Well, I'm d/ling the patch now with CloudFlare Warp so should be able to tell you soon.
Got the patch just fine just now, so go ahead and go for it, you prolly don't need cloudflare warp right now but I thought I'd get used to using it. I'm watching this thread to find out when I can uninstall that though.
And before anyone asks, I've tangled with AT&T tech support before and have no desire to do that again at the present time since it's just FFXIV. I'd make the brother who DOESN'T play FFXIV pretty mad b/c he works from home. Said brother has a temper worse than Alisae so yeah, I don't want to call them right now tho I'm watching this.
Welp I got "unable to download patch files." While using Cloudflare Warp. Guess I won't be able to play at all for a long time.
Ahaha I did and it ran!!! Thank you guys
Welp doesn't look like they fixed this problem during down time. Pings are going up already...

Definitely starting to bounce around quite a bit. Still staying between ~55-61ms of ping and no packet loss just yet on my end, but we'll see. This is right around when it usually starts happening for me.
Edit: Annnnnnnd there we go. 11:43am EST, ping has shot up to 100ms+ and stayed there. Gonna keep collecting more data before posting a screenshot. Problem isn't resolved, clearly.
Edit the Second: Maybe spoke too soon? Stayed high for a few minutes and now back down to roughly 55-70. Stepping away for a bit for lunch, so we'll see what things look like when I'm back.
What I've noticed is that it seems to be okay earlier in the day and gets worse later. I've had to use a VPN since Tuesday just to make the game playable.
Can we just rip out San Jose already?! Also looks like some of my VPN connections have gotten worse/are they trying to improperly load balance instead of fix?!
It's a pretty solid pattern (for most folks, at least). Krojack has some graphs posted showing the behavior. Things tend to be fine until 11:15-30ish EST, then ping jumps high and stays high, along with packet loss, until well into the early morning hours (2am-ish I think? Again, EST).
I'm back from lunch now and aside from the huge spike I mentioned in my previous post, things have been at least somewhat "stable". Ping is bouncing around quite a bit (55ms to 80ms range, mostly), but has yet to jump up into 100ms+ and stay there. No packet loss or anything (yet). Ping is definitely varying quite a bit right now, but if I'm remembering correctly it usually would be borked already by now.

I still haven't, still have to use Cloudflare Warp to get a decent connection but it may be the server we're connecting to and some of us may have to wait until it resets. Give it a few days and for now guys, I'd keep whatever solution you have close at hand.
It's still on track to be the normal garbage lag. Packet loss will start somewhere between 1pm and 2pm EST.

Yep, just finished a meeting and came to check. I'm not surprised, but I'll definitely admit to having had the smallest hint of copium this morning.
Warp gaming it is, I guess.

I'm sitting here running 10 minute pingplots of random PIA connections (already pay for it). Some of the older ones not as good anymore (Michigan and Iowa). Currently US Salt Lake City is the first one to average 62ms with no PL (US West Streaming was getting under 55 but very intermittent PL)

I originally joined this post on page 31, been lurking since. I decided to try logging in despite the obvious issue displayed above. I was immediately greeted by the "Poor" connection indication. I re-subscribed to FFXIV in March 2022 and have always enjoyed an, "excellent" connection. (If not, a quick clean up shut down of my modem/router would resolve the issue) Last week that changed for me and many others. I think more will join our ranks this evening when the masses return to "their" game and realize something is horribly wrong at NTT.net.

