whats this fate system again?
hi, it's supposed that I can't tell u that I'm in alpha so I won't do it. And yes, I appreciate the videos but this is not the purpose of this thread, bc people outside FFXIV players are comparing the alpha version with GW2 and wow and they don't like what they see there cuz videos are boring. I know why they are boring (cuz it's alpha), that's why it's better for SE to wait a little longer until they can release a better video that makes the people want to play the game.
well at least these clips are no trailers.. they are more or less alpha "leak" video clips.. short CLIPS. and nothing more they want to be.
first we saw sightseeing videos, then gameplay and standard quest types, then we maybe would have seen an instance or a video about fate? who knows. and then they are going to see "oh well it got much more than just quests".. and thats about it.
at least people are talking about it. and if the last trailer they are going to release after those clips can surprise the crowd then.. the effect is much better.
i think they should have went on with those alpha clips. of course they are going to show better material later on (beta etc.) real trailers which are more for exitement.
or what else you did think? well i have a different opinion concerning this.
people saw the limitbreak trailer and said "woah that looked good", but it doesnt tell me anything about it being a grinder or anything else..
therefore these clips have been for.. to explain the standard things of the game. of course a standard quest video clip is boring on its own, but what if there are 10 others to show that you do 10 other things besides just questing? Housing, fate, story missions, instanced dungeons..
Of COURSE only one video clip is boring on his own, but after seeing 4-5 clips you can get the idea of the total game.
because in the time of today you need much more than just "impressive" trailers with many action in it. people want to get explained anything about the game system, that it is so much different than any thousands of grinders out of there.
(watch some GW2 videos where developers explained their game)
at least that was that what these tiny clips have been for, and you say "STOP" right in the middle, where they started to show actual gameplay..
i think its a bad idea to stop here, i totally disagree also due to some of negative feedback. because i think negative feedback can turn quickly into good feedback. Now they really think the only thing you can do is do standard quests, and thats about it.. but well.
Congrats to the flame war guys.
as has already been said- if they're too fucking dense to understand what an alpha video is and what it's meant to showcase, we're not losing anything if they forego ARR for the next shitty flavor of the month F2P heap of garbage.
though i'd like to see some actual evidence backing up your claim.
Tell that to dumb/biased/retarded reviewers and/or the Youtube community. OP means people OUTSIDE this community is having negative reactions regarding these videos. THEY are the ones saying the videos are boring and whatnot. Besides, we know it's the cool thing nowadays to bash on SE and anything Final Fantasy, and that's why I also think SE should wait longer before releasing those videos to the public so they can make better, more exciting ones to shut them up.
I don't know if it is possible, but If anything, I think those videos shouldn't be shown anywhere outside of these forums.
Of course its boring to see a video clip about standard quests. But when there are 10 others to show up.. you can do Public events (Fate), Housing, Story missions, Low level instances, crystal tower and what not.
Every dumb would get the idea, that you can do so much more than classic questing.
in contrast if they are going to see there are some features like in GW2 but combines it with classic elements (quests) it could attract some players, especially those who thought either in GW2 just doing public quests is too boring or other way, just doing quests is boring. we all know that the instances of Final Fantasy are going to be great, especially when they are combined with a story.
negative feedback can quickly turn into positive feedback "oh it wasnt bad as i thought".
you guys are just too scary about those negative voices in my opinion.
i think its a much more bad idea to stop now.
