If you played TERA before this game, some are going to have a hard ass time gritting their teeth in the battle system in this game.
I'll you that much. I played it after, heavily, and I'm like canceling my heals on accident in this game because In TERA
you can mouse over like 2-3 people at once on a heal, WHILE running. The GCD makes me feel like I'm in Snail's pace mode.
><;; I keep clicking my buttons all the time. xD
I want to do end game coils but I am not able to find a solid group to coil with on a weekly basis.
Me not being able to participate in the endgame has me contemplating leaving the game.
I agree, it doesn't seem that it would be helpful with the current stance of not adding more stats because new players would be too confused. I miss the merit system from XI (which is probably what he was talking about), but with only base stats in this game actually being useful, there's no point to enhance anything. This is one situation where I'd really love for YoshiP to be locked in a room with Tanaka until they come up with a better character progression model.
Something that causes people to quit is that there aren't any traditional raids (just small group content)... and the only measure of "skill" at end game is the ability to find a small group of people that aren't jerks - because everyone is so on edge about the "team jump rope" they call end game.
Progression goes out the window - gear is pointless because of insta-gib mechanics. Quests are non-existent or grinds. There is no end game strategy or creativity. Encounters are about knowing the "dance". There is very little difference between end game and Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, or Simon Says.
This is a mass market game that let's anyone succeed, so long as they
1. Spend enough time in game doing easy repetitive tasks or
2. Memorize the answers to the test and then regurgitate them
There is little compelling here for someone looking for a cerebral experience. Also, every game has some easy grind, but with DF spam, the easy grind promotes rushing players through scripted instances repeatedly, knowing that you probably won't see them again. So, instead of being a community building function, this actually creates a more hostile environment that is unfriendly.
Personal housing still isn't in.. and the absurd pricing on FC housing ran some people off. The way casual systems are handled such as chocobo raising and now this cryptic version of chocobo dying along with housing and farming is a real turn off to someone that is looking at just enjoying the lighter side of the game.
(Although I will note - for the most part leveling to max level was pretty fun with some decent storyline)
Those 2 you said aren't minor mistakes, they are due to lack of paying attention. 2 tanks on one golem each, DPS grabs the blue, easy for MNK or DRG if they cross class skull sunder from WAR, hell, even a healer can grab the blue as they do near no damage.
Meteors, , if someone can't spread out, they need to zoom camera out more and pay attention. Plus not panic XD
I have to admit... I wish I had more selection with cross class abilities. Seems boring to be limited to like two other classes to grab skills from. :/
Oh, and I get full CP at the start of every craft but wither in my gathering with slowly regenerating GP? I've got crafting classes soaaaaring with EXP, but find gathering tedious and dull without being able to spam my abilities freely like I can in crafting.
Weekly Lockout on ST loot too. I'm still trying to get my full healing set from it, one week I had to do ST no less than F-I-F-T-E-E-N times. Fifteen. That's a LOT. To half-asleep wander this long raid, blasting heals on people who stand in AoEs and just play recklessly, because they're running 20+ times EACH WEEK hoping for a sands / oil drop or whatever on the last boss.
So much ST gear just goes flying into trash because everyone passes. Some people would Love to have that gear... for their off jobs to have as soon as they hit 50.
Main reason players are quitting right now? Its 2 months into an odd numbered patch and they have pretty much everything they want to do and thing they think they can do done.
-Main class is i108+ via Soldiery gear and Hunts.
-SCoB for High Allagan? Have yet to clear T5, find T6+ to Hard or are bored of farming T9 for their prestige weapon if they don't have it.
-ST is vanity gear and they have the 5 visible pieces of the set they want.
-PvP? Don't like it or Got 100 Frontline wins and PvP Rank 40.
2.4 is likely to be when they next consider renewing.
