As a healer, is it my job to DPS? A new perspective.

but Im not fighting im just making my opinions. I didnt come here to fight it was to say I think cleric sucks because blah blah blah. and I would prefer it not to be forced. Just give a better way to fill my time. rather than a stress charged one. Just have a preference for quality of enjoyment factor

I'm not making light whatsoever, and I do agree with not forcing someone to do anything they're uncomfortable with, but I have to say: if it does feel stress charged, that's not something I want to do. That's why if the group is bad, I leave. I don't feel any obligation to press forward when it feels unbearable. I have a pretty good judgment of what's my fault versus what isn't.

Once I was in a Weeping City run on my alt where one dps was blaming the other healer and I for everything. They were low health due to being under geared and eating mechanics they shouldn't have been, but persisted in saying it was our fault. When we wiped again they tried to vote kick, it failed to go through, then a vote kick was initiated on them and it did go through. Our replacement dps did mechanics and lo and behold, we got past Ozma. But I was on the verge of leaving.

Honestly a 30 min penalty isn't a bad thing. Time to get up and walk away from a source of stress.

Hmm, sounds like a combination of low gear and poor cooldown management. He likely tried cheesing mechanics by dropping tank stance. I also call into question what exactly your co-healer was doing. Scholar should provide support healing, not be the designated main healer. WHM/AST have much better pure healing capabilities whereas SCH mitigates. Even at ilvl 250, that shouldn't have been as much of an issue. If this is the group that blamed you, they're bad. It has nothing to do with the DPS meta or community expectations. So I don't get why you've spent so much time fighting against them.

Our scholar starts out partially healing each fight then as we all learn and get better at mechanics and cooldown use, they add more and more dps. For our A11S clear video when I watched it later I noticed they were in CS for almost the entire fight. And they definitely drop out of CS for perfectly timed Indoms and deployed crit adlo. Even our main healer has time to add dots. And the fairy on Obey is being placed and managed to help with that.

Im ast main heal now and this tank is very good much easier to heal than the other one. Still though with regens I cant take my eyes away and when I do to put aspected on everyone after acid rain or ot on faust i still got to go rignt back to healing him quick. Am I missing something?

I'm the off tank, so I'd need to pay more attention to what our main healer and main tank do. I think the Refurbisher does auto attack for a decent chunk of damage. And the main healer pretty much solo heals that fight so I do think you just keep the tank topped off, keep up regen, and party heals as needed.

We just went in last night for the last time and our off healer went MNK for a change of pace. So our AST really does solo heal it lol.

Not really co healer was ast. We were casual then group decided to get more serious therefore wanted me to dps and be OH. Did say id try but cos we were learng a10s just didnt dare lol anyway was wipe fest I just hadnt got a clue how to dps heal a raid I started to practice in normal etc but even so Im not sure if id been able to get space in that group anyway. Part of the problem as stated before when you start this game and want to be healer no one says sch isnt healer so believe it or not didnt really think I had to dps I played before bismark era. It wasnt so demanded then. Co healer was doing gnerators and healing group and dpsing and cards. We didnt follow meta was just very casual on a10s though tanks just called out for one or both of us to be kicked . I was kicked because I wasnt dpsing and Im a sch. Wasnt given chance to learn it either. Was a combination of blame and not knowing. Wrong because people need to be given chance to learn. They may not even know how to stance dance, may find it stressful, or think they shouldnt have to, or refuse on principal because they chose healing class, or may be learning fight.

yep my co healer sch dpses pretty much all of it so yeah think im solo healing . Even if fairy doing some aswell been told not to top up so much , to give fairy something to do lol

Nah 1 mil is about normal for an i250 group with no healer dps.

Over 8 minutes it's about 2k DTPS for the MT. The pet can cover about 950 HPS at i250 (with Rouse used) with AST regen at about 700 HPS. So only about 350 DTPS needs to be covered for the rest which is mostly just the heavy cleaves.

Given a tank with 30k HPS you just need to keep him above half health. So at a loss of 350 HPS you have a 40 second window in which to swap from Clerics to cast some heals. With an ideal system is to keep up Aspected Benfefic (18s) while rotating Benefic and Essential Dignity.

So to play it safe. Aspected Benefic -> DPS for 18s -> Aspected Benefic + Essential Dignity -> DPS for 18s -> Essential Dignity + Benefic -> DPS for 18s (fill in Aspected Helios where required etc)

Please note that Combust is 18s and Combust II is 40s

This is in tank dps stance with no other way to take extra damage. So not sure what else to say. Doesn't sound like a tank issue?

I think I recall tank dropping from full heath to almost zero in two consecutive swipes. I was scholar main heal. But we were learning fight as well at the time, I think its alot different doing it now when everyone knows the fight. All I know is that if I poped cleric tank would have most certainly died, I had to pop adlo just to be able to allow for pausing to move. Phase before faust drops is a gap but then was casting succor before aoe hit. You can analize it all on paper I guess but actually doing it is different. Asts regens wouldnt have kept him alive anyway. Not saying that isnt correct that you can do it, potentially. All I saw was tank losing health continuosly. Ok looking at parser embrace did 186.8k I did 2.298k hps 33% overheal. I healed 1.06 milion altogether. 98.58% active. This put me in the 96th percentile for healing as scholar. I took the least damage out of the entire group at 2% and Im a crap terrible healer, cos I got 33% overheal and should have been dpsing.Ast was 40% on damage did 283 damage, 720k healing 45% overheal, but Im the one that was kicked simply because I wasnt dpsing. Maybe you can see whats wrong with that. I can, but fair enough they wanted a dps healer, doent change the fact I was kicked for not dpsing though.

If your tank would take a OS, there's a mitgation problem with the tank, not entirely with you, even if you contributes with things such adlo, eye for and eye, virus
