O.o wow. talk about passive-aggressive SMN. Needling the tank, then falling back on insulting them while trying to make it look like the tank is doing it himself.
Honestly, if the tank is out of TP, just... wait a while, and your cooldowns necessary to kick Dreadwyrm are likely to be ready again for when the tank has full TP, or at least not too far into the boss fight itself.
(Note: While I have SMN at 60, I don't play it, so all I'm going on is what comments our resident FC SMN have made, and I'm assuming it's vaguely similar to BLM Enochian -- have Aetherflow stacks, use a certain cooldown, get Dreadwyrm, use things available during that to keep it from falling off for as long as possible. If it's more complicated than that, then I apologize to whichever SMN I might have offended with my assumption.)
If I remain out of combat for 15 seconds, my DPS is halved...
...What? Why? How? is it because he's parsing and he has it set to 30 seconds, and doesn't understand that it's grouping the two encounters together? Nothing about Summoner says that it matters how long you're out of combat. Even Aethertrails / Bahamut trance is a small boost in DPS. It's worthwhile to maintain/use in combat but it's not worthwhile to pull over the tank.
Is this summoner an idiot?
Alexander normal is no longer fun.
A4 3 times in a row I get a group that can't either get balls, kill adds, tanks can't pop defensive cds, dodge stuff, get tethers AND LIST GOES ON.
A lot of players now did not go through the whole gears progressions. Back then in order to make up for the lack of top tier gear, players tried the hardest to dodge everything or squeeze out just a bit more dps or heal on every fight, unlike now, good gears =/= good player
Considering there is that annoying cap, you can't spam them forever.
Eso that is.
Ah I see...well if I get stuff like void ark gear for example..it's for alt classes/glamour if I like the item lol
TFW the tank and dps don't dodge anything on the last two bosses of Fractal (seriously, the MNK literally hit every mine on the last boss...) but you still manage to keep them alive, but you ain't get no commendations...

Hey guys, I'm going to totally combo break this thread and post about the GOOD dungeons I had today!
Doing Diadem, I already got Pegasus so I'm now doing it once a day to stock up on tokens for the V Materia. As well as, you know, getting any of that sweet, sweet 210 with crazy stats that drop.
So I get a party, say hello to everyone. We go to collect our currents and it goes very smoothly. We get up in the air and head to Dino Island. We get credit on literally every mob that we encounter (that's a first for me, personally). I'm rolling 70+ on everything, my inventory is filling up fast. We kill our first Star.
i210 healer pants. Vit, mind, crit, spell speed, and det. I roll a 94. Dear god yes. The glorious pants are mine.
The farm is smooth, the people are friendly. We die sometimes, but it's okay. My co-healer is amazing, our tank is amazing, our casters are amazing. Everything is amazing.
At 10 minutes left on the clock, the tank and one of the melee want to do the objectives for their achievement. So we all stack on the tank and mass suicide to our spawn. Finish off the objectives in less than 3 minutes and head back to Dino Island and collect more loot before the timer hits 0.
Everyone says good bye and good luck and that everything was amazing. I couldn't agree more.

Boyfriend and I were doing Expert (as we do everyday), he pulls big and I heal big. The DPS had their heads spinning, watching us pull as big as we could on dungeons that are less than a week old.
But despite our insanity, they AoE good. The Bard is working his little butt off switching between Foe's for my Aero III, Holy spam, and Assize combo, and MP/TP song for my boyfriend/myself and himself/the monk, respectively, between trash pulls.
The dungeon goes smooth, no wipes, DPS is on point and even killing adds is going well (except when I got a little cheeky and stood a little bit too close to that diving kobold boss that stuns. I had to bene myself, LOL).
Dungeon ends, I thank the DPS for the amazing run, especially the Bard who got my commendation for his extraordinary effort. My boyfriend commended the Monk to make sure everyone got at least one.
---
And here is where we end the cycle of awesomeness
Queue up for High Level roulette with my boyfriend. He's leveling Ninja at the moment and I am leveling Monk. We get Snowcloak.
Tank is new. Healer is new. Ohboy.
Tank is full slaying, every once in a while they seem to dip really low or flat out die, but my boyfriend and I are burning through trash so quickly we don't really notice or pause to consider why. Healer doesn't seem to be raising them except out of combat with slow cast, pretty unusual, but we don't really look into it. We just wanna smack things.
