Yeah, it's been happening since Cataclysm honestly, after Dragonsoul, then in MoP after Siege, and now again after HFC, but moreso with Warlords, it's been....kinda hellish, 2 content patches for the life of the expansion, small ones at that, an entire continent cut out of the product, probable year+ of no updates.....and then people complain about what FF gives, while FF isn't perfect, I have people on my friendslist that only play WoW looking at the 3.2 trailer saying "holy shit, that one patch gave more than an entire expansion on WoW" it just gives a little bit of perspective for me.

Agreed. I played WoD casually at launch, and enjoyed the leveling experience well enough, but garrison work and apexis dailies made me want to blow my brains out. XIV is far from perfect, like you said. They've tripped up here and there in the expansion, and I still think raiding is this game's biggest weak point right now. However the good I've experienced here far outweighs the bad, so I'm more than willing to stick around and see what the future brings.

Well, he kind of had the point though. I would be excited except it's the same re-hash of the old Yoshi P. Formula we have been getting.


2 New Dungeons - Run it a couple of time and now you have to run it 100x for 3 Months for new Tomb.

New Beast Tribe - Exact same thing, fetch and kill quest. Boring.

New Primal - It look like a very cool fight until a couple of weeks everyone get their weapons and not touch it anymore. Also it done by the person who made Titan, so expect a lot of similarity. Nothing spectacular like Thordan.

Hall of Novice - Look pretty fun for people who begin the game for the 1st time to train and get new gears. But waste of development time TBH.

Sea, Cloud, Sky - An Instance where a Dummy fall from the sky where you test your DPS without anyone knowing. * Pat yourself on the back well done after it finish * More waste of development time when we already have parser that can do a better job. This is pointless.

New PvP - Same old re-hash with different rules. Boring.

New Tomb - Yay, more tomb to grind to max out ilevel when it become obsolete again in the next 3 Months.

New Hildebrand Quest - Everyone gonna finish it in one day, and the humors is getting out of hand. Lots of the jokes are really force that it so cringe to watch.

New MSQ - ARR Main Quest was better. Heavenwards is very mediocre, lots of people will just skip through the scence and get it done quickly.

Diadem - Doesn't look like they even put in any effort to improve it. Just decreased the time. What happens to the thing they promised like a set goal to guarantee loots when in there instead of a grind fest?

Alex Midas - The only thing looking forward to, but a lot of the floor and mechanic are re-hash. It seam too similar to the other floor and honestly Alex is very boring in term of boss, mechanic, theme compare to Coil. There only 5% of people interested in doing it.


If you are Happy with this patch, then I guess you can keep looking forward to the same old re-hash 2 New Dungeon, 1 New Trial, New Beast Tribe, continue of MSQ, Alex Stomach, New Tomb to grind over and over again for many more patches :P

beast tribe quests have always only been about the story between each tier. The quests themselves only serve as a way to get experience/tomes.

People keep complaining that the playerbase is bad and doesn't even know the basics of the game (I do that too). Devs provide a clear way to learn these (in case the guildhests weren't enough). People now complain that it's useless ? Get your stuff together, will you ?

Oh yeah, PS3/4 players totally have a parser already.
Also yeah, having a parser totally tells you that YOU have enough dps to clear X content when in fact your tanks, healers and/or co-dps are just carrying your ass because you're 300 dps under what you should do. at least these dummys will hard-tell you that you aren't as good as you thought you were.

TOME. 3 years in, it should be time to learn how it's called. anyway, you're welcome to tell us your miracle solution to get rid of tokens for gear without having weekly lock-outs on every dungeon. Low drop rates are lame btw. Even worse than capped currencies.


The rest is opinions about the content and I won't get into it because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'll just say that personally, I am hyped for the beauty of the content to come. Yeah it will be farmed after a while and become a boring grind eventually. But that happens to anything really. I can't think of any grind in any game (even solo player games) that wasn't boring after a while. That's what a grind is. So if we don't factor in the future grind and boredom, yeah the patch to come looks awesome and I feel totally hyped for it.


But again, opinions.

I wonder if you say the same thing again when the next patch is the exact same formula and re-hash again. I just can't believe people are happy with the same carrot stick that they have been chasing for the last a year and a half.

There is a point where you can use the same thing over and over again until it become absolutely tedious and boring that you don't want to log in anymore to do it. Are they expecting this trend will go on and last them forever? I highly doubt it, at a point people will catch on and say "Hey, this is the same thing I have been doing just different color shade of colors that blind me."

Thing is, we are already debating over this subject on other threads. I, too, am against a constant rehash of stuff and was disappointed by HW on this regard (loads of other great stuff so I still enjoy the game a lot, but enjoying doesn't mean that I can't see its defects).

Buuuuut, yeah, this and that are different subjects. While I do not appreciate the constant "same core with a different attire", I also don't expect SE to change it on a minor patch. That's called being a pragmatist. Complaining about stuff that cannot change (right now) is just wasted energy and only brings forward negative feelings. You'll end up not liking anything in the game because you won't be able to see the good points it has, only focusing on te bad points.

voltron is a super robot saving the earth yo.

It's the predecessor of all the megazords and other stuff like that coming after it :)

Without going into further details, this is very disappointing.
They totally lost the vision and the inspiration to produce something different and unique, this game turned into a repetitive pattern of recycled content, with just different textures and some new 3d environments.
Its stunning to see people hyped for these things when its exactly the same content you have been running for months, over and over. Its a pattern.. how can you be satisfied with something like this, especially when you pay a subscription?

There are games for free that have this kind of pattern and would keep you busy for life if thats what you aim for.

It is just depressing how they totally ruined a Final Fantasy title, flooring the fun and flattening every ideas.

Don't most MMOs do this already though? At the meat of every and all content, it's either go here and kill this, or collect a bunch of this for that. The only "color" is where and how you do it. It isn't just FFXIV that does it, it's practically everywhere. No matter what, your grinding for something and there is (or was) some type of limitation stopping your progression for either a day or a week. People have been chasing that carrot stick long before FFXIV I think.
