What's the story behind your name?

Some people think a long time before deciding what their characters name is. Some pick one they think sounds fun, or one to match their friend.

Either way, what thoughts went into your name?
And if your name in game doesn't match your forum name, is there a story there too?


For my in game name,
I choose Iiiiiiiiiiit's Meeeee because I was gonna play as a short little Lala that would be hard to see, so I wanted a very wide name so I could always see it amidst the other players and explosions. My name was basically made to be a big sign so I'd always know where I am lol
Also, so I could be very cheeky. When my girlfriend was trying to find me when we first met up in game, she asked what my name was and I told her "you'll recognize me when you see me. My name will let you know that it's me."

As for my forum name,
I was having a lot of errors when I tried to enter I"iiiiiiiiiit's Meeeee" in as my forum name and ItMe is just the first variation it took.

I tried to fit the Dunesfolk Lalafell naming convention of AAB - CCB, with the two B's rhyming with each other.

"Kokoro" = Japanese word for "heart".

"Liliro" is made up but the "Lil" part should probably conjure an idea of being little or small.

So "Heart Little" or "Little Heart".

As for my forum name of "Moofia Boss Val", I played forum mafia on a WoW fansite. I was called "Val" back then. I had my Tauren paladin in my signature. During one mafia game, a poster joked that I was "the Moofia boss" (a play on the Mafia boss, who is the leader of the evil team of players in mafia games), so I named changed my username to "Val the Moofia Boss".

I wasn't originally a lala, but I needed the extra int that Lalas have.

Malmström was my WoW name for a long time. Carried it through different games.

Then FFXIV came along and after a while I decided I wanted a name that fit the Roegadyn naming conventions.

I was extremely pissed off when I decided to make the name.

And now on everything, I am Furious.

Most of the time I take random and tweak it some, but this character is a reinvent of my original FF14 main so I took his name(which had been randomly generated) and messed with it till it felt comfortable.

Every time I see Hoary Boulder I say his name like I'm Macho Man Randy Savage. You should try it. It's amazing. Draw out the first syllable of each name a bit. HOAR-Y BOUL-DER!

Vidar - (Pronounced VIE-dar, like the "I" sound in "Rye", NOT VEE-Dar; there is another, more authentic pronunciation but I default to the Anglicized one because of the difficulty of pronouncing the old Norse version, "Víðarr") - A Norse god of justice, vengeance, and the wilderness. Destined to avenge his father Odin at Ragnarok by killing Fenrir.

Kusanagi - From "Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi", a legendary Japanese sword and one of Japan's Three Imperial Regalia. Was originally called "Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi" and is the sword that the god Susano-O cut from the tail of the eight-headed dragon, Yamato-No-Orochi, after killing it. The sword got its name changed to "Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi" after it saved the life of a legendary Japanese warrior, Yamato Takeru, by cutting away burning grass while flying in the air in front of its wielder, to save him from a trap laid by a rival warlord. The sword actually does exist IRL, but is only brought out with the other Regalia during the coronation of a new emperor, and historians are unsure if the current Kusanagi is the original, which is said to have been lost in a naval battle in 1185.

As for my forum handle, Grass-Cutting Au Ra is just a little joke on the the translation of "Kusanagi" and the fact I'm predominantly a lizard boi.
