it's just you who's failed to keep up with the news.
It has nothing to do with WoW or Aion, it has to do with the fact that the game is 3D.
A 3D game needs to have some kind of jumping, either contextual jumping or a jump button, or else navigating the terrain will be super annoying (which it was in FFXI).
People seem to be deeply confused.
I unlocked DRG this past week, and the first ability they gave me was "Jump". A few levels later, I got "Elusive Jump". At the end, I got "Dragonfire Dive" which is also a jump ability.
You got three of them and one of them even spews fire!
(Also, Full Thrust and Doomspike.)
Lol who cares, why was this thread dug up, why are people even posting in it?
We are getting jump.
Sorry to those that don't like it and hurray to those that do.
Of course! We all want maps that support jumping very well! :D
That goes without saying... or not, haha. :D
I agree with some of what you say Gramul, that's why the jump debate is still on-going. We have no proof the devs are not repeating the same mistake again. Only a vague date of a future jumping feature.
I believe all maps should be designed two-folds: main non-jumping routes, remote/hidden paths that require some jumping and careful walking (no more bottomless pits with invisible wall please, I want to be able to fall and make monsters fall :D).
You want to reach something you are not "supposed" to reach, jump to it (but designed to actually support someone going there with jumping, like rooftops, bottomless cliff sides, etc.)!
That way, non-jumper players can continue to play as usual and use the main routes. Jumpers can use the shortcuts and explore further (and spy on non-jumpers from rooftops).
wow, just got curious to see your post so far, most of your post are full of hate and nothing contructive always complain at everyone else's idea without even do a good comentary or sugestion, are you a hater?.
I believe they might give us this option later on when they give us an use for it, so far we have the jump from drg wich is very practical and useful besides the fact of only reset hate , example, when you run low on HP or more monster just linked at yah and get the urge to scape from them.
And yes i do jump just to make fun of it sometimes but it has a cool down timer to avoid people spam it, i bet most people give down to the temptation while playin drg and do it just cause its fun.
I like how people try to make it sound as though Dragoon's Jump and the literal action Jump are the same thing.
Why does this thread exist? Yoshida already said he was putting in jump. He even showed you a tech demo..
Look, you're all insane. It's just jumping (like up and down, etc). It's just another domain of movement.
/sigh ... only on a final fantasy forum...
Im not really for jumping on this game. Especially when it comes to falling and stuff like that. I do agree it would make it slightly more "realistic". Have to be careful not to make the game look goofy like wow.
The physics on jumping in most MMOs are closer to reality than the physics in the kind of games you're thinking of (e.g. you don't jump like 3x your height)Quote:
The physics just feel...not right.
Now the argument has swayed towards "We don't want jumping because it won't be well implemented". This is a Final Fantasy game. How can you think they would settle for "poorly animated jumps"? You know that when they put jump into the game it'll look great, so why fight it?