We get to the 2nd boss and my boyfriend explains the mechanics, it's a little rocky at first, but it goes down quicker and smoother than it did the first day Snowcloak came out (20 minute Yeti fights, anyone remember those? XD).
Tank gets really excited when we get to the last two trash packs. Pulls all 3 dragons and the 2 transformation guys. Too much to handle and they transform. 5 dragons AoEing, erryone ded. Tank apologizes and pulls them separately, we get to the final boss.
Boyfriend once again explains the mechanics. We start the fight.
I'm a little cheeky with my positionals and decide to eat a couple of AoEs to the face. I see the healer is casting on me as more come out, know I can eat one more so I do after the heal comes out, since an i110 Cure II is about 1000ish (maybe a little less, but I only needed about 500 HP to live) and I know that'll be more than enough for me.
HE HEALED ME FOR LESS THAN 300 WITH A CURE II IN SNOWCLOAK.
I died.
I check this guy's gear. i90 and i110 left side, well, that's kind of weak, but his right side is all Poetics.
THIS
HEALER
IS
WEARING
FULL
CASTING
ACCESSORIES
Check his search info. 50 WHM, 15 ACN. No Swiftcast. No raise for me. This literally explains everything in the dungeon we were too lazy to acknowledge earlier.
Without my help DPSing, the boss is dying slow. Healer can't keep up as the fight drags on 2-3 minutes and the tank dies. Healer starts casting slow raise, my boyfriend dies from lack of heals while tanking. The healer and tank take 10 minutes to solo the boss.
Healer demands commendations for "healing so amazingly". Boyfriend throughly chews out healer for not wearing proper gear and I just left as soon as the fight was over. I didn't even want the crafting loot after that.
I was in Copperbell (Hard) today. When a bomb self-destructs itself, the dragoon in my party can't dodge it and he died.
I'm back again. Got Stone Vigil NM for my leveling roulette on my healer (lvl 54). First pull, I'm waiting to cast a cure so I can gauge how healing this tank will be and if I can cleric. Gets hit for 200 its, no big I'm not gonna cast a cure for that. Then all of a sudden he drops 1000+ pts on a 2300 HP gauge, dropping him down to 700 HP. I immediately cast Cure 2 and he dies before I get the cast off. 10 seconds into the pull. No one else dies and he comes back and it's fine. Check class, it's his first tank and GLD is only lvl 15. Check his gear, all jewelry but an earring is lvl 29 STR...
Next pull is fine. Still squishy but more manageable. Get to the first aevis room and he pulls the whole damn thing. No cool downs. I heal as fast as I can, but of course he died. I usually don't have any issues with this room, even if an aevis is pulled, but there is literally nothing I could've done with that situation.
He wtfs and a DPS leaves and I tell the tank that he is literally taking everything to the face and I can't heal him fast enough. He lols me and tells me to l2p... The tank that doesn't use cool downs or have appropriate gear is telling me to l2p. Yea, I left that crap. Thank you random DPS for taking that hit.
Think I'll add mine after having one today in Saint Mocianne's Arboretum in the EX Roulette. It's two people. One a Warrior, the other a Black Mage both in around ilvl180 - 200 gear.
First problem we've seen is that the Warrior cant hold aggro well. I was on a Bard and popped down my AoE fire. I got aggro instantly after the tank had already started hitting the mobs so there was no use of an overpower. We noticed that the mobs were dying really slowly, even with Foes Requiem Up.
This then caused the other issue of the Black Mage. There was no use of Ley Lines, Enochain, Fire 4 or Blizzard 4. Just your standard of Fire, Fire Fire, Blizzard, Fire, Fire, Fire. As you can expect DPS was stupidly low. So me being the Bard, was popping Foes on every pull so the healer could help out who was getting increasingly frustrated.
First boss tank calls out the healer for being rude as they didn't have Stoneskin on. Boss fight took around 3 or so minutes, maybe longer due to the low DPS again.
We make our way through the dungeon and get to the honey section. The wall before the boss is where myself and the healer go enraged. The Black Mage was still doing awful, there was no AoE's with just the odd flare now and again. He somehow learned what Ley Lines was, but then promptly forgot it.
I'm playing Foes my MP getting lower and lower with all the adds spawning as the other two were attacking the 'wrong' mobs. We got through it but the tank had pretty much hit less than 1k HP multiple times. Tank then decides to call me a shitty bard for not playing the TP song. Well I'm sorry but I had Foes up trying to help the mobs die quicker. Not my problem this time you decided to spam overpower. Healer calls out the tank for doing a shit job and the tank was going on about how good they were as they used 'cooldowns'.
