Hi,

Just wanting to add my own experience, I ran into the same Black screen AFTER logging in and pressing the play button as everyone else here, began after the 6.2 patch dropped and continued until, after much searching and re-installing the entire game I came across this thread.

The previously mentioned steps have worked for me:
Run via normal steam launcher.

Log into the launcher but do not yet press the Play button.

Using Task manager, end all running Steam tasks (trying to exit steam itself won't work as it will force FF14 to close before it will exit).

Once all Steam tasks are ended, press Play on the FF14 launcher, everything now works as expected.

Hope this helps with any technical diagnosis for the Moderators to pass on to the Developers.

Loving FF14, even more now I can again access it :)
