Rather than being advanced versions of classes, we would like players to think of jobs as specialized playing styles optimized for partying.
i didnt see anyone mention that the new jobs might only be held to either DOM or DOW, or even able to equip said classes on a few but not all of DOW. they might not be all around universal, but they might not be held down to that one class too.
THM can solo tank certain things, but not everything. Lnc can't tank anything (tried and it doesn't work) Archer can't tank anything. Con can't tank anything. Pug tanks very well (probably better than GLA) MRD is a tank on lower level things, but not NMs. Problem? I understand that there are going to be Jobs that come out, but an Archer (non-tank) should not be allowed to move to a Paladin (tank job). It makes absolutely 0 sense.
I feel like we're running in circles but I have to ask. So if weapon doesn't matter why again does it... matter that anyone can use whatever weapon? Also the reasoning of "If it doesn't matter then why not?" is not a valid one as it runs counter to the class system that the job system itself is based on.
Also please, please stop using "past FFs" as a reasoning for why it would work in THIS FF. This game is not a previous game. We may learn from previous games but a one to one comparison makes no sense.
this is correct, it most definately will not be any discipline, simply because the mere use of a job is going to limit what skills you can use supposedly.
If say Monk doesnt let you use magic spells, then how would it make sense to have a monk conjuerer.
The best you can hope for is having a couple different choices per job, but even that may be more than they are willing to give. Dont worry though, you can still just not use a job, and take whatever you can from anwhere and play as you like. You just wont have a specific bonus/minus.
playing styles optimized for partying. This is talking about the Jobs, not the freaking weapon classes. If he says "Paladin is a tank playstyle" this does not mean that you take your fkn GLA skills, stick them on LNC and BAM you are a paladin. You might have the "play style" but you won't be a tank. You are looking at the letter from a completely incorrect direction. "playing styles" has nothing to do with your CLASSES, it deals with JOBS. Paladin is a tank play style, black mage is a nuke play style, white mage is a healing play style. LANCER, a CLASS, does not have a PLAY STYLE, but it can't tank and it can't effectively heal. All it is good for is DD. I don't know why you can't get that through your thick skull.
I don't mind if some class can use some jobs if that make sense to the role like Ranger can be a samurai but it be a ranger samurai, Polearm can be samurai but it be a polearm type samurai.
when it come down to monk only hand to hand really make sense they really not staff that make sense for monk to use as a wep for hitting not if they make some lol.