As grim as the situation is, I look forward to more players returning and joining our ranks this week, as well.
We must keep our heels on their skulls with these reports and testimonies. The time is now to dig those heels in.
I just had a convo in game with a guy who mentioned Cloudflare Warp might be a DNS thing. That gave me a idea.
Once I finish the pre-Momocon cleaning (Don't shoot me. I don't want to come home to a dirty house after the con), I'll try this on my ps4 for testing but..has anyone tried changing the DNS server to Google's or something like that in settings? See if that helps at all so maybe you don't have to get a vpn? If that works, maybe me and my brother can play together until this fixes itself.
(Don't laugh about this either; but the reason my brother went for FFXIV was I installed the ps4 version on his ps5; he had to buy his own code though. He just saw that and got curious, and the rest is history.and a lot of crafting on my part since I have been spoiling him rotten)
That is why I posted and admire your fortitude. My cynical 62 year-old self believes they've heard us and done nothing. I am not hopeful that will change. BUT, I will hang around, participate, and see what happens before cancelling my sub. If this issue is still lurking around end next week, I'll likely be singing a different tune.
I'm giving Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 warp thingamajig a try right now. I'm going to run a few roulettes and see how it goes. I'll report back after I've given it enough time to form an opinion.
Cloudflare's WARP isn't a DNS thing. The confusion comes from their website, http://1.1.1.1, shares the same address as their DNS provider that they _also_ offer. It also doesn't help that WARP _also_ configures this DNS provider for you.
But no, Cloudflare's WARP actually tunnels traffic through their endpoints. Changing DNS only isn't enough as it'll still try to make the same hops.
Rats, thanks Binary and n_n. Hopefully there IS a easy solution for consoles then that doesn't cost money. And also is not from some questionable place.
My hope is they'll finally stop this after Momocon but we'll see.
i’ve seen if you have a laptop/pc you can set up a bridge from your router to your laptop/pc and use an ethernet from laptop/pc to console and set the console to LAN connection and use a VPN on your laptop/pcs connection and have that VPN on your console
that said i have not been able to get it to work and i don’t know if it’s an error on my end doing it wrong or if it’s ATT not allowing it
Though I haven't tried it on PS5 or PS4, I'd imagine it's a case of the latter, and that AT&T's gateways probably don't allow such a thing.
It's probably for security reasons, but that's speculation on my part. As for today, my VPN connection held steady through the entire 6.4 MSQ, both the dungeon and trial were cleared without a hitch on my end.
I'm out to lunch right now, but I'll be back later to give the Anabaseios normal raids a go. Keep the reports coming.
This isn't even considered an "issue" in the 6.4 issues list... oh really...?
If I didn't accidentally pay for VPN service again I would've cancelled my subscription already until this cleared up.
Can't believe I'm able to get under 5ms for WoW but have to fight for 50ms here. Can we enter 2023 already?
Patch downloaded and loading into the game. I've been not wanting to use a vpn or anything out of spite (because a game I pay a monthly sub to should work, yaknow?) but if patch stuff goes too poorly for me I may have to give in. : pepehands :
Stupid lag log day 9. I was able to download patch about 3pm CST with no issues. Playing game is ridiculous with packet loss. I shall continue to report my trace logs twice a day and bug the heck out of customer non support.
Been trying the proton vpn, so far it has worked and been able to do most group things well. Alliance raids and pvp been little laggy. I have cloudflare downloaded and ready to try if need be. In case others thinking about trying.
Shall keep posting here to help keep thread at top till they get this mess fixed.
It's true that 1.1.1.1 fixed it for me but good God this is dumb. Hopefully this is fixed within another week but hopes not held high here.
We'll see legacii. Anyway that helped me too tho I haven't really strained it yet (getting ready for Momocon) so I proly won't be doing more than island for another week. I'm just hoping that it'll be fixed by next week, after momocon.
I know brother won't want to play on my pc really; Go in his sister's bedroom = no bueno especially when there's no rush and hopefully AT&T and NTT will quit shooting at each other, so to speak.
Your optimism is admirable but as someone stated earlier, this is a pissing contest between two huge internet companies. There is nothing SE can do, and tangentially nothing WE can do, except either use a VPN or vote with our wallets.
This isn't an anime or JRPG where fighting spirit and the power of friendship can win the day. This is late-stage capitalism at its finest.
Got a week left of sub. It would be a very sad way to say goodbye to this game but I don't see this being resolved soon if ever.
Hey all, first time posting on the Lodestone lol. I know this is not new information but I feel I need to add my voice to the fire.
Me and my Fiancé have been dealing with the packet loss issues as well since around May 15th, 2023. Making the game unplayable. We have submitted multiple tickets via the form mentioned on the last couple post by Square on socials and also submitted bug reports as well in-game.
This morning I decided to run Pingplotter and the tracert command to see if after the 6.4 patch today would've fixed the issue.
The only issue I saw from Pingplotter was that ONLY ae-1.r24.snjsca04.us.bb.gin.ntt.net [129.250.5.17] was dropping nearly 100% packets. Otherwise it wasn't indicating we weren't losing packets. So I was sniffing that hopium throughout the workday.
Now with it being peak hours as of this post, we are consistently getting packet loss. This is across the board on all NTT nodes starting at the one mentioned above. In game there is massive delay between actions and players characters are stop and go. Completely unplayable. Below are my latest tracert results. Hopefully this helps.

Without having to read through all 600 posts lol does anyone know which nodes will work for someone in Midwest USA to solve the issue using Surfshark?
I can't speak for Surfshark, but what worked for my VPN was a bit of trial and error. Essentially, I just ran ping and traceroute commands on each one, and saw what worked and what didn't from where I am in Texas. I noted each one respectively as a "use" or a "pass" once tests concluded.
What constitutes "what worked" is dependent on node and location, so long as the NTT problem nodes in Sacramento (documented countless in this thread) are avoided.
I really wish there was a simple, free work around for this issue on console... I just let my sub expire earlier this week because the game has been nearly unplayable for me, and I won't re-sub until it's fixed (if it ever is). Sucks to have this happen right before a big patch, was really looking forward to running a new dungeon and going through the new story content.
For me, the lag is still there, but at the moment, it has gotten a little bit better, but I'm keeping a close eye on it for a few days before doing more. Still playing on PS5.
It's patch day. . . . . and the lag persists. . . . AT&T had the audacity to send me a text saying that my issue was fixed. It is clearly not.
