Mine has some history for myself (after continuously playing XI since 2002, and on/off around post Seekers of Adoulin expansion ages later). Characters name is Shikaree Sinhunter. A former member of the Shikaree tribe that hunts down Sin hunters (some of my favorite Mithra's in the game!). She was a native of Altana for many years. In her early line of work, she's seen it all-- saved empires (ToAU), saved the past from apocalypse (WOTG), stopped Shadow lords from arising (SL rank 5), saved the world a couple times over (RotZ & CoP), among many other things. After having saved the world plenty of times, took a boat for another adventure (looking to end up back in NORG), and somehow ended up on a Pirate boat to a foreign place called "Limsa Lomsina". Luckily, she was used to pirates, so she adapted as best as she could as "an adventurer" with no gil to her name in this land. Signed up for guild access, and the rest became history.
In the years that passed, she forgot about her time in Altana eventually-- and focused on the here and now with Eorzea. Until she met a woman named Iroha, who gave her some memories of time to look back on-- only to end up in another world shortly down the line (shadowbringers). She continues her adventures today, and will until her next call or coming of time.

I usually make a game character name starting with the letter J. and I usually like to have the letter r in there as well.. for reasons.
Jahro sounds like something a beast cat thing would say; kinda growly like.
Katika means "The Tiger" in the language of my people!

Xenosan moniker for most game related forums/chats since early 2000s (Xenogears fanboy), up until Discord/Twitch days.
I've always named characters after existing game favorites or names that stood out to me, FF11 characters were Ramsus from Xenogears, Darius from Morrowind, then Gaffgarion from tactics. When XIV was free to play got Gaffy again and stuck with it. Knew there'd be a DRK job eventually anyway that I'd main.

I've had a few people got excited about the name "Mango Durango", and it's a little embarrassing since it came literally in an hour... I found the generated names not grand enough for an RPG protagonist, and after asking a few friends, apparently Lalafell PCs have this food theme going on. Luckily, plainsfolk have the least restrictive canonical name pattern, so the name is almost lore friendly, but had I known better I might have picked something with less real world references - but then, it wouldn't be as cute.

I just wanted something that got people to laugh at the beginning of dungeons. So I choose Server Limitations. Funny enough I had the name for so long people legit call me Server like a first name even in real life. Now if I changed my name it'll be odd cause everyone I know knows me as -Server-.

It comes from one of my favorite OC.- Rein: derives from 'Rain' which refers to his tendency to interpret his surrounding in a gloomy way & hinting his mortal birthplace's climate. Also a naming custom.
- eon: an indefinite, or very long period of time. Refers to his proficiency in ancient arcanes & esoteric knowledge while additionally hinting his celestial age.
- Osborne: means 'godly/divinely being.'. Refers to his celestial background and full extent of his capability.
The only reason I did not include the middle name because I don't like how the name would look like if I try to add a 'space' by using ['] or similar symbols :p So I shorten it into 'Reiner' and deleting the 'eon', which would only make sense! Because the law of universe in world of FFXIV and the world he hailed from works differently!

Step closer, children, and listen to the story of two warriors who fell in love while fighting for their dreams and the tragedy that nearly tore them apart forever.

All of my characters have two "i" in them and it has been that way since Star Wars Galaxies as live. "Zenjii" was the name of my first Pandaren when Mists of Pandaria came out. It's not my most used name out of the 20 or so that I use. But, it has become one of my favorites.
