Sorry, but Content deal finder again.....

It's going to be a pain in the ass to coordinate entering an instance, especially because all of the present content is on a timer. You can essentially be held hostage by someone on another server who's not ready, or enters the instance and is AFK. Yes yes, this can happen on the same server, but there are no repercussions for someone on another server.

I just have a bad taste in my mouth from the dungeon finder in WoW.... people will disagree with me, but I think it really degraded the community to something worse than it already was. FFXIV has an amazingly good community and if it were to take a hit because of this, I would have less of a reason to log on.

Instances are by definition a Single series of events. In an open world situation any number of factors can change freely.

What factors are available in open world, aside from other players/groups, that aren't in instances?

Before you post any more I have to ask, is PGL 14 your highest job/level?

And in XIV there is basically no open world, so its pointless to compare the two.

We can compare from other games Open World/Instanced content but people will freak out and go nuts.

Does it matter? If someone dismisses my point based on that, instead of based on some actual verifiable fact that directly disproves my point, I don't care and it's a good thing the conversation is over.

And FFXIV has plenty of open world. Crafting, leveling, Shposhae, Beastman Strongholds, NMs, escorts, whatever. Did you mean to say FFXIV has no open world content that offers best-in-slot items? Then yes, you're right. And I think that's a great thing.

I asked what your max level is, because I prefer to argue aspects of a game that both parties involved have experienced. This helps in terms of the validity of said opinions. This is like arguing with people who are against FFXI idea, who never even played the game.

FFXIV does not have much in terms of Open World content, regardless of what you may seem to think. When compared to other games, its so minimal that it is practically non-existant. You can tell that its devoid of content when someone includes "crafting" as open world content.

I genuinely look forward to 2.0 in hopes of Open World content matching that of Instanced Content. There has been alot of Dev comments on all of the FFXI-ish open world ideas lately. Also, those opinions have gotten ALOT of positive feedback that has most certainly been noticed by the development team.

I agree however, the best gear in game does not come from Open World content. But I definitely look forward to that being evened out in the future. I think that, would be a great thing. :)

It's less about what is available and more about how content must be presented. Contrary to popular belief, Instances are not created to prevent competition, they are created to save resources. You sacrifice variability to ease the load on a single server. If you allow for a single instance to have a large set of variables you instantly take away any and all resources saved by forcing your servers to store and load a large number of different versions of the same instances. Open world event only occur once at a time. You can have all the variable occur at random, but only one set will ever happen at any given time.

WTH they are not real ppl, you play with virtual characters in virtual world either they belong to your server or not.
Do not use it if you got some kind of nonexistent to everyone else problem.