So we get to the 2nd boss, everyone in the group is annoyed, apart from the Black Mage who never spoke. Healer called both of them out with the BLM getting most of it for doing poor damage. BLM then promptly died, ressed and left the group. Tank then threatened us that when we wipe, they'd leave too. We weren't bothered as the healer did a good job at keeping the rest of us and we killed the boss with just three of us. Warrior then left without saying a word.
We wait and another Black Mage comes in the group. We groan and the tank arrives. Much to our surprise, this BLM and Tank knew what they were doing. The BLM was in 170 gear and already doing far my DPS then the previous one and we finished the instance in no time at all.
Probably the worst run I've had in a long long while within this game.
Lately I've been noticing a trend in healers pulling on behalf of the tank. It doesn't matter if the run is going swiftly and smoothly, they just facepull and then run around like a headless chicken while getting punched in the face.
Now this didn't happen to me, but it did happen to a fellow in one of the linkshells I am in. They were in Diadem, having used the Duty Finder, and there was one guy who goes in (barely making the ilvl requirement mind you) and instantly switches from DPS to gather class. That, in itself, isn't necessarily bad (bad form, maybe), but they wouldn't help with any objectives and took all of the loot. An item dropped that my linkshell fellow was hoping to get, but the lazy one got it instead saying "Sorry bruh need mah pony".
I've seen that exactly once, it was a warrior in Thordan Story Mode, demanding commendations via autotranslate using a macro, even with sound effect. My friend and I actually wanted to commend him because he played very well, but after we've seen this macro we couldn't stop laughing, we were like "OMG what a clown" and then commended the healers - no commendations for beggars, no matter how well they play
I used the Duty Finder to enter a Guildhest. I thought I'd do something fun for a change and make macros of myself having a conversation with my weapon, Dr. Tran style. The /emote was my weapon talking, and /say was me, with /wait 3s in between. I would play these macros at the beginning, middle, and end of a duty. I made the mistake of using one where the axe supposedly called me a god, and I said something along the lines of, "Shh, don't say that, they'll laugh." Wrong wording at the time. I charged, gung-ho, into a morbol during this Guildhest, and it wasn't until I engaged the Morbol that I realized...
I've never tanked this duty before, and I didn't read the instructions. What do I do?
Suddenly, slimes start appearing, and I didn't know whether to break them or pull the morbol away from them. Because of my blunder, we wiped, and I was immediately met with mockery by our Ninja. It seemed he took my emote/say macro a little too seriously.
I'm more offended by the fact that I screwed up a Guildhest by not knowing it, than having to deal with that humorless person. Ever since that horrible Guildhest, I spammed Guildhests as a tank, over, and over, and over again until I was numb to them. I also learned that some people take this game so seriously, and have no sense of humor, so I axed the whole tidbit of having a fun back-and-forth in /say and /emote.
The funny thing is, I think they were actually getting more INT from their i130 accessories than they were MND from their i90+i110 armor (not including weapon). I'm pretty sure they would have been healing better with Cleric Stance on.
And don't worry, the only commendation that healer got was (maybe) the tank's. He definitely didn't get mine nor my boyfriend's.
There was someone on the forums who was bragging about being a DRG with 800 commendations. People were kinda like, "Lots of people who main DPS have more commendations than that. And after seeing this brag post, I won't be giving you one of mine if we happen to meet." Commendation begging is really frowned upon. Unless someone says they're 1-2 away from one of the commendation rewards, then I'll throw them a pity comcom unless they were horrific.
My boyfriend and I like to turn commendations into a competition. XD When we do High Level Roulette and Expert Roulette we both avoid saying anything (unless something really funny happens) and see who the DPS like based on skill. Whoever gets the most commendations wins. As the tank, he usually gets them every single time. Though, with my 4,000 commendations to his 1,900... I think I'm winning in the long run, LOL.
Yeah, I'm not going to say how many commendations I have other than that it's a low number. But I once got 5 commendations after I shut down a healer in Bismarck HM who was really nasty right from the get go. Told him straight up he was abusive after we wiped (and he blamed everyone but us, calling us noobs etc), then proceeded to vote kick him. new healer joins, he's a lovely fella, we all beat the content no problems (no more wipes), and I end up with 5 commendations. My jaw literally dropped when I saw that.
And I'd not asked for any commendations from that run either. They commended me because I had the balls to shut down an abusive person I guess?
