The Aftermath: EU player on NA server , what's your ping now?
If you are a EU player and plays on a NA server. How did your ping change? What are the numbers?
As a NA player, why am I now getting higher ping playing on NA data centers than EU?
Why would the servers be moved to California and not a central US location to benefit everyone? The fact that the new data center location is WORSE for me in my own region than playing in a different region is honestly pretty stupid and a decision clearly made without any real thought.
For reference on a data center relocation done right, look at Riot's League of Legends server move. It might have given the West Coast slightly higher ping, but it benefited EVERYONE in the US. XIV's relocation screws everyone in the North US and East Coast.
I'm going to sound selfish here, but I don't care about complaints from EU players. They CHOSE to play outside of their region even though they have their own data center. NA data center should be about what is convenient for NA players, not EU players. You have your own data center for a reason.
I am a NA player who chose to play within my region. I am now being screwed for doing so. Now, playing on the NA region data center my ping is worse in MY OWN REGION than elsewhere.
Why?
According to this post on Lodestone: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...2360440abe9651
With the release of Stormblood, there will be new worlds on the EU data center that will open up and transfer will be free. Does this apply to the entire North and East Coast of the US you just collectively screwed with the data center relocation? It's sad when I get a better connection to a different region than my own.
so yeah whole thing was pointless and we got triple ping 10/10 (100ms unplayable)

This change did nothing but make it harder to ogcd rotations for people. All this lag still exists and I quote another friend:
if you live on east coast
it's significantly worse
like it's next to impossible for me to double weave for my SMN opener
(When someone can't double weave because of 100 ms it is unplayable from an fully optimization point of view.)

While those who play FINAL FANTASY XIV closer to the new data center will see their ping time fall, those who are now further away from the servers may see those times increase.
FINAL FANTASY XIV was designed to be played in an environment featuring ping times of 200 – 220 milliseconds or less. Even if players experience an increase in ping times due to the data center relocation, as long as their times remain below 200 ms, then they may rest easy, for there should be no discernable difference in gameplay.
This is simply false, you cannot fully optimize DPS rotations on 100 ping. Furthermore, I am still getting the heal someone with Lustrate but they die lag, and use an atherflow stack. The delay from being able to use ogcd from a ocd is too high on 100 ms.
Quotes of others:
"15ms wont change the fact that Hallowed Ground takes 2 secs to activate or that murdas will still give you rabbits XD"
"But at 90 ping, the game is literally unplayable, how am I supposed to double weave my Ogcds!?"
"Benediction is simply too slow, I was hoping they would fix the on purpose delays so people can transition to the changes easier. With upgraded servers, there should be no reason why hitting bane is so delayed now and it still does not transfer bio even with the newfound lag at 100 ms"
"I shouldn't have to wait to use sidewinder after my dots"
"100 ms alone might work for most games, but it does not work for this one when you have delays to try to attempt to appear to be playable at 200 ms. Maybe it is playable at 200 ms but it is done with sub par performance."
"Why am I hitting abilities that never trigger just because I hit something else? There is too much delay. I play other games with higher delays just fine, I played ffxi in japan just fine."
"If these are better servers how come I have large queues upon log in?"
"100 ms is too high for those that want to fully optimize. It also makes PvP unplayable, I am sure people will be able melee lb me now with out even being in visual range. 100 ms would be fine if the game was properly coded"
"If you are going to change locations like this and have a large impact on a large amount of people, free transfers should be offered. This is not fair from a business standpoint. Some people are considering pulling the preoder for SB and cancel sub to to this change was not handled with care"
I hope you have big changes for SB to allow DPS to get the most out of DPS rotations out of high ping because the current state is not possible and you lowered the amount of people able to do so.
In short the game is simply worse with the move for more people then it helped.
