DPS display could easily be solved with a system already in game.

That's one of the reasons. Another is because without enrage, you can easily turtle any fight in most any game by stacking enough heals. Soft enrage helps to counter that, but it doesn't always do its job, as seen in people exploiting the Turn 2 soft enrage.

Granted, you'd have to then rate yourself only against dps if you don't want to deal with enmity modifiers, and note for what duration of enmity was chopped in half each time you Elusive Jump...

Also: in WoD, you're seeing your enmity rank for your party only. You could theoretically be 17th and show as 1st, etc.

Out of curiosity why on earth would anyone not want to improve? The way some people go on about these things puzzles me because it's almost like they don't want to get better as much as they are afraid of being persecuted for low dps/healing or high damage taken.

Look at a website like world of logs for wow. You can analyze peoples rotations, cooldown timers everything on comparable fights and figure out where you are screwing up by isolating specific times during the fight on the graph. This game does not have anything near as robust yet because parsers are not allowed. They absolutely help thats not even up for debate and if they ever made an official one you could expect comparable tools to be developed for this game.

In addition to that tools have been developed as well for wow like simulationcraft which could tell you the exact expected dps on a fight with your current gear and what you should be expected to put out.

Because it's not "vague numbers". The number is just a summary of the overall amount. This is what you get from real parses.

Quellign Strikes. Elusive Jump. Being a monk (Good sustained but no threat dumps.) These instantly mitigate your point. What's more likely happening is you're just dealing less DPS than everyone else - you're just not popping any threat dropping abilities (sorry!)

Please, NEVER think that "Threat" is a measure of DPS. It isn't. Threat is literally just that - it's how much enmity you generate. What a good DPS does: Deals DPS, while making sure their threat threshhold never exceeds the tank (That second part is important to me whenever I play my i130 DRG.)

If you were at satisfactory, and got yourself to exceeds expectations, you are improving. You can change gear etc. and check the differences. Being job specific, you will not be able to use it to exclude specific jobs as they won't be ranked against each other. This may be something they wouldn't shy away from at least.

I like this idea, but the mechanism for scoring seems arbitrary to me. What would this score calculator use to calculate the score other than using statistics that are already commonly used(total damage dealt, DPS, total healing dealt, HPS, etc.)?

im always popping repelling shot whenever my agro bar starts to get close to the tanks.. since i use my buffs asoon as they come of cd often steal agro if not watching the bars ;/ always position myself remotely close to healers aswell cause some dont really watch thier agro levels so handy to be close by to instantly try n get agro off them ;/

Didn't read though the 15 pages so if this has already been mentioned sorry.

I would support this HOWEVER, only if you are solo in DF (no parties), AND it only showed it when you clear or leave the dungeon/trial/raid/guildhest that way you can see personally how you stacked up with completely other people, also remove the "which world they are from and use only character's initials. (to prevent any possible harassment issues)

The information that should be shown is
Job, Character's initials, average item level, damage dealt, damage taken, healing done, number of skills used, average accuracy

This way the information is on the private level (no harassment) and it can be used to help players who don't have that static "coaching" them on how to be better.