One reason could very well be because on certain search engines there's some old reddit posts with very misinformed (and or outdated info) people that were giving out bad information such as you get better nukes which would all be true... if only cleric stance didn't exist. Other reddit posts also claimed int increased fairy healing.
Just one example.

Even though if lustrate was still % based, Mind would still be preferable over int, I tried Int over Mind, it was stupid. Cleric stance makes your DPS more potent as a scholar than going full int anyways.
Yesterday ran Brayflox normal with a 32 GLD (not PLD), who didn't have Shield Lob (the level 15 class quest). That went about as well as you might expect.
Was trying to give some advice, but another player was less tolerant so that didn't last long.
Rolled out Titan EX for the first time after watching MTQ and Mr. Happy guides on repeat until I had enough working knowledge of the fight to feel confident I could handle it. Fight starts with the tank complaining how bad his prior groups were and he's been trying this fight for ages. He proceeds to ask if anyone's new, and when a couple others beside myself say they are, he doesn't explain anything but just queues a ready check and pulls. Everyone spreads out right from the word go, which made dodging plumes damn near impossible. Wipe one.
I end up explaining the need to stack up and the mechanics as best I can. Tank grumbles a bit, but does try to be a little encouraging at least. Pull commences and the bard gets hit by nearly everything except Landslide ironically. This continues to happen on every subsequent attempt. Seriously. He refused to dodge anything. Tank struggles to keep hate and wipes. I end up having to tank Titan, as a DRAGOON. Went about as well as you can imagine. ;_; Wipe two.
Third go essentially repeats itself, save that same tank typing in all caps to dodge (He would do this a few times). The other tank tries to take over when he struggles, but gets punted off the map, which she apologizes profusely for. It's a slow but inevitable wipe as no one is dodging anything. Wipe three.
Rinse and repeat, where yet again I'm tanking Titan, but actually manage to hold him for a short burst by blowing every cooldown I have. Wipe four.
Attempt five sees that whiny tank die early, though we actually push Titan to his heart phase. People keep dying due to horrible inability to dodge. Wipe five.
Vote abandon goes up at this point. Considering I was bloody nervous going into this fight as a DRG, I can't say I was too disappointed despite how horror the actual PuG was, xD
Waiting 15 minutes for Amdapor Keep. As white mage. Yay.
Get a lv60 paladin who is new to this duty, along with a dragoon and a new summoner. Paladin pulls small groups as he doesn't know the dungeon, we weren't angry at him but still the dragoon asks for bigger pulls, and I agree with him. So, the paladin does as we told him to do and uses exactly one flash to hold aggro on three or four groups of mobs (didn't count them). Double yay. Aggro goes everywhere, but most mobs run to me... I have to use my instant panic heal thingie on myself and I'm still getting literally crushed, then I somehow manage to give the dragoon (who was second in aggro ranking) a regen and everyone a Medica II before I die - this way I saved everyone else's butts at least. After the mobs are dead, the paladin says "well, this went quite well".
Uh, what?
Stone Vigil NM, leveling my BRD with my boyfriend as a DRG.
Tank places most mobs rather oddly, there's a lot of running around, getting hit by the "special appearance" dragon, but we're doing fine until the last boss.
The tank sets a marker on themselves, telling us we should follow them when Isgebind gets up in the air. Alright, never heard of that method before, but I guess it's better than running around like scared chickens, right? (No.)
So, the tank pulls Isgebind but stays with him right in the middle of the arena, face to the rest of the group. Well, uh... Guess I gotta watch where I stand.
Isgebind starts to fly, I and the healer do as said in the beginning... And guess what? Yes, we're all getting hit by his icy breath. Well, guess that's my own fault for not being fast enough to dodge, but I'm still kinda annoyed that that happened.
After Isgebind lands, the tank pulls him to the wall, but again let him face the group. My boyfriend starts rushing towards the dragon to attack his back, gets hit by Isgebinds frontal attack and is instantly dead. Nice.
Now here comes the part I want to laugh and cry at the same time. My bf tells the tank to turn the dragon around, so we wouldn't accidentally get hit by his breath attack-thingy. They start to turn the dragon round and round, while answering: "Why? Every1 is fine!"
At the same time I'm getting hit by Isgebind and die, too, 'cause I didn't pay enough attention, as I was too busy to find out how the tank wants to position this goddamn dragon now.
