...What? No, because if someone starts demanding illegal third-party software in party finder or ingame chat, they'll be banned.
There are legitimate concerns with this software. Insane slippery slopes are not one of them.

I can tell most of the people in this thread are either console players or this is their first PC MMORPG.
If this game had an API there would be addons (and this would be a good thing, being able to tailor your hud exactly how you want it) then this FFXIV APP thing wouldn't be the only one around. Has anyone here even played any MMORPG with player-made addons? Just look at Curse, it is a huge addon database.
The amount of straight-faced serious butthurt going on in this thread over what is essentially a normal harmless add-on is just...shameful. No one goes on Wildstar and cries with real tears over how add-ons are cheats, seriously guys.
Also, I'm sure that if this game wasn't developed with the console in mind we'd have add-on support. But, as it is, us PC players have to deal with the fact this game will be forever limited by the console version. Sad really.
An add-on that lets you change your gear color isn't a cheat, especially if you're the only one who sees it.
An add-on that gives you a gigantic tactical advantage to finding an elite NM with a 3.5 to 5-hour spawn window (by literally showing you where it is at exactly the time it spawns) is a cheat... UNLESS the add-on also delivered the same information to every other player.
I'm not butthurt over other people using add-ons... just pointing out that you can't honestly say it's not cheating.
More power to 'em, though. It's pretty easy to assume which hunters are being helped by add-ons, and it's nearly as easy to follow them to their marks.
there is a huge difference , im a pc player ,and i use addons in eveyother mmorpg, but in FFXIV is ALL or NONE , why? because its unfair plain and simple.
now if SE says is ok to use the radar, or hell implement a radar in the default ui np until that happens the radar is going to be considered a cheat.
Why do cheaters try to justify their behavior? Cheating is cheating. You can go to any zone and see random people standing the in middle of nowhere waiting for hunt to show up on their radar hack.
I want to know where the devs are at and why they aren't talking about this?
Are you actually asking why knowing what you're talking about matters? Is this really what you're asking me? It's fine to care, but if you cared then you should at least have the most basic understanding. Who would want to respond to unreasonable people who are making things up?
Most people are asking for things that can't be done in response to problems that don't exist and they want those two impossible things in a time frame of instantly. You guys need to be able to draw a distinction between when your opinion is being criticized and when your behavior is being criticized.