God, this run was absolutely... weird. Guess the only one who wasn't brain afk (...my boyfriend accidentally rezzed himself after he died...) was the healer. So, if you're reading this, I'm sorry. Some people shouldn't play late at night, me and my bf included.
First mistake: watching a Mr happy video. His strats are garbage. There has never, ever been a need to stack for weight of the land. Even less so now that can survive two of them synced. All this does kill whoever has the highest latency. You do however need to stack for basically everything else in the fight.
Was this recent? Because that party sounds astoundingly bad. If it was an unsynced party it should be nearly impossible to die if the healer is... There. At all. They can just spam medica the whole fight as long as they don't fall off.
Ran leveling roulette on my MNK yesterday to get to 51 to have a job at that level to play with a buddy who just got to HW content. Tank was a sprout, 30+ marauder, not WAR, so no tank stance. Went through the first few pulls and the healer, BLM, and I were tanking more than he was. I tried offering advice...it seemed like he was going to use it but stopped after the one group. I had my Stalwart Axe title on. I just accepted the fact I was going to tank individual mobs and the healer did too bc they kept me healed. BLM used the LB way too early on the boss, well before adds. No one got void lamps but me. Got a dps comm out of it though, and did get to 51!
After all that, I did Dusk Vigil on a tank job bc I wasn't going to trust someone else to tank his first HW dungeon run. And it went pretty smoothly though we had a dumb wipe at the final boss, I can't even figure why. It was a good group.
Running Frac to cap my esos on my alt because I am late to the party.
I get DRK that refuses to use Grit. First I thought he forgot and was about to ask him to turn it on when he did. For 1 pull then he turned it off. You can only imagine how fun it was healing his ass with low ilvl as my alt was on SCH.
I got two for you guys, one for me (DRK) and one for my fiance (WHM). I'll post mine up after due to character limits.
Her's first. So I was taking a break from playing for the day, chilling on my phone and I hear raging. I look up to see she popped in Neverreap for her roulette since I wasn't logged on. I inquire as to the negative energy radiating from her to find a less than capable DRK in her Neverreap PUG and curiously, having trouble holding threat with just about every group he pulled. His gear was fine but no Darkside? No Blood Price? Not even a Shadowskin? That wasn't even the best part, he was doing nothing but spamming Unleash for the entire run (not including bosses) and couldn't grasp why he couldn't hold agro. Towards the end I take her keyboard and offer some tips for tanking as a DRK, such as the importance of using Abyssal Drain in level 60 content. His response?
"But it costs more MP"
As for myself, just a quickie. Le Fractal, get a SCH for heals, do a routine gear check to formulate what kinda tanking I need to be doing here. DPS: Good, SCH: Good. Asked the SCH if he wanted smooth or big? No reply. *shrugs* Well DPS seems good so let's go for a blow through and see how it goes. Pull the first soldiers, run for the dreadnought group rush. As soon as I did the SCH leaves the run without a word. We're like wut and wipe. Get an AST in, tell him what happened. We all rofl and lmao and have a nice run.
No Owl drop though, stingy dungeon.
40 minute Main Scenario queue on my monk, get CM. 7/8 premade (which they did not inform me of until they kicked me). The 7 of us (minus the newbie) would be standing at the boss. After waiting for a couple of minutes, I pulled because there is no reason for 7 people to do nothing in an already long and tedious dungeon. No one says anything for or against what I was doing, so I it every 2nd boss for the rest of the dungeon (I wasn't really sure what they were doing since no one said anything, so I just figured neither of the tanks wanted to MT or something). We get to Livia, I get abuse from everyone in this party for not waiting for their friend, and they then kicked me so I, and I quote, "don't get my roulette bonus because I don't deserve it".
Seriously?
Spend another 40 minutes in queue, get Prae. Different party, same situation. Most of the time one of the other DPS pulled, but I would gain aggro so all of the hostility went to me. However, this party did not kick me. They did give me tons of verbal abuse, though. I don't think this group was actually premade unlike the other group. Still took me 2 hours between queue times and all this CS watching for me to get my Main Scenario roulette done today.
No one, in either of these parties, told me we were waiting for this one person until they started to get snippy with me. I told both parties that I would wait if that's what they wanted to do, since no one had said anything about it previously..
Honestly, guys. If you're going to run the MS dungeons and watch all the cut scenes, either do it unsynced or tell the one pug in the group what you're going to be doing instead of saying nothing until you feel like yelling at them or kicking them before they get their bonus. It's DF and they're not going to treat it any differently than any other DF run if no one says anything.
